I just paid 7.50 USD for 2 slices of turkey lettuce and tomato - tasteless (toasted- nit requested). The steaks and chopped meat are tasteless. Fresh food is not fresh (yogurt parfait /berries). This was a thriving business that fed the neighborhood. Not a reputable market any longer. The one star is for the awesome cashiers.

And the lower price range can only be found on the occasional sale day. Whereas, Viva's prices are on regular rotation ranging from .79c/lb -$1.99/lb. How are they able to maintain these lower prices? Supply and demand? Better wholesale distributor? Location? They're located in Westchester and less than half a mile or so from Shop Rite and Stop Shop, and the quality to me seems on par with the larger chains. Hey, but what do I know? One thing I do know, these affordable prices are being trickled down to the consumer for a change and that's more than appreciated. Viva Ranch carries all your favorite veggies and fruits, even stuff you didn't even think you needed. Plus, there's also a friendly butchers corner towards the back of the store. Showing my patronage whenever I can helps Viva turn their products over and on the other hand saves me a few dollars. And who doesn't value saving a few $'s? The quality of their products are amazing too and the staff is super friendly. The store itself can get a bit crowded & parking is not the best but I don't mind since the prices are so great. They have another location which is much larger and has a lot more to offer but if you're looking for just produce and some meat, this spot is perfect!

My favourite was the corn beef with cheese, everything on it heated under a cast iron press. Oh my GOD, it was my heaven! After 45 years passed by and I had to look it up as my all'time best sandwiches. It was expensive, yes, was $8, not bad today's standards but back then was a hefty price. I've been coming here since the early '80s -- my dad introduced me to this place when I was a kid, and I've never eaten anything else from here except their famous Wedge -- a pastrami con todo (pastrami with everything). This place has been serving Yonkers residents for over 50 years, and the friendly staff really makes you feel like part of the family. I love this place, my children love this place, and my wife would kill me if she ever found out I came here and didn't bring her a sandwich or share one! Even my sister-in-law, who follows a strict gluten-free diet, sacrifices her usual routine just to enjoy one of these sandwiches. Best sandwich spot in Yonkers, hands down. I felt so had that I actually gave it back to her and said that I couldn't bring myself to pay $11 for bread.
