I've been going to Vincent's for years. And they've got a wonderful assorted selection of different meats and cuts...etc. I wanna give them a BIG thumbs up for their veal and their veal cutlets! They are hands down the BEST!! I have been purchasing them for years and I have never been disappointed. They taste great when prepared properly! The guys behind the counter are always kind and helpful and will freezer-wrap any meat order you want. Like I said...there are many fantastic butcher shops in The Bronx...and all over NYC, but when you find a place that works...you just stick with that! Again...in my opinion, the BEST Veal around! They sell a variety of meats including beef, poultry, pork, veal and they specialize in homemade Italian sausages. I came in specifically looking for steak and the guy who helped me answered all of my questions regarding the different types of cuts. The staff was helpful and very efficient, they gave me a sheet with information on the different temperatures to cook the meat. I ended up ordering the NY strip steak. The meat had a nice amount of marbling and was very tender and flavourful. The meat was such great quality that even though I slightly overcooked it, it remained very tender. I only added minimal seasoning, salt and pepper with butter and flavor was delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for quality meat.

If you asked me to review this place a few years ago, when they first extended their store, I would have probably said a lot of negative things..i.e. poor customer service paired with super high prices for the area. However, the more I go lately, the more I like it and, the more I have seen a huge difference..in a positive way! Their deli and hot food station in the back is excellent. Honestly, their food is slamming. I've eaten from both their hot food station and from their deli section and both are great. The sandwiches are about $2-3 more than your standard bodega sandwich, but that's because they pile their sandwiches high, don't skimp on anything and also because their cold cuts and breads are super fresh. You really are paying for quality at this place. Also, I love their "lunch card". If you order 7 lunches (sandwiches or plates), your 8th one is free. Yes, you heard that..free! It's awesome! I'm 2 lunches away from a free meal..yey! I've also seen a HUGE difference in their customer service. Their employees now are sooo nice! The girls that work at the registers up front are super sweet, and the people who work in the back where the deli is are super accommodating. They all seem to have great personalities as well. When I use to go years ago, when they first extended their store, all the cashiers were snobs and all their other employees were so unfriendly, now it is quite the opposite! I actually stopped going to Battaglias for a while because of those past experiences, but have gotten over it since then and just recently started going back. What a total make-over! So my review is based solely on their customer service and their deli/hot food section in the back. I know they do catering as well, but can't comment on that...but from what I've heard, their catering is very goodt as well. I've also shopped their a few times...just for essentials like milk, fruits etc. (it still is a bit pricey-but that's cause there's no decent super market in the neighborhood). I haven't tried their breakfast or coffee yet (I'm still a loyal customer to Casa Doro's across the street when it comes to coffee and bacon egg and cheeses) but I will soon like to try, just out of curiosity. This place has come a long way since they first extended it a few years back. Food is very good and usually always fresh. Service has become MUCH friendlier and they have added many more things to the store/deli section. I love their lunch card..after 6 punches you get your 7th lunch for free! They are a bit overpriced, but their quality makes up for it. It is a little tight and can get crowded in there, but with no decent market in the area, this is the only place where you can get all the essentials. Coffee is good too! They need to add an espresso/cappucino machine to really give it that Italian market feel! read more

This has gotta be one of the best delis around. Both the Bronx and Dobbs Ferry locations are fantastic. Always the freshest coldcuts and the best meat. You can't get fresher thin chicken or thin veal for breaded cutlets. If you're looking for fresh delicious food, come here for sure. read more

You can say the fruit and vegetables (what they have) look okay or fresh enough...but unfortunately when you get home and are ready to eat and prepare the produce, it's on the old side and not fresh at all. I've had to throw away certain produce because they weren't in good shape. The apples seem to look okay...but when ya get home and you bite into them, they're brown and mushy. Just a waste of money. I/We have purchased dairy products in the past such as eggs, milk and yogurt and have had to return the items because they were either old and/or spoiled. Perhaps they have a refrigeration problem or the thermostat is kept way too low?? Just no good. We've noticed that many items on the shelves are on the older side and are outdated. Ketchup, mustard, honey and cookies to name a few. The store did not seem to be very clean the last time I stopped in. The floors were sticky and the merchandise on the shelves were very dusty. I came in to return a gallon of milk which was spoiled and the cashier was very nasty and rude to me because I did not have a receipt...meanwhile she was the one who rang me up the day before. She gave me my money back...but gave me a very hard time for no reason. This is no way to treat customers and to run a business. No way!! Normally a person could just let this go...but this is not the first time. It's happened several times. The little one (cashier) in particular has a rotten attitude. I/We won't be going back to this store anymore. There are better markets and stores one can go to without these types of problems. Not worth it. Sorry......
