I've been to Dominic's Italian Restaurant in Oceanside a few times now, and it's always been a solid experience. The biggest highlight is the freshness of the food. You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients. We ordered the calamari, and it was fantastic, especially with the dipping sauce. The homemade breadsticks were fresh, although I definitely recommend getting a side of marinara since they're a little plain on their own. We also ordered the meat ravioli and pasta with meatballs to go, and both were delicious. For pizza, we had the 12-inch Meat Lover's. The toppings and ingredients were fresh, but the crust wasn't quite what I expected. I wish I had taken a picture of the underside because it lacked that crispy, well-baked texture I usually look for. That said, it was still a good pizza and was the perfect size to share with my 12-year-old son. The restaurant itself was very clean, both inside and on the patio. We chose to eat outside since it was a hot day, and the harbor views gave the place a relaxing, old-school 90s coastal vibe. Parking around the harbor can be a challenge, and the shared public restrooms definitely show their age. Service was just okay during this visit. Nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The owner has always been incredibly friendly, though. On a previous visit, he even surprised my kids with free desserts, which was a really nice touch. Like many places around the harbor, prices seem a bit higher because of the tourist location. Even so, the quality of the food keeps bringing us back. This was my third or fourth visit, and while there isn't one thing that absolutely blows me away, it's consistently good Italian food in Oceanside. Birthday dinner with a view!! My friend invited me to Dominic's and it was my first time in Oceanside. The hostess welcome does inside us at the best table she had outside. She let us know that all the pizzas were top-notch, and the sangria was popular on the menu for those sensitive to alcohol. The pizza did not disappoint. It's not thick on bread, but it's very generous with the toppings. The sangria was sweet and perfect with the humidity next to the beach. We came in the evening on a Thursday and it was quiet. But I checked out the reviews online and I'm happy I came. If you're gonna get the pizza. Get the Dominic special. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Oceanside harbor village area. It's a bit of a tourist trap for hungry tourists lol. There's a few restaurants in this area and we decided to give this one a try! Service was very nice but they only had one waitress so she was running around a lot and wasn't too attentive but she was very nice! We had some breadsticks to start off and those were delicious! Our starters were: Linguini with baby clams, clam chowder, fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and a pasta with salmon. Everything was delicious! I was very impressed since it's a touristy spot. Greeted by the owner Dominic as we arrived which was a pleasant surprise. Lovely man. Mini family reunion dinner for 11. Fortunately we arrived early, around 5PM, before the evening dinner rush so we were able to all be seated without a reservation. All the food was delicious, from the homemade breadsticks and salads to the main pasta dishes! Portions were bigger than expected, so we were all too stuffed to have dessert. Dominic's has a family friendly and relaxed atmosphere and right on the marina. Our waiter was polite and prompt with drink refills. I visited Dominic's Italian Restaurant on Harbor Drive a while back, and overall, it was a mixed experience. I came around lunchtime and was surprised to find the place completely empty -- I was the only one dining in, even though neighboring restaurants seemed like they were bustling. The restaurant felt oddly cold, atmosphere wise. There was a large portable heater fan propped up on a table, which made me think they might not have proper heating. One waitress was handling the entire (and fairly large) dining room. Occasionally, someone would walk in to ask a question and leave, but otherwise it stayed quiet, besides for the loud classical music playing. For a spot right on the harbor, I expected a beautiful view -- but you don't really get that from inside. I'd suggest they remodel the front wall and add large windows to better showcase the waterfront. It's a missed opportunity. Now onto the food: the menu is surprisingly big, and they let you sit wherever you'd like. Just a heads-up -- they don't serve complimentary bread. You have to order it separately, which I did. I got the breadsticks with marinara (you can only pick one sauce), and they were actually very good, just super filling. For my main dish, I tried the sea bass risotto. The portion was huge -- lots of rice and vegetables, and pretty tasty overall. Both dishes took about 25 minutes each to come out, which I guess is understandable since it wasn't busy. I think this place has potential, but there are definitely areas for improvement: * Fix the heating situation. * Add windows or find a way to show off the harbor view. * Consider listing portion sizes on the menu -- it would help diners prepare or share. If I come back, I'll definitely make sure to bring a larger appetite. read more

Dominic's was a fantastic find and not what you expect when visiting a marina. The food was fantastic and authentic. I just returned from Italy a few months ago, and Dominic's food was on par with some of the best places there. The service was prompt and professional. The seating was comfortable and the decor was very nice. We had the Calzone and the Chicken Fantasia. The Calzone was huge and tasted out of this world. The cheese was some of the best I have tasted outside of Italy. The marinara was unique and outstanding. The Chicken Fantasia was even better than the Calzone. I was visiting my sister in Oceanside for Mother's Day. We stumbled upon Dominic's at the harbor. Since 87'.. Chicago Italian resettled in Northern San Diego County bringing delicious old world recipes to life! My Veal Parmesan was lightly breaded, crispy outside and yet tender inside. Perfect balance of entree and side toasted vegetables and a nice swirl of spaghetti. The marinara was light, sweet yet hardy. The antipasto salad was ample sized and we all shared it happily. My sister had their cheese manicotti which had a fantastic creamy and smooth texture with al dente pasta shell. My brother in law ordered a personal pepperoni pizza. Nice flavor. I preferred more well done and crispy but I enjoyed it just not as much as my amazing Veal. Even my nephews chicken parm wasn't as good as the Veal. I'm from New England where we take our Italian food very seriously. Our entire family is Italian and our recipes are decades, if not hundreds of years old and when I tell you that Dominic's is the closest to authentic Italian cuisine we've found in the area. The sauce is very good and everyone knows you can't have a good pasta without a good sauce. The pies remind me of the quick slices I would get in Manhattan or New Haven...light, full of flavor, perfectly fired like it came from a 100 year old brick oven. Previous Yelp reviews are spot on and definitely need to return several times to try all the recommended entrees. We ordered the original Dominic's 12" pizza. Perfect size for 2 elderly people with a house salad and satisfying. Tasty and crust was crispy on the outside and soft inside. We couldn't eat it all, but, we enjoyed it later for dinner. We got here on a Friday and decided to get breakfast and fortunately Dominic was there waiting for us and instantly showed us some amazing hospitality. We decided to come back every day for breakfast because his amazing hospitality. We also got to try every single croissant there and never had any complaints about a single one of them. A healthy 4 stars. First and foremost, a shout-out to our server who was one of the friendliest servers I've met. She is also a great ambassador of her home country so kudos to you!! They are dog-friendly. We had reservations and arrived half an hour early but got seated right away. There were 3 cars in our party and we all managed to get parking in the parking lots around the pier without issue for around 8 pm. The food was very very good. We ordered a lot of things - the caprese, the mozzarella in carozza, the new England clam chowder as appetizers, and the Mediterranean salad, the lobster ravioli, penne al forno, and the cappellini al pomodaro. The best of them all was the clam chowder followed by the complimentary bread sticks. Simply delicious and an absolute chef's kiss. Everything else was also very good. I had the lobster ravioli and can attest that it was creamy with a hint of vodka sauce. My aunt couldn't stop commenting on how creamy and delicious her penne al forno was. The entrees were very pretty heavy so we got a lot of leftovers. We ended the meal with the lemon gelato and the bombe. The gelato was very lemony and fresh. The bombe was a dessert to share with chocolate, vanilla, almonds, cherries...utter delicious but we should've left more stomach space for it. All in all, this was a great place to bring family to. Their food is very good, their servers are friendly, parking isn't much of an issue and you can get your dogs! You also get a lot of leftovers. We will be back for the pizzas! I wish we discovered this little gem sooner. Talk about delicious food and great service... if I could give it 10 stars on the 5 star scale I would. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They smile while they serve you and I never asked once for a refill of my drink. The clam chowder and the bruschetta is the best my husband and I have ever had. Nice selection of beer and wine. The place is a little run down and could use a makeover. Nasty restroom. Don't set your expectations too high and you'll be glad you came.
