    Negroni was solid.
    Craig W.

This is a very casual, locals pizza joint with upscale, delicious food. You would never know how upscale the food is from first glance and if you pass on by, well, that is your big loss. The fried olives appetizer was fine, and I probably would look otherwise next time, but the stars of the show were the absolutely gorgeous Roosevelt salad and the pizza. Sometimes it's the little touches that count the most. The Roosevelt salad divides the three types of lettuces (radicchio , endive, arugula) so it looks kind of like the Italian flag and the lemon vinaigrette was very nice. It's a very good salad and appears to be a popular one for good reason. The small size is extremely generous and plenty for two to share. The Village Pizza comes with pesto, dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and chicken. The crust was very thin and crunchy and the flavors were very nice. We ate the entire thing. It comes with a small plate that divides the oregano, freshly-shaved Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes. It's those little touches, don't you know. My Negroni was well made and, don't ask me why, but the margaritas seem to be popular here, or at least they were during our visit. Bless this restaurant for having their own dedicated parking out back. Just drive down the alley and turn in. Otherwise, good luck with street parking. One server was working the entire restaurant (two patios and the inside room) and she kicked ass. But come on. Get this gal a little help. This restaurant (and very small bar) punches way above its weight. I would happily return to try more of the menu. Prices for this quality were also very reasonable. This place is not a secret. It got very busy during our visit.

Even though Carlsbad Village has a few options, we decided for this cute pizza family restaurant The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We loved that about the place right away. The pizza was so good guys! The salad was amazing. The Margaritas, well what can I say... riquisimas! It has a great ambience very cheerful and upbeat. I recommend this place for a night in the town. We visited from the east coast so we hope to visit again one day. Thank you.

Wow, what a great place! Great food with a "c'mon in" neighborhood vibe is increasingly harder to find, but l think Roosevelt Pizza delivers. I'd say it's one of the few "hidden" gems left in Carlsbad Village. Come here for a selection of pizzas, sandwiches and a handful of classic Italian dishes. The staff is friendly, helpful and I fully enjoy my experience each time I visit. As far as food, I recommend the Marinated Beets, Roosevelt Salad, Carlsbad Pizza (no cheese, ) and Hen of the Wood Mushroom Gnocchi. I also appreciate the fact that their (somewhat limited) wine list is filled out with Italian wines. I usually add a side of crostini with marinara to my order because extra bread is always a good decision! Above all, I have only good things to say about Roosevelt Pizza. I hope you enjoy it as my as I do. Pro Tip: If you're dairy free, they offer a couple "no cheese" pizzas on their main menu. Better yet, they're delicious!

I was in Carlsbad and felt like picking up a pizza. Stumbled upon Roosevelt Pizzeria on Yelp and called in my order for take out. I ordered the fennel sausage pizza, which was ready in about 25 minutes after calling it in. Pros: -good undercarriage -tasty pizza -variety of seating options- indoors, outdoors, and a few bar seats Cons: -none Other: -pizzas are a bit on the smaller side, so you may need to order a few pizzas or sides if you are feeding multiple people. -street parking

A pizzeria with not only great pizza, but a menu including salad, soup, and pasta. The food came out quickly and was fresh and tasted amazing. We ordered 2 pizzas, the brussel sprouts, and a cream of asparagus soup. All of it was amazing and well priced. Our server Gabby was attentive and quick and did a wonderful job explaining the menu and daily specials. The ambiance was inviting and I loved the rock stars donning the walls. Will definitely be back and recommend this spot for pizza and more when in Carlsbad.

Hidden behind another pizza joint, I suggested we eat here instead. I was honestly thinking they would have pizza by the slice, but their way of competing against the many other pizza choices around the village is different. They offer a menu more than just pizza, including pasta, salad, veggie appetizers, and wine. Their pizza is practically a thin crust until you get to the end. It was amazing how perfect the crust was. It wasn't floppy anywhere and had a good chew. It was wonderful to dip into the leftover sauce from the stuffed shells, which was also great on its own. The pronounced lemon in the filling was awesome; I actually liked that it wasn't just a hint of lemon. The ambiance is intimate, but it's nice where we sat in their outdoor area. The service was OK. We weren't greeted when we stepped inside or as we walked up. The server didn't present our food by name, but rather placed it on the table. I don't think they even said, "enjoy". It just wasn't personable for a small local shop. When we left, however, another server who was working inside said bye and thank you. Guess it depends who you get.

We're staying down the street for the weekend and I was craving pizza. I am so glad I chose this place! The lady at the front who's also the bartender/waitress/hostess was the sweetest! I should have gotten her name but she made this place much better. We ordered the chorizo and a pepperoni. The chorizo was really good, I can't describe it but this place has to be top 3 of best pizza for me! The place itself is in Carlsbad village where there's plenty of street parking. Place was clean and the lady was also so sweet and gave us some water while we waited. Definitely coming back for more pizza when I'm back in town!

The Ponto Oven Fired Pizza by Roosevelt Pizza of Carlsbad was the real deal with exceptional crust and juicy toppings! Best!

It was AMAZING! Nothing I can't find bad things about this place. Food was great, service was awesome and seating is indoor and outdoor so we can take our dogs. We had Roosevelt Salad. Not too much dressing and amount of salad was big enough. We loved it. We also ordered Margherita Pizza and Cheese Pizza. Both were amazing and I loved Cheese Pizza especially. It was not so too busy on 7/3 around 6p. It's only one street away from the Main Street but I loved this hidden gem. I will definitely come back when we visit Carlsbad next time for sure.

The best!! It's not soggy it's Neapolitan!!!

My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.
