What a cute, small restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating. I didn't go inside, so I can speak to the interior, but the outdoor area had several large bench/picnic like tables. The seats were not incredibly comfortable but it did the job.We called ahead of time and told them we would have 12 people. They informed us that they didn't have a table large enough to accommodate us, which I expected, but we were able to split up into two groups without a problem. The food took a long time to get to us and one table was finished eating before the other table of ours even got their food. I get this, because we were a large party, but it was kinda a pain. I had a burger that was a typical burger and tasty. I was very pleased that they had gluten free and vegan options, especially in a small town. My husband and I are visiting the area for a few nights and decided to try this place. After waiting an hour for our food, it was bland at best. We then waited another 25 minutes for the bill in which I had to go up to the bar to pay as we were sick of waiting. As we are walking out, our waitress had the audacity to follow us out and ask why we didn't leave a tip. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours for a drink and ordered specials. Our waitress can make her customers wait as long as we did for our drinks, food and bill, but does not hesitate to run after us to our vehicle asking for a tip. Although we live hours away, I guarantee that if we visit this area again, we will NEVER stop at this establishment or recommend it to other friends or family that frequent the area. read more

Took forever for the appetizer of cheese curds and then ordered just a steak salad and the Ironwood hamburger that took another hour to receive while inquiring periodically with the owner. i drove 3 hours north and had my day planned. I heard the place had amazing food. went with my girlfriend and her family. ordered steak for everyone 2 of us ordered medium well and the other was well done. got our salads and the dressing was almost frozen the tomatoes on it were frozen. then 40 minutes later got our food.... the steak came with a spoon full of beans 5 tiny potato bites the steak that we wanted medium was rare and bloody even smelt undercooked the well done steak we ordered was cooked medium rare. not very happy. They said it took so long because they couldn't get the well done steak well done..... and then when I asked them if we can get the cheese curds we ordered as a appetizer for 11 bucks for free they said no sorry. each steak was 32 dollars and cooked bad and took forever and small. I will never go back there. the cheese curds we ordered for 11 bucks was a tiny handful and were hollow shells of cheese. very unsatisfying. It's a bar. Not a restaurant. Just order beer and you should be ok. You could get something better at a fast food chain. Far better. So if you want to hang out in a hot building and drink warm beer, this is your place. As far as service, it took 45 minutes to get a salad and wrap. Our friends drove us to this place to try the drinks & the food. I did not see anything on tap but they had a pretty good assortment of beers, sans Guinness, which is my favorite. On the food side, my friends loved both their burgers (Atomic & Vegan Spy vs. Spy). My wife had the Woodland ravioli. My wife said it was pretty good but would have been better if they had bechamel sauce (ran out). Hard to find vegan options in most of the UP, but this joint has some good ones! We went with the bean burger and the vegan fish fry. And while the bean burger was good, the vegan "fish" was awesome! Our research told us this was the thing to get, and the research did not lie. The person behind us was picking up two orders of vegan fish fry as well! Always wanted to try this place. Was a busy night. Seating was tight after a long wait. Most of the food was alright. The lighting was so poor that we had to use our iPhone light to see if the walleye was cooked. It was not lol. The rest of the meal was cooked enough and tasted fine. The waitress doubted we were telling the truth so we used our iPhones to show her how raw it was. We like sushi but not walleye sushi we told her lol. I am really sorry to write a bad review, especially for a privately owned restaurant but the food was horrible. I cannot believe that a kitchen would serve such terrible food. The onion ring appetizer had six small burnt onion rings for like $8.00. The kids meal had hearty bread, which is odd for kids and hardly any cheese. The beer cheese soup tasted old and gross. The chicken strip basket was ok but no way the fries are fresh cut fries, they are frozen and nothing special. The shrimp basket was supposed to have six shrimp, it only had four shrimp and was $14! And one of the shrimp was some weird piece. The chicken quesadillas had hardly any meat or veggies and the chips and salsa were so boring and generic. Our server was nice. The bartender was rude and acted like she couldn't be bothered with us yet that's where I had to pay the bill. I also got charged a credit card charge fee. I spent all that money on bad food, so disappointing. Plus it was so hot in the restaurant. Just an all around waste of time and money. I hope others have a better experience. read more

I came here with my husband and baby recently when I was back home visiting family. I was curious if the food was as good as it used to be, and it was a good day to sit out on their beautiful patio. Overall we had a great dining experience! We started off with some delicious beers on draft and an order of the cheese curds. They were not the delicious gooey greasy mess that they used to be, but they still tasted good enough for my husband to polish them off quickly. For my main course I had the garden salad with chicken. I was thrilled to find that they still had the same salad on the menu with tons of delicious toppings including green peppers, mushrooms, sprouts and sunflower seeds. When the salad came out it didn't have the sprouts as listed on the menu but when I brought it up with my server she was quick to correct the issue by bringing out a side of sprouts. It hit the spot, tasting exactly how I remember it! My husband got the chicken ceasar wrap with fries and was very happy. He liked that the wrap had a good balance of juicy chicken, green lettuce and tomatoes. He also liked that the wrap was sun-dried tomato flavored. The fries were perfectly crispy (I also sampled these and enjoyed them). I was really happy to have the same great meal that made me love Don & GG's when I lived in Ironwood, and my husband was just happy to have a great meal on a nice patio. Stopped here on a Monday night as we were passing through. Food wasn't bad but service from our waitress was awful. It was a beautiful evening for early October and we saw several customers eating outside so we asked to be seated outside. Our server said she preferred that we not because they were "slammed" and it would be easier if we didn't so we sat inside. She took our drink & meal orders timely but we waited 45 minutes or more for our 2 sandwiches which would have been okay if our server would have come back to see if we needed anything or let us know approximate ETA but she never did; in fact, I wanted another beer so I had to go get it at the bar myself. The bartender was very apologetic. I tried to get our waitress's attention after a half hour of waiting; asked her what she thought the ETA would be and she turned her back on me and put her hands up as if to say it wasn't her problem. So insulting. The bartender ended up coming over to our table and apologized again for the poor service. I don't know if they will survive if that kind of service continues. We did appreciate the bartender going out of her way though. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with such good vegan options in Ironwood. I had the Spy vs. Spy burger which is their own recipe made with black beans, sunflower seeds, and oats. It was great to have a "burger" patty made with real ingredients instead of a processed soy-based patty. The burger is also made with lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli, and it was delicious.
