Fun place to visit. Lots of history and bulletin holes to prove it. Beautiful dining areas in this massive establishment. Food was good not great. Started with shared pasta salad and cheddar spread best eaten with bread sticks. Warm rye bread was an add on. We ordered the appetizer special - cheese sticks deep fried with marinara sauce. Would pass on it next time. Four adults and two children in the party. Adults had filet mignon, baby back ribs and two had fish fry. The steak was prepared perfectly and came with a baked potato. Ribs were good but they were not typical baby back as expected and came with a potato pancake with apple sauce. Fish fry was generous and served with cole slaw and baked potato. I spilt a wedge salad and it was delicious. Romaine lettuce split and loaded with blue cheese, tomato's, bacon and a blue cheese dressing. Kids had grilled cheese sandwich with fries, and the other had pasta with red sauce. Both meals were clean plate club. Our server was excellent. The meal was timed perfectly and we were kept informed as the night went on. Would definitely return. Recommend without any reservations. My family of 5 visited there tonight at 4:45pm. We were greeted rudely by the hostess who said everything is booked with reservations. She said "you should have made a reservation thru Facebook, and if you want to run the restaurant, you can go ahead"We checked the website and Facebook and found no mention of reservations recommended or preferred. Known for its historical significance as the location of a John Dillinger 'shoot-out'. It's located amongst the WI woods. Evidence of the shoot- out can be found primarily in one area of the restaurant. Overall the Lodge is comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Off the road in Manatowish Waters, Wisco; this place is famous for a shootout with legendary Gangster John Dillinger. The bullet holes in the walls and windows are authentic. They serve Food and Drink as well. Was there with a bunch of folks from Berwyn, IL which was a Czech Stronghold back in the day with a Bohemian restaurant on practically every block. When we saw "Little Bohemia", we were eager customers. Pre-prandial de rigueur in WIsco calls for Brandy Old Fashioneds, and they were quite tasty. The menu actually is more Germanic than Czech, but that's ok. Close enough. There was a Bohemian Rye bread service with a trio of compound butters, all so average I cant remember what they were except for the one wot had chopped olives. That one was fine. There was a relish tray that had a bizzare spread of Peas and Peanuts in a white cream sauce. We couldn't figure out what to do with it. Never saw anything like it in any of the many Bohemian (or Deutsche) joints any of us had ever been to. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fab either. Now there was a Mushroom soup offered and it was really really yum! Could have had 3 bowls of that and called it a night. For entrees, Roast Duck was on the specials and one of our party got the last order before it was 86'd. Most of us were going to order it as well, so hearing it was off the twig made us scramble back to the menu. My pal who knows the difference said the duck was great. I swung with a pork schnitzel, spaetzle and rotkohl. All three were pretty good. Not as good as the Czech joints in Berwyn, but good nonetheless. Wife had a steak which she was not impressed with. That Schnitzel was $32, by the way, which I thought was a little dear. $32 will just about buy a fine dinner for 2 in any of the remaining Czech joints in the Berwyn area. We ordered the spinach artichoke salmon and when received, it was way undercooked and mushy. I had a beef soup and it was filled with tomatoes and only one small teaspoon of beef. The waitress was old and snooty. When I ordered the soup, she said well that's boring! Unbelievable attitude. We have literally been to thousands of restaurants across the country, and my wife loves salmon. On a scale from 1 to 10, the salmon was a 2 at best, and my soup was a 1. We eat out all the time, and the waitress with the attitude made us feel like we never ate at a restaurant before. Just pathetic service. Wished we got a different waitress. If you're going to Lille Bohemia, you are going for the ambiance and history. This exterior of the restaurant still has all the bullet holes from the famous FBI and John Dillingers shot out! The interior has lots of old newspaper clippings about the big standoff and more bullet holes. It is very very cool. The waitress we had was so kinda and was on top of it. Our food came out fast and she was quick to bring the check when we asked. She was great and made our experience great!! The food was pretty good. Nothing too extraordinary. The rolls were amazing. They were soft and warm. Just perfect. We had the buffalo wings and spring rolls as appetizers and they were great picks. The wings have some zing to them and were so tender. They came right off the bone. The spring rolls were tasty as well and came with a sweet chili sauce that has great spice to it. I had the Chicken Masala and it was very good. The mushrooms and sauce paired so great with the chicken. The chicken had a pretty thick breading which I don't love but it was still good! Little Bohemia Lodge is not only an historic place, the story of how the FBI attempted to ambush him and his associates is legendary. Johnny Depp even starred as Dillinger in the Movie Public Enemy, that was even filmed here. There are even preserved bullet holes in the walls and windows of the failed raid. If you time it right, you may even be able to tour Dillinger's room. While the history is remarkable, the restaurant is too! When making reservations for a Saturday night, they were kind enough to reserve an end cut of their fantastic Prime Rib for me...... Our evening at the Lodge began with live entertainment in the bar and an excellent Brandy Old-fashioned. The guitar player was excellent and took requests...... We were having such a good time listening to the music that it was almost a shame when our table was ready. The decor was right out of the 1930's with history of their most famous night all around..... including the stairway leading to Dillinger's room. Our server brought the menus, told us about the specials and took our orders for hooch..... (cocktails)..... My lovely moll, I mean bride ‍ ordered the Filet with a baked potato and for myself it was the Prime Rib end cut also with a baked potato. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked and the end cut was not only an ample portion it was one of the best I've had. With how ample the portions were, we didn't have room for dessert. The quality of the food, service and more than ample portions has us planning on returning. Next time not only will we save room for dessert, after dinner we'll also enjoy after dinner cocktails and the live entertainment. A well earned/deserved 5 Star Review. read more

Very cool place with a neat story behind it. If you dine here you have to walk around the building and see the car and bullet shots in the windows. They have have the newspaper clipping and things in display cases right when you walk in. The bar is very cool. We sat in the enclosed patio section. I got the special for that night which was the chicken Oscar - breaded chicken with crab, asparagus and Hollandaise on top with a side of their red mashed potatoes. It was delicious. The soup that night was creamy chicken dumpling and it was steamy hot and had great flavor. The side salad was also good - their house dressing is celery seed vinaigrette which I ordered but the server brought me ranch instead on accident so I didn't get to try it. The Bohemia pavos lacked flavor - wouldn't recommend that dish. I also ordered their special cocktail which was a jalapeño pineapple margarita ($13), it had no pineapple juice in it and was pretty spicy with the big slice of jalapeño in it. We had a reservation for 10 on the last day of our family vacation, made through an "AI assistant" at White Oak Grill on Friday. They called us back 15 minutes before our reservation time to tell us that they actually did not have room for us. We struggled to find a place to take all 10 of us, so we split up. Myself, my husband, and our two kids went to a few places before trying Little Bohemia and didn't have any luck. Even though they were incredibly busy, the hostess graciously managed to squeeze us in. Our server was so sweet, the service was quick, and the food was amazing. We had the fish fry, a couple appetizers, and some well-made drinks. Obviously, the history alone is worth a trip, but the staff is so friendly and accommodating. We started coming to Little Bo about a year ago and it's now a bi weekly staple since we moved to Mercer. From the friendly bar that makes fantastic drinks to the delicious food they prepare , everything is top notch. I usually get the hand cut New York Strip steak with a wedge salad but have tried the Walleye, pork shank, and also the ribs. All dishes are simply fantastic. They need to accept everyone in their group. Please don't separate groups and have half sit in another room.There were other tables not used that could accommodate the group we had. The splitting dinners is not needed for an extra charge. Some parents like to share adult dinners with kids and not choose to feed them off the kids meals. The waitress we had was very upset at anything we asked her and didn't like how we took our time with things. The hostess seating people is very uptight and needs to loosen up. I am sad to say that we returned the next night and found the experience disturbing. First, the water had a foul, sewerish smell. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she mentioned that the management was aware of the issue and they were working to correct it. I don't understand why bottled water wasn't brought in when management first noticed the problem and used until the problem was corrected.. Second, we found the entrée's very inconsistent. I was very satisfied with my New York strip steak, but unfortunately, my brother found the ravioli rather dry and worse yet, my sister-in-law found her dinner, although seemingly fine while she was consuming it, very disagreeable in the long run. Third, there is no dessert menu in this restaurant, at least not a decent one! This beautiful and historic lodge screams out for a homemade dessert such as strawberry shortcake, but the best we could do was a crème brûlée for the three of us to share, but when it arrived, we found it surprisingly small, not only in stature, but taste. Fourth , a very good restaurant will honor the principle of consistency. That principle was violated over the two nights that we ate there. The first night I found the restaurant deserving of a five star review, but the second night I found it deserving of only a one star review, although I will admit that if we had only gone the second night I might have given it a two or even possibly a three star review; however, the violation of the principle of consistency guaranteed a one star review. read more

I live near "Li'l Bo" and have dined there many times. Often it is a matter of convenience, because the experience can go either way. The service is best when the place is humming. Some of my favorites are the spicy shrimp appetizer,the romaine BLT salad. Weekends often offer fresh fish from Lake Superior, and are generally very good. Our family has always looked forward to going to Little Bohemia when we visit Northern Wisconsin, as my wife grew up vacationing there with her family as a child. It has always been a cool atmosphere, even if the food quality has declined in the past few years. This year my wife and I ong with our two daughters and our nephew showed up just after opening time. We have never had to have a reservation. When we showed up they said they were booked up until 8:15 the following day. Even as I looked around and observed no less that 20 empty tables. We then decided to just sit in the bar area and order appetizers as it was open seating. Once seated we were then advised that they would not be serving appetizers at the bar as well. It kind of felt like they didn't want to accommodate us and our children. So until they get their act together I don't recommend this place. read more

Heard this place had been going downhill fast, NEVER expected to have such a poor conversation when inquiring the best way to make a reservation if phones are sent to a busy signal, and fb messages and emails aren't responded to. The bartender was pleasant and drinks were properly prepared - not too strong. Here in the northwoods most bartenders way overpour on the alcohol. The musician in the bar played soft and pleasant contemporary music. And of course the historic building is nice. Then on to dinner. Menu offerings were varied but unfortunately the one I selected was the most ill prepared foul excuse for food I have ever had the misfortune of eating in a supper club. The waitress was very kind when I told her it was inedible and why it was inedible. She offered to get me something else - but I wasn't willing to risk it - so she took it off the bill. Little Bohemia Lodge is housed in a 1929-era rustic lodge complete with some memorabilia on display from a legendary federal raid in 1934 involving John Dillinger and his gang. I wasn't there for the gang ties, I was there to enjoy dinner in an old supper club. We arrived just before 4:00 on a Saturday, and their Yelp hours showed they were open, however there was a handful of people waiting in the parking lot for the place to open. At 4:01 we tried the door and it opened. I submitted revised hours to Yelp based on what the restaurant's web site shows. We sat in the bar and were served drinks after a few minutes, and a bit later we were talking with the bartender who said we could put our name in for dinner with the hostess around 4:45. Around 4:25 or so he helpfully pointed out the hostess to us, so we put our name in. She said we would be seated around 5:15. Our pager went off about 10 minutes before that. We were seated in a corner of a middle dining room with a view of the lake while brat pack tunes lightly played. A few minutes later our server came by and took our orders. The menu was not terribly large, but had a decent variety. I ordered the chicken piccata, added a French onion soup and for my side chose a salad with celery seed balsamic. Next, our server came by with rye bread, crackers and a salsa cheese spread in true supper club style. The spread was tasty and a nice touch. My soup and salad came out together. The celery seed dressing was unique and quite good. The soup was delicious and savory. The chicken piccata was juicy with lots of capers and was just lightly hand breaded. The only thing that seemed off was that we each just had a thin paper napkin. It seemed like cloth napkins or the thicker banquet style paper napkins would have been more appropriate. Service was good and we had a nice time overall. Great to see a lovely building with such history still providing a nice supper club experience. read more

Had a reservation for 6 people, was seated 30min past. Ordered right away. A big group of 14 came in after our order was taken. 1hr later we got our appetizers. The waiter comes back and said the prime rib was gone. However we heard the large group order prime after us giving our order. After waiting 2hrs we still did not have our salads even. We asked for our waiter and he mentions that the kitchen is also out of romaine lettuce. The other large table was served prime rib and salads no problem. Absolutely disrespectful to show up 1hr after our order was suppose to be in and need to substitute for a large party without a reservation and was seated after us. We walked out, waiter apologized and said don't worry about the bill when we offered. went to Culver's instead. We even stopped at the entrance to talk to the owner but no one came out. If you're going, make a reservation and go early. Order right away. Wait... I guess none of that matters if a large group comes in and the owner doesn't care. Note to the owner, please be nicer to your patrons. I 10000% get that food items run out and good staff is hard to find. But don't over commit to seating folks and spread out when they are seated. So you don't flood the kitchen and over work the staff you have. read more
