When we arrived rather early there were only two other tables filled and a few people at the bar. We were seated immediately and served a delicious bread basket. As the night progressed so did the people. We had our order in mind before we arrived, Ropa Vieja and Palomilla Steak. I was able to substitute the rice and beans for a very fresh side salad. The atmosphere felt like a comfortable authentic Cuban restaurant and we were amazed to hear they have been here 35 years. Our sever had been there 25 years. We ended our dinner with Decaf cuban coffee - an oxymoron but we slept well that night and dreamt of our delicious meal ! It will be a regular stop from now on.

On this visit, I ordered the classic snapper broiled and substituted potatoes for the rice. As expected, the portion was quite generous. The potatoes were flavorful and well-cooked, and while the sautéed vegetables were fairly basic, they rounded out the plate well. My snapper came with an island sauce on the side, but the fish was flavorful enough on its own that I skipped it to keep the meal a bit healthier. I also sampled my grandpa's order, the Snapper Florentine special. It was very good, featuring a bright lemony sauce and a rich spinach-and-cheese stuffing. While the stuffing meant there was slightly less fish than the standard entree, the portion was still substantial. That being said, I have hesitations regarding the quality of the fish and oils used here. Even though it's a "light" meal, my stomach occasionally feels a little off afterward, so it may not quite meet the highest quality standards. I personally wouldn't return without my grandparents asking me to go, but, it's still a reliable and filling meal. I'll likely try either the roasted half chicken next time or stick with the broiled snapper, which I prefer out of everything I've tried so far.

It's family owned, and you can feel that right away in how warm and welcoming the place is. The coffee is always solid, but the affogato is the real star. The espresso is rich and smooth, the ice cream is just right, and together they disappear faster than I'd like to admit. Honestly, the only downside is that the affogato keeps "vanishing" before I can pretend I'm pacing myself. If you're in Boca and want something simple and genuinely good, this place is an easy pick. They have a nice offering also of food and baked goods. The location in Delray beach is also another favorite. Can't wait to come back.
