It was okay. The fish tacos weren't the best I've had but not the worst I've had either. Just missing something flavor wise. The fish was pretty thin too. Kids enjoyed their steak tacos. Rice and beans were decent. Staff were friendly and fast. read more

We spent the weekend in Grand Ledge to check out some highly recommended restaurants in the area. This was one of them that we checked out and this one was by far my favorite. The food was amazingly good, plus you get good portions for a good price. The ambiance was exactly what I would want from an authentic Mexican restaurant and the service was great. I've gone here 3 times already. Let me tell you... I grew up 3 hours from Mexico in Texas. Moving here, I miss GOOD mexican food so much.. This has done it for me and more! The service is always amazing, I've had multiple different servers. Jose himself is normally there, even helping pick up plates and helping his staff. The setting is very spacious, even when busy. Sometimes my food takes a while, but when we get it, it's always fresh!! Even the togo portions are sized well! And fresh, in a quality togo container (which is important!) Give them a chance! First I hardly ever write a review good or bad. But today after many years of going from taco shop to taco shop asking for special requests for a simple true San Diego favorite the California Burrito. Don Jose's staff has done the job. A large tortilla stuffed with carne asada, cheese, pico di gallo, sour crema, and fresh french fries. Wrapped in paper and foil to hold it all together. You expertly peel it back from top to bottom. Again thank you to the staff that indulged my craving. If you are like me and once lived in the san diego area or ever visited and remember the endless taco shops that all had one thing in common the Cali Burritto maybe just maybe Don Jose's will whip you one up. I cant guarantee it, but maybe. Disclaimer its not on their menu and they might not make it. Or maybe you are to scared to try a burritto that isnt filled with rice and beans and smothered with sauce requiring a knife and fork. Next maybe they can replicate the delicious squirt bottles of red (Chile de arbol) and green sauce (tomatillo). read more
