Amazing food, reasonably priced, and very friendly people. Great experience. Will be back for more!

Server was very kind and helped me navigate the menu, the restaurant itself was nicely decorated and the atmosphere was pleasant. A single taco is $4 which wouldn't be a problem if the meat was seasoned and the size of the taco wasn't smaller than my palm. The empanada was lacking in flavor and meat.

I've been looking for the perfect and most delicious Cuban sandwich this one was pretty good , pickles were too thin and not enough mustard. Yuca cheese balls were really fresh and tasty. The service was ok nothing wrong but just nothing to talk about.. prices are decent , if you are close you should try this place

Small place with great service and great food. Need I say more? I don't know if I'll ever be back to Lansing but if I do I would visit here. That's all I can say about that. Except who knew you could get Good Cuban Food in little Lansing?!?

While visiting in Lansing a couple of weeks ago, a friend suggested to try this restaurant, as I had inquired about Cuban food before. And I am so happy that I took the advice, because man was this food delicious! I ordered carry-out, the Arroz con Pollo dish (Chicken, Yellow Rice and Plantains) and Beef Empanadas. I forgot what type of sandwich my friend ordered, but it looked good as well! The portion size was huge, and the food was so flavorful and fresh! I definitely look forward to ordering again whenever I'm back in the Lansing area.

I love this little place! I always stop in for the Cuban coffee. Servers are friendly, I love the plantains and the tamales are big. It's nice for a quick lunch and a perfect spot to sit and chat with a friend.

We were looking at the menu in contemplation and two separate ppl stopped to tell us how good it is. They were right! I've nephews had Cuban food, but it didn't disappoint!

Rice and Beans 8oz - kiddo loved it so much he literally licked his plate!!!

AMAZING!!!! I'm from FL but live in Grand Rapids and haven't had good Cuban food in years. This place made my heart so happy! It was incredible!!!! Food was fantastic, service was quick, kind and helpful. We brought our two kids (4 & 18mo) and they were so kind to our kids and our kids devoured their food! Our 4 year old literally licked his plate clean! I wish this place was in GR because I would go every day! (We had the ropa veija, vaca frita, Cuban sandwich and maduros. Everything was amazing!

My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon because the ratings looked good and we like to try new places wherever we are. Finding ourselves near downtown Lansing we spotted an opportunity. We thought maybe it wouldn't be very busy because it was the weekend in the business/ political district and for the most part it was crickets down there but La Cocina was hoppin. There was a 45 min wait on our take out order. We decided to go for it anyway and walked around a bit while waiting. The restaurant was packed out. I got a couple of tacos and a beef empanada. My husband got the Cuban sandwich meal. The carne asada taco was really bland. I wasn't expecting that. I also got the shredded beef taco and it was delicious. The empanada was yummy as well. I'd just skip the pork taco next time. My husband loved his Cuban sandwich, especially the bread.

We never try Cuban food before so we came to this place with no expectation how the food is since we can't compare it with any other Cuban restaurant around. We went there on Friday night just before dinner time. It wasn't that busy at all. Once we entered we were greeted by cashier/server and she told us to sit wherever we want then she came to us with menu. Server was good she offered some explanation about the food. Our food came in quite fast for the type of food we wanted. We ordered beef and pork. They both were excellent! We also had papas relenas which is fried mashed casava with ground beef in it.

My roommate had to sacrifice her own dinner so the other could eat and I'm here scrambling to find her something hot and still open for delivery. Management was zero help- they immediately tried to chuck the Grubhub driver under the bus as "it's hard to get in contact with people who order about stuff like this and oftentimes the drivers end up dropping the orders because of it". You didn't even try, guys. You could have saved this with a text message or a phone call and you couldn't even do THAT. My roommate can't eat a "sorry" note, guys. After some talking, management authorized a full refund, which I suppose is the least they can do about this, and Grubhub also refunded the price of the sandwich and a five-dollar voucher for all the trouble. For me, it's far and away a bite of an olive burger. That combination of charbroiled burger and olive sauce does it for me every time. This month I was elated we got to review one of the originators. Weston's Kewpee Burger is a Lansing institution. There's little disputing that. Situated downtown on Washington Square and using a recipe for olive sauce that is older than 95 years, the restaurant is nostalgic in all the right ways. The décor is unapologetic in referencing their history and with good reason. Serving comfort food with quality service to downtown's current movers and shakers and former residents who have returned and want an instant reminder of home is something they should be proud of. In pre-pandemic times, it wasn't unusual for a line out the door during the lunch time rush. During the pandemic, Weston's ownership was among the most compassionate with their staff and worked hard to keep the business open even as much of their traditional foot traffic has yet to return. However, you can tell the folks that work here enjoy not just one another but making great food for their customers. Essential During my visits to Weston's this month, I cheerfully tried the Kolossal Olive Burger. Appropriately named as this sandwich is massive, the burger perfectly cooked, and topped with a heaping serving of olive sauce (Chopped, not minced) just the way I like it. There are several local establishments that offer an olive burger and even a few national chains that attempt to offer local flavor. Few of them compared to this tried-and-true version. As I stood in line, there were two gentlemen from south of Jackson who were in town exploring the Capital City. They both ordered olive burgers and as I walked out, I asked them how it was. "It doesn't matter much what else we find today; this burger was worth the drive." Indeed. Comfort Classics My culinary comrades and I sampled several other items off the menu. The Turkey Burger was juicy, surprisingly flavorful, and delightfully crispy- which is atypical of most turkey burgers. The onion rings were solid, but not as good as the sweet potato fries or the regular French fries. Both are seasoned brilliantly- brown sugar on the sweet potato and a light dusting of Greek seasoning on the regular. The chili was hearty and balanced- not too many beans or tomatoes or not enough meat and welcomed on a chilly January afternoon. The restaurant also offers several traditional daily specials- meatloaf and mashed potatoes, bean and ham soup, pot roast, tuna pasta salad, or mac & cheese, all depending on the day. I was fortunate to be in on a day that the goulash was available. Packed with herbs, tomatoes, and ground beef, huddled up with macaroni spirals and served with garlic Texas toast, it was an absolute hit and I had to arm wrestle others in my house for the leftovers. Award Winning The Weston Kewpee Burger team were recently awarded the judges award for their olive burger at a competition on South Beach, Miami. In honor of that recognition, the restaurant now offers a Miami burger- a crumbled burger with a cheesy olive sauce. This olive burger 2.0 is my new favorite in town. It differs from the traditional olive burger in yummy, savory ways. The brininess of the olive sauce somehow works even better in this iteration and the crunchy, flavorful crumbles are a wonderful twist. The best innovations are rooted in tradition.
