Don Knabe Community is a very nice park. I come here with my family quite often. My son runs around while I just walk. My son like to see the duck.

This is a very nice and clean park with quite a bit of shady spots to choose from. Dog friendly too!

Don Knabe Community Regional Park is one of my favorite parks to walk, jog, or simply clear my mind. I've been here for picnics and other gatherings, and it's always peaceful and well maintained. The park is clean, and everyone I've encountered has been friendly. There's so much to do here--walking paths, a fishing pond with ducks and geese, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, a skateboard park, picnic tables, and a community center. Parking is never an issue, which is a huge plus. It's a beautiful park and a great place to spend time with family or enjoy some quiet time on your own.

Coming from the south, driving to the pb courts requires one circumnavigation. Wish they added a shortcut from Del Amo Blvd.

+ 10 nice permanent pickleball courts. + Free open play. + Friendly, peaceful ambience. . I heard you have to check in at the front desk before playing. I arrived late evening; the office was closed, so I walked straight to the courts. - Courts a bit dirty from the nearby trees. + Good amount of parking. - Coming from the south, driving to the pb courts requires circumnavigating the park lol. Wish they built a shorter vehicle path from Del Amo Blvd. . At night, the lighting is ok. Not as bright as at Veterans Park, Tustin. . I haven't checked for restrooms or water.

I would not recommend walking around Don Knabe Park ESPECIALLY if you are visiting with dogs. The pavements are caked with bird droppings. It will get trapped between the furs between the paws, nail beds, and transfer to car seats. They are challenging to clean even with gloves, proper cleaning products like paw cleaning sprays and paper towels. But if you don't clean them, everything inside the car will have traces of bird droppings which is a nightmare all on its own. They are laden with ear and eye infections causing germs both for dogs and humans. Not to mention the very sight of watching my dog attempting to lick the literal s*it off made my stomach churn. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with just that on a Sunday afternoon. I was hysterical by the time I gave up and returned to my vehicle afterwards. It was the most disgusting dog walk I have had in a long time. My first review post got taken down for calling bird droppings as something what most would call it -- bird s*it. I s*it you not. I hope the park maintenance team can pressure wash the pavement and also have better avian control in the near future. Birds carry many communicable diseases and having that much bird feces everywhere is a great way to cause public health problems.

Big beautiful park with a huge lake. There are ducks and geese, and they were all friendly and just minding their own business. There was a small section by the lake with bird poop, but everywhere else was nice and clean. There were a few big groups of people holding their own events. They also have a fenced off pool. Very nice park to walk around. People were walking their dogs and even roller skating.

I added a few updates to my previous review. This quiet community park features a central lake perfect for fishing, remote-controlled boats, relaxation, and more. It's a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Most recently, I've come to walk the trails and get a simple workout at one of the two outdoor gyms. These gyms use your body weight for resistance, which is excellent for all fitness levels. This park has a lot to offer. * Sports Fields and tennis courts * Swimming Pool (open during Summer hours) * Fishing with trout and catfish stocking, depending on the season. Family fishing events are also available once or twice a year. * Indoor and outdoor basketball courts * Skate park (free to use) * Tennis Pro Shop and Lessons * Pickleball courts are available through reservation only * Picnic areas, some of which are covered * Jungle Gyms for the kids * Annual fairs and events for the community * Pokemon stops and gyms * Plenty of parking on most days. Events and sports days can make it challenging Quick facts: * One loop jogging around the park is approx. 1.5 miles (based on my GPS) * Picnic areas are first come, first served, or must be reserved through the park website for the covered lots. * Security patrols the park. * Coyote Creek Bikeway is adjacent to the park and goes to Seal Beach. * A variety of ducks, geese, and other feathered friends tend to take over some of the park. Be cautious of the bird droppings, which (I think) get washed once a week.

Regional park with everything the community need. Skate park, fitness area, lake, fishing, ducks, tennis court, baseball field, walking path, small amphitheater large parking lot and you can bike and walk on the river trail. Clean restrooms. Hand washing station in the middle of the park with benches to enjoy your picnic/ bbq.

Nice job utilizing space and fitting a 5th court on this side!

Beautiful and spacious park; however, my review is solely based on their pickleball courts. This was the second time we've played at these courts (invited by a friend who is a member). We came during the "open play hours", checked in and paid a $10 drop-in fee at the office for the "challenge courts" side, which has 5 courts. There are also more courts on the "grand stand" side as well, but I'm assuming those courts are rented out and reserved by the members. All in all, we had a great time playing with our friends as well as, playing with other fellow pickball enthusiasts. Till next time...

7/15/23 Just happened to come by because my brother has a booth here at Don Knabe Park for the Philippine American Friendship Day celebration. This park is Ginormous! The last time I was here was eons ago, when we first emigrated to the US. There's a lake from where we entered & parked. We passed by two swimming pools. The grass is well maintained. I have to admit, it was not an organized event. My brother says that each booth advertised on social media but the whole event was not fully presented/-hey, I didn't even hear about it until my brother mentioned it. I'm impressed at how encompassing this community park is and I would have to return to fully provide a proper review. Until next time...

It's a nice place to go fish even if they aren't buying. Best things to use are small fly lures!

Plenty of room so it didn't feel overcrowded either. Only thing watch out for duck poop on the walkways and grass, especially near the water. Overall, great spot for families. Definitely coming back

They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation.

Highly recommend these courts for pickleball too because there are a lot of courts, friendly players and it's not too advanced of play. Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street.
