This is the kind of food and service everybody needs in their lives. In fact, this was some of the best food I've had on all of I-20. It was so good, we just kept ordering stuff to try. If you're in the middle of Texas and are starving to death, skip the fast food and go to Don Luis! HOLY GUACAMOLE this restaurant is so freaking good my little family is in heaven. REAL FOOD. Everything we got tasted homemade. The salad lettuce had not one speck on it. The food was clean and delicious down to the fresh made french fries and salad dressing. We never would've guessed. Hidden gem in Baird Texas. Tried the tilapia fish tacos and they were delicious. Friendly waitstaff. Clean and courteous.

The Mi Gusto Plate was delicious and hubby enjoyed his brisket tacos. Next time I hope we come by on a Wednesday to enjoy the $1 margaritas. Can't beat that price! Great daily specials. Looks like it's a popular local restaurant. read more

Cuban food in a tiny Texas town!! What?? It's true!! It's actually a Mexican and Cuban restaurant. I gave 4 stars only because the food was a little underseasoned, but seriously a bit of salt is an easy fix! I am just so excited to have found Cuban food. Lechon Asado, fried yucca, and congris, oh my!! Hubby had Fricassee de Pollo con papas, yum!! If you like Cuban food you should hop off of I-20 at Baird and give them a try!! We love having a Mexican restaurant in town. The food is always very good. And they have some delicious hamburgers if your not in the mood for Mexican or Cuban food. The chicken on the fajitas is so tender and tasty. I love to eat the Cowboy Chimichanga with chicken fajita meat inside. But the have so many other items that you would love. I recently ate at the Baird Don Luis Cafe. Food was good. My complaint was the techno music playing loudly through the sound system. I go to a restaurant to eat and converse with my friends and family not shout over the music. I was told that the staff was no allowed to turn it down or off. Not my taste in music. We love having this restaurant in Baird but they continue to have a problem with service. We have only had one great waitress and that is Jessica. We have started to ask for her every time we come which is once a week. Everyone else must be doing the same because we can't get her now. We wait and wait for chips and our drink order. Most of the food is great but we may have to start going to Abilene again. The only complaint on the food is it seems like the oil has not been changed in awhile.
