**4.5 stars Tried this spot for the first time and it genuinely caught me off guard--in a good way. We showed up around 3pm on a Sunday and waited about 30 minutes, which felt fair once we realized how small and cozy the place is. Seating is limited, so a bit of patience helps. The food delivered--everything was solid--and the service moved along at a nice pace without feeling rushed. The only real headache? Parking. It's pretty tight and can take some circling to snag a spot. All in, a really enjoyable lunch and definitely worth a return visit... maybe just with a parking strategy next time.

Holy cow this was so delicious! Flew in from Houston and found this close to our hotel. Best Mexican food I've had. Ever. And the margaritas were SO good. Great service and quaint atmosphere! 10/10!

Don Maguey is, by far, the best Mexican restaurant that I've been to and quite frankly one of my favorites of any kind, at least on the food. The service was just okay and the music too loud for my liking, making it perhaps not ideal for families with children. It was very busy and not necessarily spacious. However, the food is transcendent. Everything that we tried was outstanding, even the chicken nachos and quesadilla. They season and cook everything properly. The beef tacos were fresh and tasty and the quesabirria tacos were even better. Great flavor and balance. What takes this restaurant to an elite level is the mole. It is exquisite and a rare find.

Don Maguey is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Miami. Recently I realized that I had not made a review for Don Maguey and it is totally worth coming here. Service is always good. Super friendly waiters and an amazing kitchen make this restaurant a great experience every time you come here. The menu isn't big but it truly has everyone's favorite dishes. Tacos, sopes, enchiladas, mole and many, many more. The key is everything is made fresh daily. The al pastor tacos, green enchiladas, birria and the mole sauce are all incredibly delicious. Try their micheladas and also the spicy margaritas (both super good). The restaurant ambiance is very cozy and inviting. Its simple but nicely decorated. Give it a try.

If you are looking for good Mexican food in an informal setting, this is your place. Parking is limited so plan accordingly! Flavors are good and fresh and the service is friendly and prompt. We will be back.

Great service and nice place. However, they didn't have available the dish I came for, I understand it was late. The food was good but It needed more flavor. I ordered from their food truck from and it was way better.

Went with friends on a Wednesday evening and it got quite crowded. It seemed like it may have been a neighborhood place. The service was not that great. Tiny basket of chips were brought to the table as well as 2 teeny tiny sauces for dipping. One red and one green. There was no salsa offered. The food was cooked fresh and everything came out very quickly and in a pretty presentation. I had a beef burrito which was ok. It seemed on the small side to me. I would try something different next time.

This small place is located in a strip mall. The local police were eating at a table in the back which is a good sign. We were not disappointed! Everything here was great. The food was hot and delicious and the beer was ice cold. Service was excellent too.

I decided to stop by after seeing a food review on Instagram, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The food was great, the service was quick, and there's just something special about a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant that hits different. Overall, it's a solid spot with fair pricing. I had the pozole since it's a weekend special , and it was great. I'll definitely be coming back.

We came late on Sunday. This restaurant is located in a very rundown strip mall. The place itself is small but it has very festive decorations. The attention was on point by Edelso, he was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. We ordered the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. Both were delicious. Fresh fish and seafood plus the tortilla is clearly homemade and was delicious. The seasoning was on point too. Overall it was a nice experience!

Best Birria Tacos & Chicken Mole I have ever in Miami hands down!!! The service was phenomenal quick and the atmosphere was personal and felt like I was in Mexico. The prices are a bit expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants but the quality is definitely there without a doubt. Delicious, friendly staff, and even complimentary chips and salsa. P.S- get the horchata it wasn't too sweet but very refreshing. Highly recommend to anyone!

Absolutely love this place. They recently renovated the restaurant and it looks great. The food is phonological! Consistently delicious and highly recommend. The staff is friendly and the drinks are great.

Mauricio was at the bar and we definitely missed being under his attention by not sitting there. Eliezer (the Venezuelan waiter from Mérida) took care of us in the dining room. Both are always very friendly and attentive. This time we decided to sit in the dining room because we were a group of three and had a lot to talk about. The place has 4 TVs and we were able to enjoy the France vs Spain match. We all ordered La Tropical Draft beer, a light, smooth, and very refreshing blonde. In total we had 16 beers . We shared nachos with grilled steak, which were very good (they pour the melted cheese right at the table). We also ordered tripa tacos well toasted (that's the technique) as we requested, and they came out excellent. Note: They have different promotions or offers depending on the day, not a regular happy hour variety, so it's good to be aware of that. The restaurant offers a good variety of 8 salsas: Sirloin, Chips, Guacamole, Verde, Vicente, Pastor, Chilanga, and Asada. Good atmosphere, pleasant service, and tasty food. We'll definitely keep coming back.

What an amazing meal…read more Dropped in for dinner and was so impressed. The roasted chicken is big enough to share. It's seasoned exceptionally well and comes with a side of tortillas. The enchiladas are also delicious. Again, a good size to share. We started off with some guac that was super solid. The space itself is really nice and has the perfect vibe for the Grove. Feels upscale while being super chill. Dress code is lax and it's about chilling and enjoying a great meal and maybe some adult beverages. So many things on the menu I want to try. Hope to be back next time I visit.

Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

The server was phenomenal, and the food tasted great, though portions run a little small for the price. One thing that caught me off guard: most of the table ordered tacos and enchiladas, but when the plates arrived, the "tacos" were essentially flautas and the "enchiladas" were more like tacos (the photo shown is the enchiladas). Naming aside, both dishes were delicious. We were also celebrating a birthday, and the staff sang for her and brought out a complimentary dessert--hands down the best brownie dessert I've ever had. The drinks were good, the food came out hot, and the ambiance was wonderful, with friendly, kind staff throughout. What did we order? Chorizo Queso: Not your traditional dipping queso, but FULL of flavor and the chorizo was great, decent portion. The table loved this. Comes with some warm fresh purple corn tortillas! 9/10 Guacamole: Nothing extraordinary, standard guac, I wish there was more guac and chips! The tortillas these come with are the same as the queso but fried and uncut. A little different but it was a nice change! 7/10 Chicken and Chorizo Enchiladas: Not your standard enchilada that you may be used to! Full of flavor though and everything was cooked very well! 8/10!
