We are so happy we came here , Beautiful decor my favorite was the decorated Mexican Theme Christmas tree so unique !!! Greeted by the host at the stand , very welcoming!! Very colorful and bright ... Little bar in the cut which looked full bar... loved the vibey music!! we were attended by Manuela and she was amazing .. Very attentive , knowledgeable about the menu.. for appetizers we had queso fundido con chorizo It had a long cheese pull( kids got a kick out of it, also my son suggested shrimp aguachiles with salsa verde.. so fresh unique with tostadas to serve your own .. ( included in it were slices of fresh avocado , red onions, and slice cucumbers, and the juice floating in it ( I wanted to drink it ) jjjj , octopus tacos my son and hubby had and they were delicious according to them, I had the chicken tortilla soup and WOW the best one I ever had ... fresh ingredients were on point ... also delish... for entrees my son had a alpastor Burrito he loved , my hubby had the barbacoa tacos he liked , temperature was not that hot but good enough to eat , and I had quesa birria which were very good also .. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Ordered the horchata, chile en nogada, and the cochinita pibil tacos. First off, I have to say the complimentary chips were some of the best I've had. It had this savory flavor that almost reminded me of cheese. Horchata ($4.50): refreshing and sweet. 4.5/5 Chile en nogada ($31.50): this was the first time I'd ever had it. Maria was our server and I'm glad she made sure we were okay that it was both savory and sweet. While it looked impressive (a giant stuffed pepper drenched in a sweet sauce and topped with pomegrante seeds), the sauce was too sweet for me personally so I probably wouldn't get it again. 4/5 Cochinita pibil tacos ($15.50): This was my favorite of the two. The pork was flavorful and juicy. Definitely would want to try their other tacos. 5/5 Overall I enjoyed the food and ambience. Maria our server was attentive and checked in on us. The environment was definitely on top of the theme with the staff's outfits, decor, and the great music. Parking readily available as it's located in a plaza. Restaurant is new - opened this Monday and they are still working some of their processes and details (i.e. menus are printed on regular office paper and other minor things). Inside is nice and appealing. Furniture is high-quality and seems custom-made directly imported from Mexico - hefty, solid wood tables with elegantly designed and finely upholstered chairs. In keeping with some of the more recent trends, there are lots of faux flowers and shrubbery hanging from the ceiling in very colorful tones, which create a more whimsical ambiance. The lady servers were wearing beautiful, very colorful Mexican-themed dresses with flower head dresses - a touch that expands the whimsy. The owner(s) were present as expected during a launch, and ensuring customers were tended to, which always provides a nice touch. One of whom I think is one of the owners, an elegant lady, noticed we immediately reacted to the cold temperature when entering and asked if A/C should be adjusted, and she did make it more calid - it was way too cold. While service was nice, and the two lady servers were appropriate, I'd like to add they could use a little softer and more 'welcoming' touch. They both acted a little 'hardened' as if they were 60 year old waiters that had been working the grind shift at Denny's in their past lives; yet they seemed to be somewhere in their mid to late 20's. Maybe it was the stress of figuring out a new restaurant. Onto the FOOD: My dining companion had an Elote and it looked very nice. I didn't try it, but he commented that the kernels were too small, so not sure it was an authentic Mexican corn cub. In either case, flavor seemed good to him and presentation was great. We ordered the nachos with the shredded beef only (barbacoa) and they were delicious - the beef and the cheese sauce were everything. The cheese is a little gelatinous, which some might not appreciate, but I do. My friend also ordered a mango mojito, which I tasted, and it was delicious; he found it a little sweet, but I'm all about the sweet, so I thought it was great. For our 'mains' we both ordered the same, Quesabirria's - they were great; however, in the spirit of being authentic to Mexican cuisine, they use cloves in their birria sauce, which is not a flavor I like (my BFF and I call ginger, nutmeg and clove 'christmasy' flavors - and are not fond of them if you can pick them out of the 'crowd' of other spices - that's my case in general if you can taste anyone spice above all others - it should be a symphony of flavors with no one spice outshining the other). Thus, I could only eat one of the two taco-styled pockets. I asked for mine without the onion and cilantro garnish. However, if you like those authentic flavors, you'd love these because they were well-made. We skipped dessert because we wanted to go visit Golfeados 900 nearby - I'll review that separately under that locale. Took pictures of the menu because there aren't any here yet. Catrina Querida has all the makings of a fun night out: colorful vibe, super-friendly service, and live mariachis, but somewhere between the kitchen and the giant speakers, things went wrong. The food: Elote? Good, but nothing to text your foodie friends about. Tacos al pastor? Meh, like they forgot the "pastor" and just sent the intern. Quesobirria had a nice dip factor, but the cheese came in like "I'm the star" and overpowered everything else. Flautas said "chicken or potato," plot twist, it's both, mostly potato, and not much flavor. Thank goodness for the cream sauce on top because without it, bland city. Rice was fine, beans were lacking flavor. The drinks: Started with a cocktail I did not like, bold of them to serve that, so I ran for safety with an Aperol Spritz. No risks, no returns. The atmosphere: Live mariachis? Talented. The speakers? Cranked so loud I could feel my ancestors covering their ears. Conversation? Forget it. You'll be yelling "another margarita" like you're at a nightclub. Bottom line: It has potential, but right now it's all noise and little flavor. I was visiting Miami for work and came across this Mexican restaurant while craving authentic Mexican food and a good margarita. Fabi was my server and provided excellent, friendly service with great recommendations for both drinks and entrées. I tried the passion fruit margarita and Paloma, both of which were great. The flautas were delicious and authentic. The food quality was there and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. First (and definitely last) time here. We were shoved in the back because the owner reserved all the front tables for his birthday party. Honestly, if you're going to take over the whole restaurant for yourself and your friends, just close it for the night instead of making paying customers feel like an afterthought. The food was just as disappointing. The guacamole with pork rinds was bland and the pork rinds were the same bagged kind you can grab at Publix. My flautas were mostly potato with barely any chicken. My friend's steak tacos were flavorless, and my mom's fish tacos tasted like they came straight out of the ocean, raw and not fresh. Drinks were nothing special. The only thing worth mentioning in a positive light were the churros -- and that's sad when dessert is the best part of the entire meal. Save yourself the time and money. There are too many other places that actually value their customers and serve fresh, quality food. read more

Had a lot of expectations for this place when I saw it Instagram. I was very disappointed after I went with my wife this past weekend. We had the guacamole and queso fundido (plain). Guac was good but queso fundido was sooo oily that my wife only had two bites and the chips themselves tasted a bit stale (queso fundido should also come with flour tortillas to make a taco, not chips. We had one basket of chips for the guac and another one for the queso). For main we got tacos. I got the pastor and my wife got grilled chicken. The pastor had 0 seasoning. Instead of the red/orange color they are associated with, it looked beige. No flavor. The pineapple was also canned, not fresh... Lastly, the tacos were wet. Water dripped from all of them when we picked them up. My wife's 3 tacos all broke due to how much liquid the tortilla absorbed. That being said, my parents went the day after and they loved the sopa de tortilla, pozole, and chile en nogada and had a great experience. IMO, if as a Mexican Restaurant you cant get a taco right, its not worth going back. read more
