If you've ever been to Los Tacos No. 1 in NYC - The Taco Stand very much resembles it. We got there just in time to snag the last available bar stools by the window. I appreciated the fact that our chips and guacamole were given right at the register so we had something to munch on while our tacos were being made. The guacamole was nice and creamy and not an onion in sight which I very much appreciated. All the tacos are made on corn tortillas which is my favorite but they tend to fall apart easily. Thankfully, plastic forks were available for grabs near the soda fountain. The reason for the lower rating is because the entire time we were there the only trash can in sight was overflowing. In all our visits to Wynwood, we had somehow never stopped by The Taco Stand until this weekend... and oh. my. gosh. It's probably my new favorite in the area! Very reasonably priced with a good amount of filling in the tacos. We also got the mar y tierra fries which was a super generous portion. One thing to note with the loaded fries is that they use a more american cheese-based queso, so if you're not a fan of nacho cheese, may not be for you. We LOVED the fact that there is a salsa bar with a ton of salsa options to customize your bites further. Not much seating inside and it does get crowded around peak mealtime. She even told me about a new aguas frescas drinks they had and recommended we try it. The good comes out rather quickly. Mind you it's made to order so there is a little wait. As we asked around the area we were hanging out, many recommended this place. And as we should, we followed those suggestions. The line wasn't too bad but when we got there it was a little wait. If you come late in the night, expect a bit of a wait in line (about 10mins this Thursday after 10pm) but it moves quickly. The enticing smell will keep you company. Lots of salsa options- a creamy chipotle, ciltrano. Salsa verde, a fire roasted ( tatameda) and habanero. The tacos- I got al pastor and pescado (grilled Mahi mahi) Size- slightly larger than food truck sized. Al pastor- good flavor but dry each bite. Pescado- I was surprised I enjoyed this a lot. Fish was tender and flaky, the cabbage added nice cool texture and the salsa chipotle was balanced. Maybe an off night for the Al pastor? This is my favorite taco spot and I haven't reviewed it even though I've been coming here for years. It is always a busy spot, especially at night on the weekends but it is worth the wait. Its got limited seating though. When it gets packed, there may be a wait to get your food. There is tons of colorful graffiti on the walls to keep you distracted while waiting for your food. I always order the Mar y Tierra fries/burrito depending on my mood. They cook the shrimp just right and the steak is delicious as well. After having this place in Cali, I was excited to hear about locations popping up around Miami. The line can get decently long depending on the day/time, but it does move quickly. I've tried the chicken, shrimp, battered fish and grilled fish tacos and all were good, I'd say the chicken and shrimp were the standouts for me. The burrito is equally as good. I came here for lunch with my coworker and we arrived exactly at 11, which I now know is the time to go - because it gets so crowded soon after! We shared the Mar y Tierra fries, which were amazing and reminded me of loaded nachos, but with those double-fried "fuzzy" fries (as I like to call them). OK honestly, this place is so good. I've gone before to a different location in Las Vegas and the food was very mid and disappointing. This time I got a California burrito with chicken and it was honestly so good. I didn't expect that. I also got the churros which came in a box with some sauce. Definitely would recommend the burrito and for the price too. It's really good and pretty big. I will say I was slightly disappointed. They didn't have Horchata. It's usually always very packed inside despite there being a bunch of seating and the line gets long, I got lucky this time because there was a really bad storm and I went there when the rain just let up so I was lucky enough not to have to wait in line. I visited this Wynwood location twice while in Miami and was really impressed with the tacos during my first visit and not so much the second time around. For my first trip, I ordered the Baja taco which was incredibly crisp and fresh as well as the sonora taco which had a unique flavor and texture with the addition of pinto beans. I enjoyed my first visit so much that I can a second time but was disappointed as the tortillas seemed a bit stale and cold. I went later in the evening compared to the first time which may have contributed to that but I wish the quality in tortillas was more consistent. They try to work as fast as they can and you can see the tortillas made in front of you. However, it's worth the wait. There's limited seating but there is both indoor and outdoor seating. There's also good turnover. I had the nopal taco and was surprised at how good it was. Just too much nopal (but won't complain on them giving extra food). The corn on cob was too cheesy but once the cheese was off it was good. The sauce variety was very nice and they definitely got spicy right! Quick service with tasty corn tortillas my favorite taco of the three I tried was the carne asada. The Al pastor was a bit oily for my liking but still flavorful with a good crisp.
