A dear colleague is leaving our place of employment after being there for 27 years, and a group of us took on the responsibility of finding an appropriate tribute that would honor her long and distinguished career. We came up with lots of ideas, and then one of us mentioned a stained glass window. Eureka! At that moment, we knew that a custom window would be the perfect way to make our colleague's indelible mark on our community beautifully visible to all. Enter Don Myers. He is literally the coolest and calmest artist with impeccable skill, and an eye for gorgeous colors. As the point person on this job, I communicated on and off with Don for over a month. His vision, kindness, and artistry is truly unmatched, and he counseled me through many questions, and even a sudden pattern change was handled with aplomb and courtesy. With that pattern change and his busy schedule, Don was still able to complete our window early! And boy, did he deliver. Our window is more beautiful than we imagined, and we are so pleased with it. While a custom window of this size is expensive, I absolutely believe that it is 100% worth it. You can trust Don with any of your stained glass needs. Stained glass art is a beautiful and intricate craft, and we had a wonderful experience with Don Myers' stained glass classes through a course we took through Mira Costa College. Over 3 Saturdays, the course offer a hands-on approach to this ancient art form, providing all the necessary materials and tools for us to create our own pieces. With the guidance of skilled instructors like Don and his assistant Mark, we learned patterns, glass cutting, grinding and soldering, and ended up with the creation of our own stained glass masterpieces! Don Myers is a master of his craft. I've lived in Oceanside for several years and have always passed his shop but since I don't own a home of my own I've never really had a "need" to check out his offerings. Fast forward to just a couple of months ago and feeling the itch to delve into a new hobby and always having had an interest in the technique of stained glass making, I enrolled in one of his classes through Mira Costa and spent 3 Saturdays learning the art of using a pattern, glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling and soldering as well as everything in between. Don's assistant, Mark, was equally as helpful in teaching the tips and tricks of the trade. I completed my first project (and a couple of small bonus projects with the extra time I had at the end of class) and felt such a sense of accomplishment and inspiration, I immediately came home and told my husband I wanted to sign up for the next class. I have watched and admired Don guide his students, including myself, through the various techniques he's mastered over who knows how long - this guy truly knows his stuff! I would highly recommend him for any custom pieces, repairs or even to take a class. I give kudos to Don for helping me hone my new skills for something I am now truly passionate about. What a nice gentlemen. I brought an old sentimental hummingbird stainglss piece into the shop and asked him if he could fix the hanger that had come off. It really is not worth anything but it was my Mom's and had a lot of sentimental value. He was so gracious and did such a nice job of fixing it. I am grateful for the work he did. read more

Don Myers knows his stuff. He's been teaching my daughter how to build stained glass mosaics. She has really found her Niche with this art. He was has been very patient with her and her friends all age 11 and taught them how to be meticulous and how to build beautifully complicated mosaics. So I came up to his store again one day and purchased some extra stained glass of all colors, some wood, and some glass cutters so she can continue on her own from where he taught her. DON'T bring this business any items to be repaired! I brought an antique stained glass lamp shade here to have one of the broken glass "flower petals" repaired. Don Myers, the owner, acted very confident that he would be able to fix it in about one week. I called in a week and he said there was a delay and asked me to call the following week. I did and he as asked me to call the following week again. After that he stopped taking my calls. I had to call from different phone numbers for him to answer as he started screening my phone number. After 3 months I went back to his store to speak with him in person. He wasn't there but an assitant told me that they don't do repairs like that and that they had sent it out to a third party to have fixed. I took back my lamp at that time to find out that one of the good "flower petals" is missing! I have left him two voicemails and sent an email to him regarding this and he will not take my calls.
