Stopped here for lunch with some coworkers while in town temporarily for work. The food was excellent, however we all noted that the service was slower than what we expected. It took 30 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering, which was inconvenient since we were trying to get back to work in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the chimichanga lunch special, which was delicious and the perfect portion for lunch. The chimichanga itself had a crispy exterior with moist and tender meat inside. The sides of rice and veggies complimented the dish well. Our server was friendly and was willing to split the check 5 ways, which we appreciated. The restaurant was decorated with some fun neon signs and interesting art and light fixtures. It definitely made for a pleasant environment. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality Mexican food in this area. Just be prepared to wait a bit in case the service is slow like it was for us. read more

Parking lot was full on a Saturday night about 6pm but we were seated right away. We got drinks chips and salsa quickly. Whatever they put in their salsa is addictive! It's easy to eat too much of them to ruin your appetite for the main course haha. It's nice friendly vibe and nice to see a local restaurant full of many customers. Servers were attentive and answered questions and gave recommendations. Fajitas are HUGE. Easily can be shared with 2 people. I got the combo with carnitas (pork), beef, chicken and shrimp. I'm glad I didn't order the 2 person version! And the price is amazing! For everything you get, the price is no more than any local diner blue plate special. I stopped in recently on a Saturday evening after a day of adventures at Spruce Knob. It was almost 9 pm when we walked in, but there wasn't many people here eating, maybe 8-10 inside and 3 outside. The place looked like it was ready to close even though closing wasn't until 10:30. It took about 5 minutes before someone came up to seat us. Smh! They were too busy cleaning it seemed. We asked to be seated outside and the ambience on the patio was great. Lights, a nice breeze and 3 people laughing and enjoying a monster margarita together. I'd been to Don Patrons several times before at their other locations, but never to this one. The waiter came shortly after we were seated and asked what we'd like to drink and I was pumped that they had Pacifico beer because the last time I had one I was in Malibu at Neptune's Net. So I ordered one and my gf ordered a margarita. We decided that we weren't super hungry so we just ordered the drinks, chips, white sauce, salsa, and the white cheese dip. Everything was good, per usual. Not long after bringing us the chips and such they asked if we wanted more drinks and a couple minutes later another guy came by and said they'd be closing soon. It was only 9:15. Then again another guy asked if we wanted anything else. Then a couple minutes later asked if we were done so they could bring us the bill. Wth!!! I hate feeling rushed. The only reason we came here was because it was open until 10:30 and we didn't want to be rushed but we were, so after 1 drink each and finishing our chips another guy came and took our bill and never brought back with the change even though I left a 25% tip at the table. Don Patron has pretty good food and it's one of the nicer Mexican restaurants in the area, but rushing people to eat and drink when you're open for another hour and fifteen minutes is unacceptable. They even shut the lights off outside and the main light. I love walking in the dark. Lol. Why because you wanted to leave early because you were slow? You lost my business because of this. It's Tuesday evening and the place is packed with locals. This must be the hook for Mexican food in Elkins. Short and sweet...the service, ambiance, cleanliness and cuisine are on point. The 'Premium Margarita' is worth the $18, although I gasped at the price initially. Places like this are hard to come by in the WVA mountains. The folks here actually care about what they do and their customers experience. My residence is 1 1/2 hours from Elkins, way out in the hills, but I will definitely be back to this remarkable hidden gem. read more

I was visiting Elkins during the 4th of July, we arrived late and this was the only restaurant open, I didn't like it from the outside, the place is old but they have invested in the decor, chandeliers, Mexican art and so on, unfortunately the silverware is so old that even after washing it looks dirty and bent, I refused to used them Yo be fair the steak tacos were a bit salty but good, so was the crazy pineapple a mix of chicken. Stopped to eat over Labor Day weekend. We are from out of town but my friend that came with me likes to stop here. We were seated quickly and ordered a couple of cheese dips, which they brought before they ever brought the chips. They did bring the chips after a few more minutes. They serve their chips with salsa and a white Mexican dip. My friends ordered the Toreko Chimichanga plus a soft taco off the a la carte menu, and I ordered the 2 Amigos Quesadilla. Our food was really good, but they didn't bring my friend's soft taco. He had to ask about it after we were almost finished eating. The server finally did bring it out. The food was really tasty. I have had good experiences at each of the Don Patron restaurants I have stopped at in WV. The food is tasty and portions are plenty. I confess that I most often get the Fajitas (often mixed). Meals also come with chips, salsa and special ranch flavored dip (we all love). Good service and many food options. The interior is nice and there are a lot of seating options including the bar area and outside patio. This place could easily become a great weekend party spot (with music and dancing). read more

This review is for the food only, despite the excellent service, the food is the only thing a review should be about. First my shrimp tacos, they did this right by using a 26-30 size shrimp, I hate the places where the shrimp is too large and often breaks the tortilla, or were so small you would usually get more lettuce and onion in some bites than in others, but here the perfect size came out, IMO. Additionally, the shrimp at this size were better cooked. Each piece had a char flavor. As for the rest of the tacos, the tortillas came out with lettuce, rice, pico, a smokey sauce option or a sour cream like one. All were tasty, but I settled on the smoker one with its bit of heat. Mmm yum! My wife had the fajitas, and this was the reason for the lower score. The steak and chicken, were sliced too thin think minced. All I got were chewy pieces with a salty flavoring. She was not very happy, but said they were fine and did not think they should be sent back. As for the chips and salsa, the chips were a bit too greasy, but the milder salsa was very pleasant, and my wife's hotter salsa, upon her request was spot on. If I could give it a rating it would be slightly closer to a 3.5 but not enough to round up. One note the bartender was very good at making drinks, even though they were not for us, they looked yummy! read more

If you're to eat at this place, you should get the things that are listed as a favorite. They are lacking in a traditional sense. They have a new modern feel that their food reflects. Their neon signs and decorations are aesthetically pleasing. I ordered the Camarón Yucatán. It was done very well, the vegetables on the side were roasted to perfection with a slight char. The shrimp were spectacular. This dish was made well in the traditional sense. However, our appetizer, the Mexican street corn, was not charred as it traditionally should be. And was lacking in flavor due to it being boiled instead of grilled. The quesabirria didn't have the correct meat on it, it is supposed to be made of chuck roast instead of roast beef. This brings a noticeable difference. The cheese inside was not Oaxaca, it was mozzarella. The broth that came with it for dipping was white person-ified (to lack depth and spice). Unfortunately, for the traditional Mexican eater, this is not the place for you. It is not their inability to cook traditional food, but rather it is the ignorance of the population in the area that they are able to get away with it. The front staff was relatively quick at getting us seated, as well as getting us our food (appetizer and entrée) and drinks. However, they took a while to get our checks, and I had to ask the cleaning lady to grab somebody to check us out as the checkout counter was empty and there were no waiters in sight for at least 15 minutes (this was around closing time). They also overcharged us for beer. It was listed as $3 on tap for the one we chose on the menu, and it was charged for $4. Definitely seems popular in the area for people who like Tex-Mex and Mexican junk food. read more

He brought me my beer and cheese dip ( no chips for the dip ) . I asked for extra napkins, which took a while. After ordering, my waiter came back with somebody else's fajitas. I told him that I had ordered a combination which he brought a few minutes later. And that was the last I ever saw of him. Pleasantly surprised after a few not-so-great dining experiences in WV. Don Patron had an inviting atmosphere and several large screen TVs for catching up sports. The menu has a large variety but my husband and I settled on splitting a platter of enchiladas. All were very good and included one chicken, one cheese, one beef and one bean. I never leave bad reviews. I at least have some good to say. But not about this place. Me, my mom and fiancé were traveling and stopped here while we were in Elkins. We arrived at 5:04pm. (I know because of a text I had sent) We weren't greeted at all when we came in. Ok, not a huge deal. They were somewhat busy but not packed. We waited about 2 min to be seated. We were there about ten min before we ordered food after being seated. Keep in mind, my mother wasn't hungry. My fiancé ordered one burrito, and I only wanted desert. So all that was ordered total was 1 burrito and a desert. We sat and waited until 6:03pm. No refill on drinks, no check in with us, no food, nothing! We sat there for 50 min! (taking off seating time and order time from the time we arrived) My mom finally got up to find someone to say something. All of a sudden the waiter brings out the burrito. NO DESERT! It took over 50 min for a single burrito and not even get my desert that I ordered! He literally slid the burrito plate down and left I had no chance to even say anything. My fiancé ate his whole burrito and I STILL NEVER GOT MY DESERT! I was OVER this place and wanted to leave. I got up and went to the hostess counter and said I wanted the check. It was OUR waiter that is now checking me out. I said where we were seated so he could find the check. He gave me the total. I said " is that with or without the desert because I never got it and we just waited and hour for a burrito" the waiter said to me "yeah that's without the desert you ordered" So he openly admitted that he never gave it to me. I made him print a receipt out before I would pay to make sure the total was correct before I paid. I handed him my card, he slid it threw, and without a word slid my card across the counter and left quickly. No apology for never getting my desert. No reason for why it took an hour for a single burrito. Not even a thank you! I understand places can get busy, or understaffed. But to not ever check on us one time for almost a total hour to even let us know it would be a little bit, over 50 min for a burrito, no desert, rude, and just plain unprofessional. I travel a lot for work and every time I'm out of town, I try go to local Mexican restaurant. I get the same thing every time I eat Mexican, doesn't matter the place. I get the fajitas with steak,chicken, and shrimp. It really is the best 'bang for your buck'. The portion size is huge. And you get another plate with rice, beans, lettuce, pico, guac and sour cream. It's too much food for one person to eat but I've tried it a time or two! I'm a big fan of the free chips and salsa the give you when you arrive (I think everyone loves the chips and salsa). My waiter asked if I wanted more chips and of course I said yes, and when he comes back to my table he brings me, not only chips, but guacamole and white queso. It was a real treat! I over indulged and ate more chips than I planned on and by the time my meal came out, I barely ate any of it. I saved it for dinner the next night and it did not disappoint. Not too much to look at from the outside, but the food is fantastic. The beef chimichanga was cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.

Bathroom was filthy with vomit on both stalls. Took my daughter for her birthday and she ended up in the ER with food poisoning. I only had a drink. Should have posted pictures. I will NEVER eat there again. When I called the restaurant they had a "don't care attitude." Way to treat a customer. Because it was Saturday, we got there early and all the waiters were just sitting around waiting for the people to come in. We ordered a cup of coffee to start off with the waiter I had to make a fresh pot of coffee which was good. We selected from the menu we placed our order and we finished our coffee until the waiter brought out our order. My wife's order was warm, mine which consisted of shrimp various vegetables and rice was ice cold. We couldn't get the attention of the waiter because he was sitting with the other waiters waiting for more customers to come in. When he finally saw us sitting there he came over with our bill and we need the money and the bill down on the table and he went back to chatting with his friends at the waiters station. Finally, I had to keep waving until he saw me, then he came over and I paid him. I have eaten and Don patron restaurants around the area and I will never eat in that one or any other one again.
