We ended up ordering 2 different make your own combo plates ( Chile, Cheese, Beef & Quesadilla ) & ( Enchilada, Beef, Quesadilla ) everything was outstanding & our server, Armando did an excellent job of taking care of us all at a very reasonable price of $63.03 for ( 2 Cocktails, 2 entrees & 2 sides ) Don Ramon is our favorite Mexican restaurant of all time & nobody else comes close. read more

I got the Fajitas Del Mar (5/5). For $19, this was an amazing value; it's hard to find even just shrimp fajitas for less than $20-$25 now. The mahi mahi was great and a generous portion, there was a good amount of shrimp and small scallops too, all cooked well! Everything else was also good! The service was great (4.5/5). I've been here twice with my family in the past six months, and this place is awesome! It's always pretty busy, all of the employees are super friendly, the atmosphere is lively, and the food always comes out so quickly. I've gotten enchiladas both times I've gone, but prepared different ways, and I was beyond satisfied both times. The kids portions are huge, the burritos are gigantic, and they've always got some sort of drink special going on. I love it here! read more

I really wanted to like this place because I read so many great reviews. The atmosphere was extremely loud and it was very hard to hear each other at our table of 3 in the center of the dining room. We sat for over 15 minutes before a server approached our table. She took our drink order and in another two minutes a different server came over and tried to take our order. Then we watched the two servers have a disagreement about who had our table. I wish one of them had committed, but the server who presumably won was almost never in sight the rest of the night. We all ordered margaritas and the make your own combo plate with varieties of enchiladas and tacos. At $15-$17 the quantity and quality of food was good. My friend and I both upgraded our dinners as "supreme" to get lettuce and sour cream for an extra $3, but both of them came without it and it was 10 minutes later before we could find our server to tell her. She then brought some lettuce and sour cream on a plate and never apologized or anything. The service was so poor and the atmosphere was so loud, I definitely will not make a drive to return here again. read more

100 stars! Definitely stop in for a visit. Great food. Fav is the Burria tacos. Died and went to heaven. Owner is super awesome and very involved. Servers are so kind and polite. I went there went they first opened at the smaller location and they moved into the bigger place. Large seating area, fun bar, nice booths. Prices are much better than Bravis and food is just as great. I don't have any pictures cause I always was too excited to eat !! read more

We were certainly excited to try this place as shakopee seems to be a mecca of amazing mexican restaurants. We were seated right away however the entire experience just feel flat. It wasn't bad, but it certainly was not a place that we see ourselves returning. The chips and salsa they provide are really not that great. The salsa was incredibly watery and lacked flavor. We each ordered a margarita, I got the classic and my husband got the strawberry. Mine was fine, his was so strong on strawberry syrup that it made it almost undrinkable. I ended up adding some of mine to his to get it to balance out. Tip: Skip the strawberry margarita I opted for Birria Platter and the birria lacked flavor and was dry and gritty, not worth it. My husband ordered the combo with enchilada and quesadilla. The quesadilla he did like but the enchilada fell flat. The entire experience was just meh at best and if you are looking for a mexican dinner, you would be better off going to a different spot. read more

Walked in to this restaurant for dinner and was greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was kind and courteous, checking in regularly about menu items and answered any questions. The environment was calm and welcoming even though it was pretty busy with customers. Went in to try some street tacos and added a Birria consommé. It was Cinco De Mayo and the three amigos were looking for a last second celebration spot after a grueling day of work. Don Ramon's had a 20 minute wait and it was well worth it! Our server was quick and had good recs, not to forget; he brought out chips and salsa for free. They also had live music which was a plus. The cucumber jalapeño margarita packed a punch and was delicious. The ceviche came with more shrimp and fresh avocado than we knew what to do with which was nice compared to most restaurants that give you chips with not enough shrimp. The quesadillas norteña was delicious, filled with peppers and sides of guacamole, lettuce, sour cream and pico. Overall I had a great cinco de mayo here and would go back in a heartbeat. read more

this we the worst Experience I have ever had with a restaurant. I placed a to go order and ate it. I spend the next 18 hours in the bathroom vomiting and with extreme diarrhe. I had not eaten anything out of the normal before it. The restaurant would not alllow me to speak with a manager. I just wanted to know if other cases were happening. I was worried I should go to the ER. Do not go to this resturant!!! You are taking your health into bad situations and their response was "they don't care". read more

I should have taken my clue from the name because the Street Tacos were the best thing about this order. I had the chicken tacos which were large and packed with veggies, including plentiful onions and cilantro. They came with salsa roja and salsa verde, both of which were tasty. The refried beans were pretty good, the chips crisp and plentiful, but the queso blanco was thin and bland. Quite disappointing. However, the worst part of the meal was the one I was most excited about, the shrimp ceviche. A true ceviche consists of raw seafood marinated in citrus, onions, and peppers. The citrus cooks the seafood rendering it flavorful and tender. This dish was cooked shrimp tossed in pico de gallo and was simply inedible. The shrimp was chewy and bland and not even a squeeze of lime could save it. What a shame. Order the street tacos and you won't be disappointed! read more

When I moved to Minnesota from Texas there were very few Mexican restaurants. Since Tex Mex was a staple of my diet I was deprived. Now there are many Mexican styled eateries in Twin Cities and in the upper Midwest. Some are good and many are mediocre. I would rate Don. Ramon as one of the better Tex Mex restaurants I have dined at recently. The ambience is sort of industrial and the noise level is pretty high. Chips were fresh salsa had a nice taste but could have used a little more heat but hey we are in MN. I love refried beans and rice. These were very good - often this isn't the case. The menu is extensive. I was with a large group and we ordered many different items and everyone seemed happy. Frankly the spices were a little weak and the food lacked flavors I associate with good Tex Mex but I grew up in Austin TX so probably my expectations for Comida Mexicano are unrealistic for the upper Midwest. Service was good. Our server Adolfo did an excellent job. All our orders arrived more or less simultaneously and they got everything right. This can be a challenge for large groups. I was absolutely disappointed with this place. I was excited to hear about a new Mexican restarant opening not too far away. Man, was I disappointed. First, I drove down and walked up to the door. There was a sign that said they were closed for the day for some maintanence. It was only posted on their door but not on their website. I decided to try this place again after that - first mistake. I ordered a mango margarita. What arrived was not a mango margarita. It was literally mango margarita mix minus the tequila. I sent it back and just got a basic lime margarita. I ordered a couple of tacos. They were bland and dry. I am so disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. But the food and drinks were just disappointing. read more

I like this place a lot. Their tacos are juicy and delicious. I love that they don't charge for sauces and have a sauce bar that you can pick your own from. They also include free chips with my order. This is also the only place that I know of that's has birria burritos. Definitely my go to for that. read more

This spot is located in a pretty open area of Shakopee, seems like an older part of Shakopee. The spot itself is easy to fine and there's plenty of parking. The inside is counter service, you go up there to order your food and then they bring it to you. The only downside is they don't offer any alcoholic drinks but they're plenty of options on their menu. The only reason for the four stars I thought their food was good but I wasn't amazed by it. It didn't taste that unique or anything special about it but it was still good and satisfying hit the spot. If you're looking for a cheaper meal with Birria and big portions, I would recommend this spot. read more
