This was definitely the best Mexican food i've had outside of California. The steak fajitas were so flavorful and delicious. I really loved the green sauce that came with it as well. I would have to call this place good - not great. The service was very fast, which was great for me swinging by for a quick lunch. The menu was a little limited - but they had chicken enchiladas so I was a happy man. As always, I asked to make it spicy. This resulted in the green sauce in lieu of the red sauce I guess. No jalapenos or other additions to crank up the heat. The chips and salsa weren't my favorite. The salsa's consistency was a little watery and the flavor had kind of a funny spicy, yet sweat combo. It wasn't what I would call your "traditional" red Mexican restaurant table salsa. Also, for any frequent flyer of Mexican restaurants wants to know - you have to pay for the chips and salsa, it is not complimentary! On to the enchilada... Well, it wasn't spicy at all to start with. So that was a little bit of a let down. With that being said - the flavor was great! The green sauce was very generously added to the enchiladas so that I could get plenty of flavor in every bite. I even mixed the rice in the leftover sauce and scooped it with my chips after abandoning the red salsa. I don't know of many Mexican restaurants in the area, so I can see how this is one of the better options in the Eden Prairie/Chan corner. BEST tasting food ever...Aurelia's uses the freshest ingredients and puts some sort of magic into their secret sauce that makes my mouth water and that's not because it's spicy (because it's not...just right for my sensitive senior tongue). Friendly fast service too. I can't say enough. I could say more but words are not enough to tell you how much I like this place. Besides I don't like to talk with my mouth full. It was a bit tough to get help on the menu items as it pertains to the special menu items listed at the restaurant. I went with my staple favorites so I got the 3 taco special choosing the fish, chorizo, and steak no beans and double rice. All were very tasty and especially the rice. Aurelia's is by far the most authentic Mexican restaurant in EP if you know what to ask for. I would say their strengths are dishes made with MASA, like machete or sopes. They are delicious and the machete would last you two meals, I usually go crazy on it and go on a food comma, wake up and finish it. The only little complaint was the cheese dip wasn't the queso blanco I was hoping for - so if you're a bougie Mexican cheese dip person or have your mind set on something - make sure to call and ask! (The dip I got was okay , not bad , but it was more like a cheese soup ... I was expecting that delicious stuff that turns hard if you don't chow down fast enough). Given the positive reviews on Yelp and by friends I was looking forward to Aurelia's takeout but unfortunately I was disappointed. I grew up in central Texas - the epicenter of TexMex - so I consider myself sort of an expert and Aurelia's just didn't meet my expectations. I don't think that TexMex is particularly adaptable to take out - unlike Chinese and Indian - so maybe something was lost in translation. Anyway, I had the chili relleno and my wife had chicken enchiladas. The chili relleno was okay but the enchiladas were dry and not particularly flavorful. The refried beans and rice included in both meals was above average. Level of spice was low which is typical for our part of the country. We also had an order of guacamole which was passable. I always ask myself if I have any desire to return to an establishment and in this case I don't. read more

We visited this restaurant over the weekend for dinner. They have good seating inside as well as on the patio, which makes it easy for families. You will have to order and pay for the food first and they bring it to your table. The service was very good. The person who helped us was very patient and kind. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and a cup of Tortillas Soup. Both of them were very good. We also ordered a Cheese Quesadilla for the kid which was good too. As others have stated there's nothing fancy about this place. It's squeezed between a Subway and a large restaurant/bar in a strip mall. There's a few small tables outside and the decor is highlighted by a large hat sitting on a table. Over time, however, I've learned such places can put out good food at reasonable prices and that's the case here. I learned from our server the restaurant has been in place for 10 years. Our lunch sized order of a Taco Salad and Chicken Fajitas arrived in 8 minutes and the portions were fine (see photo). The ingredients for the fajitas were fresh, hot and attractive but nothing was highly seasoned. Meanwhile, my dining partner commented that the taco shell was clearly not as greasy as is typical but the salad could have used a little more cheese...no biggie. I'd certainly visit the restaurant again if I were in the neighborhood. The staff was friendly, the ingredients fresh, the place was clean and prices were fair. read more

I was visiting my mama, but I discovered a second Mama named Aurelia. I walked into her joint at about 9:02 PM on a Thursday night - mind you, closing time (in the words of Semisonic) was 9 PM. Not only was the front door unlocked, but I was also warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant. Assuming I would be met with loud, unpleasant sighs, I was quite pleased with the friendly attitudes. The two Spanish-and-English-speaking men working said they would be there late anyway, so they were happy to cook up whatever I wanted. The young man at the register took the time to explain to me some of their specialties, and in the end, I opted for the fajitas, in a faint effort at being "healthy." They were phenomenal. A LOT of steak, great guac, perfectly fried red and green peppers and onions, tasty beans and rice. It was a massive meal, and I believe it only ran me about $10. I'm rockin' the suburbs. read more

The Food was so good i feel bad to leave this review but I'm in so much pain I feel like I need to. NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY. We ordered online and there was a place to put down allergies and I was like "great!" because it saves a phone call. I'm allergic to capsaicin which is in all varieties of peppers, so I ordered a chicken quesadilla with a note about my allergy with the request of if the chicken was spicy or involved spicy seasoning to just make a cheese one to be safe. Needless to say, while the chicken was mild it was spicy so I do not feel like my allergy was taken seriously. With only one bite I was sent to my allergy medication, luckily my throat didn't close, but my whole GI tract has been screaming in pain. I can say the one bite was exceptionally tasty, I'm just sad as I had to sleep for over 12 hours and I'm still feeling miserable. I know that with this sort of allergy it's hard to eat at Mexican restaurants, but I just moved and in my last town the local place was able to accommodate me. Very disappointed. read more

One of my favorite spots in the southwest metro for a quick yet delicious lunch. You can't go wrong when you order because everything on their menu is authentic, freshly cooked, and mouth-watering. That being said, my personal favorites are the carnitas nachos and any of the types of enchiladas. Not a super formal atmosphere but I think that adds to the allure of the location. Really friendly staff and a convenient location if you work in the Eden Prairie or Chanhassen area. Very affordable in terms of lunch options in the area as well!
