I LOVE Teresa's in Golden Valley, so when we were in the area with a large group looking for a dinner spot that could accommodate, I suggested we support Teresa's. They accommodated our 10-person group without any advance notice, and even with limited staff, served us efficiently and with friendliness. I love their margaritas, and got their 2-combo meal - my go-to. My husband always gets the choriburrito - his favorite! And of course some queso for the endless chips and salsa. I wanted good Mexican food and this was NOT that. The Taco salad with ground beef had maybe two tablespoons of meat at the very bottom, under the scraps of soggy lettuce. As I dug around I discovered some orangey paste that apparently was refried beans. The whole thing was bland and disappointing. The taco shell bowl was yummy but not so much as to elevate the dish. Queso was a surprisingly large portion of what tasted like melted Velveeta. It was very thick and had no spice at all. The chips were nice and crispy but really could not stand up to the thick queso and shattered when dipped. Overall not a good experience. read more

I was craving Mexican food and a margarita so we finally made our way to Theresa's! This is located in a strip mall and had quite a bit of parking still for an early Friday night. I believe from 2-6 they had the classic margarita on the rocks for 5 dollars and it is pretty big! Can't beat 5 dollars. I also believe the bottles of select beers are $3! Our waitress was helpful and fast and the service was nice! I wouldn't change anything about it. We ended up getting the complimentary chips and salsa (another basket & salsa is $4.50) and then we also got the cheese dip (medium is 5 dollars and is pretty small, but okay for 2!). The queso is what I was craving and it curbed the craving, it was good, nothing outstanding but definitely would get again, and the chips are fresh and crunchy. We also ended up splitting the tres Maria's enchiladas as it looked like it was going to be a lot of food, and it was! We ordered it with chicken and the chicken & all the sauces were good! Stopped in after a day on the lake. Some friends seemed to have been before and liked Teresa's so I was excited to try. Unfortunately, I think I ordered the wrong thing as I wasn't a fan of the quesadilla sampler. They used shredded chicken instead of grilled and the other meat wasn't very good either. We are both on keto and had just left a Mexican grocery/ deli and the aroma overwhelming leading us here to eat. The Fajitas for two with pork, shrimp, chicken and chorizo, peppers and onions cooked to perfection, steaming hot, along with lettuce wraps, guacamole, sour creme, tomato, shredded lettuce and Romaine wraps outstanding! We passed on the beans and rice with just tasting as we are not eating carbs. Excellent Margarita and Mohito for a treat. Because I have to give a star for this to be posted, I begrudgingly give it one star. To be insulted before we are seated is unacceptable. I am a disabled person who is assisted by a service dog to aid in my mobility. The gentleman who approached us at the hostess desk offered as he looked at my service dog, "I can sit you outside." No choice was given to sit inside. Feeling insulted, my party and I left. We will frequent those establishments that treat us respectfully. What can I say we love Teresa's! Not being originally from Minnesota we were on the look out for a good Mexican restaurant and we found it! We can always expect to have good service, huge food portions, and fast seating. We enjoy sitting on the patio when the weather is good but the inside is very large and can accommodate different size parties. The California Burrito is very good and is typically what I order and will have enough left over to take home for lunch the following day. Also when you sit down they give you chips and salsa which always a plus! I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We've come in about a dozen times & the food is consistent. The rice is hands down the best in the metro, but everything else is pretty average. With the exception of one bartender, the service is awful despite there rarely being more customers than employees in the place. If you don't order everything you want right away (drinks and entrees), you're going to wait at least 45 minutes before they'll come back around or they'll act annoyed you asked even if you're the only ones in the restaurant or bar. Once your food does come, you're likely not going to see the staff again so make sure you have everything you need. The prices are good & there's daily deals, but I'd come in with your expectations set accordingly. read more

I was looking forward to this visit. My experience wasn't pleasant. My waitress wasn't great. Not sure if she was busy and too many tables to serve but I had to make sure to ask for everything when we saw her because it wasn't a guarantee we'd see her again. We asked another waiter for assistance and was met with attitude and a feeling like we were out of place when we just wanted to have what we needed to enjoy our meal. Worst service ever! Got there at 4:30p on a Saturday Nov 9th. Waiting for an hour to get food, were being convinced to eat what we didn't order but said no! We asked for free drinks while our real order was SUPPOSED to be made but was rejected for a free drink. Three people tried to ask what they could do, but no one fulfilled the mission. 'Just give us a free drink, we will wait!' And didn't even get that. At 5:30p, we left. No food except chips and one drink each. And water. No apologies, no nothing. Worse service ever!! Usually a good place to eat, but went there last sunday and the staff seemed a little off, they were not that busy and it took a while for someone to seat us. Got done eating and both of us did not feel right, thought maybe the salsa was too hot? But it was likely the enchiladas we had. We barely made it home, extreme gut issues, and i have had them ever since, just when it seemed to get better, it then comes back. Too bad, hopefully we get better soon. But I don't think I'll go back, very nervous about that. Was thinking cook ware was not rinsed properly? The fajitas... this is the second time I've ordered them & they weren't put in the hot iron skillet to finish the dish off. I ask you, what is the charm of a fajita? I ordered the burrito fajita and my wife ordered the Alahambre whatever that was. Brought out my burrito and my wife's alahambre. I told her it looked like she got a very small meal. She was poking around and said she thought there should be chicken under here somewhere. She was about to ask when the waitress came up carrying her 2nd plate.... full of chicken. So wow. Lotsa food. Both meals were amazing. The waitress didn't come around our table much. I asked myself why. It's because she did everything perfect the first time. She brought out a 2nd water before I could ask. This was my very first time trying Teresa's. All my friends rant and rave about how delicious the food is so you know I had to give it a try. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking out front. Greeted by a young gentleman who had broken English but I didn't have a problem understanding him. He was very kind. He even told me some customer favorites without me even having to ask. I loved that! Immediately we get chips and salsa. Delicious. I ordered myself a Carne Asada A La Mexicana. Its basically a steak, refried beans, rice, and grilled onions, SO BOMB. I have also tried their pick 2 or three. The portions are HUGE. They also have a great happy hour on the drinks...the have Hennessy! haha. The staff was very nice, the food and drinks were delicious! We had a terrible experience with Maria as our server. When she took our order, she was more concerned about what was happening out side than giving us any attention. Once the food arrived, the server never came back to check on us. We had to ask other waitresses for a correction to our food as they brought the wrong item. When she came to clear our plates she gruffly asked "are you done," not how was your dinner or would you like any desert. After she took our plates we waited 20 minutes to get our bill. My boyfriend ordered two of the happy hour margaritas which were mediums for 5 bucks and when our bill came they were down as 8.00 and when we asked why they weren't on special like she told us they were, she told us she didn't get the drink special in before 6 so we didn't get the deal. And she never ONCE mentioned to us that the happy hour was over and we couldn't get the $5.00 margarita. I had an enjoyable dinner here the other night with some friends that live nearby. Given Teresa's suburban strip mall setting and huge menu (often difficult to execute well) my expectations were modest. I was pleasantly surprised. Starting with the chips and salsa, yes, the salsa is very mild. However, each person receives a small bowl into which one may pour an individual serving and then augment from two different hot sauces giving everybody a chance to reach an agreeable level of heat to taste. The chips were crunchy, non-greasy and tasted fresh. More salsa and chips were brought readily upon request. I ordered the Moctezuma Molcajete. It arrives in an enormous bowl that weighs a half-ton (seriously, it's heavy!) overflowing with slices of nicely seasoned chicken, beef, pork, several shrimp, chunks of chorizo, peppers, mushrooms, onions and cactus all swimming in a broth and topped with cheese. Frankly, it's almost comically over-sized and somewhat unwieldly. Is it even remotely "authentic" south of the border cuisine? Who cares? It's festive, flavorful and satisfying comfort food. Perfect fare for yet another of our endless series of sub-zero evenings. At first I wasn't sure how to go about eating it. I finally decided to treat it like fajitas, heaping stuff into folded over flour (or corn) tortillas (served with the dish) together with rice, beans, lettuce and guacamole. I would definitely order this again. I also had mucho leftovers to take home. My friends had the Carne Asada Burrito and the Chicken Fajitas respectively. They pronounced their dishes to be very tasty and more than adequate in size. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food prepared. In my estimation Teresa's is a cut above big chain restaurants like Don Pablo's. All-in-all just a solid, unpretentious TexMex establishment. read more

I actually gave this place two chances before writing this review, because I wanted to have a wonderful Mexican restaurant near me. I'm glad I went a second time, because that will be the last. For starters, the place was dim and not that clean. It has to be really dirty to notice it in such a dim setting. The staff was charming and polite, so no complaints there. The food was the biggest issue. I had tamales (a favorite dish of mine). I felt like I was eating and paying for leftovers. Holy microwaved food. My companion's enchiladas were not much better. Soggy. Stale chips. Salsa that more closely resembled marinara. Just odd. I hate to say it, but go to Chipotle instead. Your money will get you more. read more

I think this place is a great option if you live out in Prior Lake/Savage area of Minnesota. I think there food is enough of an Authentic flavor but also gives me the ability to eat it if my body can't handle hardcore heat. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to help in any way possible. I thought the best part if the prices.
