We love Bravis! Their new location is such an upgrade from their previous spot downtown Shakopee. Much more seating - booths, tables, picnic table style seats, bar seating. Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. Bravis has a really cool atmosphere with tall ceilings, lots of natural light, and a clean, modern design accented with bright colors. I tried the birria tacos, and they were excellent. The shells had a great crunch, the beef was tender and packed with flavor, and the rich consommé tied everything together. The hot salsa that came with it was a standout too, it had just the right amount of heat and added another layer of flavor. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

Great experience today for lunch on Valentine's Day with my husband. We happened to be in the area and searched yelp and Bravi's showed up so we stopped and tried it. We were welcomed and decided to sit at the bar and the bartender seemed happy that we chose to sit there and that we weren't just waiting to be seated at a table. Good start. I ordered a raspberry margarita and it was so good. The bartender kept our water glasses filled without asking. Super + in my book. Be prepared-with all the development over here, parking on a Friday was definitely tougher but still possible to find something with a bit of driving around. Oh there is a reason this place is highly rated! Start my parking(free) and head inside. There is a brewery next door if that is more your vibe or come on over to this place! The decor was super cute, open, clean and modern! This is not an overly large establishment, so reservations would be a great idea! There are plenty of TV's to catch a game! The pizzadilla is HUGE and so delicious, I highly reccomend getting that if you're in a big group! The shrimp and alpastor tacos were both so great, I love that the shrimp is cut up and the flavors tastes amazing. I did love the alpastor too and will need to get that one again! Not pictured but we also got some queso and ceviche which I did not really care for either. The queso didn't have much flavor and the ceviche was overpowered with spice. The food ordering went very quickly and the food was super hot and fresh. Planned on dining next door at the bbq joint but I ended up looking up the menu for Bravis & seen that they have HH all day Sunday's, so decided to eat here instead. It was busy, which is a good sign that people must like the food. It's somewhat a smaller restaurant but super cute. We ended up ordering mostly from the HH menu but a lot of the food on the main menu sounded great, especially the pineapple bowl! We got chicken taquitos, salsa flight & dry rub wings, the taquitos were basic but good enough. The wings were good though, served hot & crispy. I got a black cherry margarita which was good. We also got the tres leches bread pudding. It was more so bread pudding w/ a scoop of ice cream. It was really good though. Our server was really nice and did a great job serving us. When running to the bathroom I seen that they had a window connected to the brewery, so you could over food to there. It's also connected via an hallway. The hostess Summer was awesome not only did she go above a beyond to make me feel welcomed but after waiting a short 15 minutes she found me a seat at the bar that just opened. Try the salsa flight, and add guac.... Served with freshly fried chips. So good! The spiciest of the three is creamy - unusual, but delicious! The mild sauce is packed with cilantro flavor. The ceviche was also very fresh, and served with warm tostadas. My husband and I both had a mango margarita -- delicious. I also tried the tamarind, which had a smoky brow sugar flavor - try it! Another amazing dining experience at Bravis! My husband and our toddler arrived on a Thursday night around 5:30 and were able to get a table right away. We had amazing service by our server and never felt neglected! Our second basket of chips arrived before we finished our first, which was much appreciated! The Enchiladas de Mole is one of my fave dishes they offer. It's the perfect blend of richness, sweetness, and smokiness. I asked for an extra side of the crema to help cut the spiciness of the mole sauce. There is so much shredded chicken inside, it's a filling dish for sure! The Spanish rice comes on the side, so you can keep it separate without the mole sauce if you wish. I personally like to have it all together in one bite!! I ordered the Flan Brûlée to go and dove in as soon as I got home!! The raspberry compote they serve on the side compliments the flan and crunchy sugar crystals so well. We decided to head south and try this Mexican place in Shakopee near the horsies, and the only thing on my mind was Torta! Torta! Torta! Like John Belushi in Animal House. We sat down, I ordered a Traitor IPA from next door at Badger Hill and said "One torta please!" ..... Subtle pause. "We don't have tortas, we didn't get our bread yet." Dejected, I ordered the chicken fajita tacos and the pork tacos. I also ordered the extra hot sauce. Our server was very nice and we got our food fairly quickly, from this spacious cantina and I liked the chicken fajita tacos a little better than the pork ones, but be warned, the extra hot sauce is so hot, it isn't flavorful, I dipped it into the medium to mix and it melds perfectly. The chicken was just perfectly cooked and juicy. The pork tacos were a tad dry? All of the dishes came out perfectly plated and pretty. The beers help wash down the experience and it is overall, a good and reasonable Mexican place. I would have given it five stars, but alas...No torta. read more

Decided to take a trip out to Shakopee to try out a new restaurant and I'm still surprised at how amazing Bravis was. Went on a Friday around 6:30pm and had to wait about 25 mins to be seated. Once seated our service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server was so lovely and helpful for all of our ordering and did not make one bad recommendation. Started with the chips and salsa flight, which was fresh and appetizing. We decided on a few different tacos: al pastor (YOU MUST ORDER THIS), carne asada, and the loaded taco. I'd like to consider myself a taco connoisseur and these were some of the best tacos I've had. They are not skimpy on the portions and they seasoned the meat to perfection. We couldn't leave without dessert and settled on the tres leches bread pudding. My two favorite desserts combined for the most heavenly finish to a meal you'll ever have. I've dreamt of this dinner since I went. I can't wait to go back! They have a huge parking lot with lots of space and the ambiance is absolutely gorgeous. Walked in on Tuesday just after 4 o'clock. Had made reservations, but didn't need to as there looked to be plenty of table space. I did like the set up of the tables as there was plenty of room to feel comfortable. The music wasn't too loud. It was easy to overhear conversations. I was sat when I walked in at a table per my request. Little did I know it was happy hour. Lucky me. So I ordered an empanada and found out there were actually three so I decided to have two beef and one cheese. The plating was very well done. If I wasn't hungry, I definitely was at first glance. I didn't know the trick to finding out, which was which, but luckily, I had one beef and one cheese and saved one for later. The salsa that came with them was the perfect selection. I also ordered a torta because that's one of my favorite things to order when I go Mexican. I selected Al Pastor as my meat and requested no onion. Again, they served the perfect salsa to accompany the dish. I'll definitely be ordering it again. Each of the staff members I encountered was very friendly and responsive. They were just getting ready to light the candles on the tables and so the gentleman doing the lighting asked me if I would like mine lit. To me, it was a nice touch they ask if I would mind. I asked for a pineapple water to take with me. It was so nice and refreshing. I think I saw it mentioned for some of their other cocktails that they have so those will probably be the ones I start with in the future. My workplace had Bravi's cater an event a few months ago. The food they served then was delicious and so I wanted to come check it out for myself with some other other dishes. I would definitely recommend. Our server was courteous and gave great advice on drinks. It's very modern industrial ranch style. They were very busy and not a lot of sitting room so we had to wait for a table to open. Tried the Chicken Tacos which are loaded with chunks of tender, flavorful, nicely spicy fajita chicken meat and a grilled onion/pepper mix with avocado salsa/dressing in a soft flour tortilla - piled high. Two tacos for $10. I'll definitely come back to try some entrees. The building is new and has a nice clean and fresh interior with an open kitchen. Plenty of seating both indoors and out with a good selection of tables, booths and high-tops. Bravis linked to Badger Hill Brewery next door, so extremely local beers are on the menu as well as a good selection of wines and cocktails. Service was friendly, fast and attentive. We came in with high hopes given the good reviews however our experience was terrible. The food was awful. I got a quesadilla with onions, and to start the cheese was not even melted and it was shoved to the brim with onions that aren't even cooked. My boyfriend got the birria tacos and he did not like those. He has had many birria tacos and said these were the worst he's ever had. To finish it all off we got the salsa flight with the cheese sauce, the cheese sauce literally tasted like cheese wizz... very bad food and not great service either.
