    Annie Ray - Wedding 2010

    Annie Ray

Annie Ray can make anybody look cool…read more Her "photobooth" photography style is edgy and fun, in no small part because of her incredibly likeable personality and the way she eggs on her subjects like some kind of totally cliche French photographer ("Give me more! Give me more!"). Yet her subjects catch her enthusiasm and channel their inner goofball/badass/child/whatever, striking ridiculous poses, making faces they would never otherwise make in public, even taping gross, who-knows-where-this-has-been fake moustaches under their noses to help them get into character. Yet somehow, magically, everyone looks hip and cool and funky and lively in the end product. Or maybe everyone looks totally dorky and ridiculous, but it doesn't matter, because all your friends look that way in their shots, too. Annie Ray is some kind of photographic genius. Everybody wants some of what she's got. Fortunately, she's happy to share. P.S. The photo posted above is NOT one of Annie Ray's shots. It's a shot I took of Annie Ray while obnoxiously exclaiming, "Give me more!" --- EDIT, January 2012: The photo I posted with this listing was removed by Yelp because it allegedly violated the Content Guidelines. When I inquired as to how it violated the Content Guidelines, I was told that I was supposed to "avoid uploading close-ups of other people." Uh...every single photo for this listing includes a close-up of other people. Yelp, if you're going to remove my content from your site - which, by the way, I have donated to you for free and you have made money from - it might be nice if you gave me the honor of providing me with a reasonable explanation for why it was removed. Just a suggestion.

Attention closet models! Annie Ray is your photog!…read more Some people may ask "Why do all these folks feel the need to act a fool in front of cameras?? I don't get that behavior." Well, partially it's to have a physical memory of the event and the friends we love. But mostly it's cause an Annie Ray photo shoot is like a ride at Six Flags. It's a "weeeeeee" kinda fun where you can be as adventurous and loud and silly as you dare. When the ride is over, most folks get right back in line again. And just like a rollercoaster ride, you can end up with a crazy pic of your adventure. But Annie Ray specifically as a photographer is a joy. She's ebullient, effervescent, energetic, and encouraging which is great when you are working with stoic camera shy boys like my hubby and bff. And she makes ME look good even tho I normally take horrible pictures. I can never get my face to act right (in fact, no telling how many of the 20 or so that she takes she pitches to only post a few on her site....). And she remembers people. Having worked many a Yelp party and working with countless faces, I am amazed that she remembers my name and when she met hubby last event, she was so excited and demanded we take more pictures of just us, encouraging him "Randy love Keri! Loooove her!"...which of course hubby took to mean "Stick your tongue in her ear!!". I always look forward to an Annie Ray photobooth. She is an Annie Ray of Sunshine!

If I could give Georges 10 stars, I would!…read more Georges, I can not thank you enough for taking the Fall Collection photos for my boutique. From start to finish, the level of professionalism was unmatched. Your fun personality and creative mind helped capture amazing photos. Plus I loved how quickly I got the link to my photos, and was thrilled on the quality of the images, I could see every detail on the fabrics. Highly recommend, thank you again. I can't say enough great things about Georges! I was connected with him through one of my best…read morefriends several years ago to get updated head shots for my business. My friend is one of Georges best friends as well and she's been getting her head shots and personal photos done by Georges for a very long time. I was super nervous when I first started to take pics with Georges, especially since my friend and him had so much chemistry, were having all this fun and her pictures were rocking and rolling and looking amazing and beautiful. Georges was so cool, he helped me chill out and gave me great tips that would really make the photos come out the best they possibly could. It ended up being a really fun day and, of course, my pics came out great! I get an insane amount of compliments and rave reviews of my head shot and I feel like the only reason the picture looks so great is because of Georges. Legitimately, it's just an awesome photo and job done by him. I've had 2 or 3 different sets of head shots done by him, they're all incredible and I will never have anyone else do my pictures, ever again. We then hired Georges for our office grand opening to take photos of the event and also have a photo booth section, which he managed both tasks, beautifully. The event photos came out AAAAAAMAZING!! He did SUCH a great job capturing a pretty cool night for us! I think Georges is the best photographer in Austin and probably even the world! I seriously love him and the work he does!!!!!

I just finished taking all 4 courses that ASOP offers. I had pursued quite a bit of photography…read moreeducation before I started these classes, so I was already frustrated with how challenging it was to fill my gaps in knowledge. From the very first Photo 1 class, Andrew positioned the material in ways I'd never heard or read before. All of the curriculum has been shaped to gradually level up a student's potential. By the 24th class, I was bursting with excitement about what I now knew how to do. I can now go out and talk with long-time professional photographers and contribute to the conversation. I've been encouraging Andrew to start publishing articles and a book. Until then, photography enthusiasts in Austin are super fortunate that ASOP is available for all of us.

I just love Andrew! Be prepared, he cannot sit still at all and walks around all class. So, if…read moreyou're looking for a person to sit down right in front of you and just talk about a camera, that's not his style. He is hands on! "Everyone get your cameras out." "Ok, what kind do you rock?" "What kind of photos do you currently enjoy taking?" "What kind of photos do you hope to take one day?" "Let's discuss this." "Now what are we shooting for?" "Is it time? Is it it Light? How much distance is involved?" At first everything is very stright forward, learning the mechanics of the computer in your hands. Because, let's face it, it's a computer. Unless you're that one person in class rocking an old school film camera, which is amazing - please be that person and make the rest of us jelly. He gives homework, well thought out and explained. He sends follow up emails after every class explaining the homework assignements again. And he loves for people to print out their photos so we can all discuss our photos and learn form one another. Also, he seems to know every camera so very well. He can figure out opperating systems super fast. I've had my camera for over a year and still get frustrated trying to find somthing. Hence the reson I stick as much stuff on my Favorites tab as possible. Not Andrew though, he can find anything on anyone's camera in under 30 seconds it seems. Trust me, once you see how many cameras he must work with each and every day, this is impressive. I've only taken level one class, but already paid for level two. Before too long I plan on taking all of his classes. He really challenges me to get outside of my comfort zone, understand my equipment better, and really wants me to succeed. If it weren't for Andrew's classes I would be stuck taking only classes at ACC that do not fit into my schedule. I'm so glad Andrew started this School. Go and take just one class - you won't be disappointed.
