I needed more substantial clear covers and solid backs for presentations and Donahue had the materials in stock and a huge selection. They were a lifesaver for me. Wow! How amazingly rude! I have shopped here before and, while not overly solicitous, they were at least friendly. Today was a very different experience. There was absolutely no one visible in the store but the music was on, the door was unlocked, and I thought there might be someone in the office. I went to the far NW corner, not far from the office, where the single, colored envelopes can be found. My client had a very specific need so I found the color and had just opened the calculator to figure out if the retail pricing was going to make sense when I got a phone call from a friend. Because I was working on the calculator (and there was no one around) I put the call on speaker so that I could finish. It took about a minute and a half, no more than normal speaking volume. Surprise! A man came out of the office. From 20 feet away, this man, who had not bothered to greet me in any way said, "Ma'am, you need to take your call off a speaker!" I am very careful about the use of phones in public spaces and I had just finished with the calculator so I immediately switched it off. But then I thought, "Here we are on the middle of a pandemic. I know that I am fighting to keep my business going and to make sure that my customers feel appreciated. What a huge contrast to this ass who, although he had an empty store and parking lot, could not find a way to greet a client or to at least find a kinder way to chasten one. I don't know about you but I have no problem leaving a store that does not know how to deal with customers. Turns out, there is a lovely paper store 4.3 miles due west called the Paper Source. They are lovely, friendly and appreciate the business. Donahue Paper Emporium has seen the last of my business. read more

First off, this is like paper heaven. This was recommended to be by a coworker for door hanger paper and I thought there'd only be one or two selections, but I was wrong. There were quite a few selections and I loved that they had a different variety of styles. I went on a random weekday and I think the cashier was the only one around to assist with customers also. She was so friendly and helpful and took me right to the section where the door hangers were. I also do origami and the colors they had were wonderful! They also had a selection of kind of wrapping paper material, and they were absolutely gorgeous patterns. There is a small section to the side for wedding invitation designing, I hope I will be able to browse that section soon! I will be back for any of my paper needs. read more

I echo the sentiments of the last reviewer . . . DO NOT shop here! I live and work in the area and was super excited to visit this local store with my fiance to pick out some envelopes and card stock for our Save the Dates and Thank You notes. Upon my first visit to the store, I was pretty impressed by the size and selection. I, however, was NOT impressed by the salesperson (who I think is the owner, but not sure). We picked the procuts we liked and asked if they would perform well with laser jet printing. He said yes, it was guaranteed. Wonderful! So, we went home and tried printing on the procuts. NOT wonderful. The ink started chipping and looked awful. I figured, hey they are a local business, I'm sure they will be happy to exchange the product and will probably give me some good advice on what to get instead! I went back to the store and the above couldn't have been further from the truth. From a lack of a greeting when I walked in the store (same salesguy as the first time), to the inability to even have a conversation with me to discuss what I was looking for (I had to pull teeth just to get any sort of acknowledgement on what I was picking in exchange would work better), to a really rude exchange at the register (he didn't walk through the exchange transaction at all and I had to ask what he was doing when he asked for a card) it was just all in all a terrible, terrible experience. I left feeling like I should have paid THEM for being allowed the honor to walk in their store thanks to the smug and condescending nature in which I was treated. I really hate giving bad reviews, but nothing upsets me more than a blatantly awful customer service experience. I've worked many years in customer service and I understand what it's like to have a bad day or have your hands tied due to corporate return policies, so I am pretty forgiving in these situtions. But, I also know it doesn't take a whole lot to keep a customer happy, even if it's a smile or a simple apology. Neither of which you'll get at this place. So, Donahue definitely lost us as customers and we'll be taking all our other upcoming printing needs (and we have a lot we need done for our upcoming wedding) elsewhere. After waiting 4 weeks to have some invitations letter pressed with another company, I called Donahue Paper Emporium looking for supplies to print and assemble them myself. I spoke with Sophie on the phone and she was VERY helpful and very creative with giving me some ideas and suggestions as to how I could get them done in a short time. I never felt like she was in a rush to get off the phone. Working close by, I stopped in on my lunch break the following afternoon with my art files and she showed me around the store and made some paper and envelope suggestions. The store is much larger than it looks from the outside and the selection of papers is of professional grade: Neenah, French, Crane & Co. Not only do they sell paper, but also supplies for packaging, stationery kits, novelty favors, etc. I opted to use their in-house printing service and also chose to have my envelopes lined and addressed for that finishing touch. Sophie did a tremendous job in expediting my order and had everything ready for me in 24 hours. I understand that normal orders require 5-day turnaround. I really appreciate that she kept me informed with progress and sent me proofs of everything along the way. The invitations look GREAT!! Thanks again for your friendly service and product knowledge. It would have taken almost 2 weeks to get them from minted so I went and meet with the people at DPE. They took the design and lettering I wanted and created a beautiful invitation. Let me start off by saying, if this review was solely based on my interaction with the owner, Bill, the rating would NOT have been so high. The paper product selection was EXCELLENT. Sophie helped me and she too was EXCELLENT! She was friendly, knowledgable and super creative. She really knows her stuff from the best types of paper, to the layout of the store to mix and match various items, to methods of assembling to achieve the best effects. SOPHIE WAS GREAT!!! Bill, the owner, wasn't quite so polite and honestly, if I hadn't had such a wonderful experience with Sophie, I would have left after I witnessed him trying to tickle her. (She had previously shared with me that she is happily married and lit up talking about her husband). Donahue Paper is so great! My fiancé and I just completed the process of DIYing our wedding invitations and we couldn't have made the high quality product we were able to without the help of Donahue. Their staff were friendly and helpful, they put in custom orders for us, they let us rent their industrial size corner rounder, they had these wax sticks to make a monogram seal using a hot glue gun... They had everything I wanted and more. Donahue is out of the way for me as I live in Park Hill, but well worth the trip for the best paper products and accessories in the Denver area. Check out their Marsupial product line. Minus one star because they're closed Sundays, which seems to be the only day I ever want to go, but overall a great experience. First I would like to say WOW! This store is amazing and has everything paper related plus more. Walk in their store and it will surprise you on how much they have even beyond paper. I find that when I go in there I get side tracked looking at all the cool and unique things they have. I went in for some paper and ended up buying my employees Christmas gifts. I warn you there is no way you can go in just to grab something quick, plan on being there for a little bit because there is so much to look at. I always get caught looking at the candy rack too with all the old candy I grew up on that you can't find anywhere else and of course my kids love that too. In addition to all the great products they have the staff are fantastic. The staff are extremely helpful and have knowledge about paper I never knew was possible. Every time I go in there the they are friendly and help me with whatever I need, from finding what I came in for, showing me options or helping me with creative ideas. How RUDELY I was treated today! I will NOT be back to Donahue, and I've been a customer for YEARS. Well, no more. I was on the phone while shopping there and also when ready to check out. The reason is bc my elderly mom was having some issues and I was trying to assess her situation quickly so I could figure out if I needed to head down to help her. There was only one other customer in the store, who was busy looking for her items. The clerk was at the front desk, as was I, with my items and ready to check out. It was clear the clerk was ignoring me. She finally turned to me and said, "We only help people when they're off their phones." REALLY? She had NO idea why I was on my phone. I wasn't being loud at all and fully able to pay her. I did NOT get off the phone, given the reason I was on. Well, Paper Source, here I come! Boo! This place was highly recommended to me for having "any paper you could possibly want." I needed a large sheet of paper and called before I went just to be sure. The only measurement I had was in centimeters. As I was trying to tell the gentleman who answered the phone the dimensions, he interrupted me and rudely said "Ma'am, here in America we measure our paper in inches." I was shopping in Donahue Paper this afternoon. I was shopping for some envelopes and speaking on my cell phone to a colleague about the envelope selection. The store manager came up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder and told me to get off my cell phone while I was in his store. This was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I am not surprised the store had no other shoppers in it as I expect this is how all their customers are treated. This is unfortunate as you have a great paper selection. Still bothered by the 'incident,' I called the owner, Bill. Within seconds it became clear the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I now understand why rudeness is acceptable at this establishment. Bill was defensive and even reprimanded me by saying I didn't need to tell him the difference between being kind and rude... If a customer has to reprimand one of your employees, I beg to differ. Business today, is all about customer service, Bill, and you and your store are seriously lacking in this dept. Although I've shopped this store for over a decade, we have chosen to sever all future business with you. And just as others in these reviews, we take no issue in sharing how poorly you treat your customers. The rudeness appears to be a common theme. Incident: Our co is foregoing pro labels to printing in house (10's of 1000's). Dimension accuracy is crucial - centimeters matter. The label manuf in question has a shrink-wrapped pkg, no sheets visible, no sample sizes on the pkg, no floor samples (unlike other store products). I asked to see a label sheet to compare to my product containers I had in hand. The salesperson said I was out of luck, should try a pro label maker (after just having had the printing in house discussion), said I could use his tape measure and he walked away. I was shocked! Rudeness first, and just how can one use a tape measure on a sealed item that isn't visible? Container dimension was not in question. The salesman returned, opened the package, grumbled about it, walked away again, and after hearing it was too large by centimeters he interrupted and said "See? If you had just let me use my tape measure I wouldn't have had to open the package." A few minutes and a few words later, it was clear coming to this store was mistake. read more
