Garlicky, flavorful, so good. Will be thinking about this for a while. Definitely order sides, as the proteins just come with the protein listed unless you do a lunch special. The halloumi fries were incredible and came with an amazing sauce. Fried in a dedicated gluten free frier- amazing. The food was paired with a lovely aperol spritz, a lovely patio, and a kind and attentive server. Would go back every week if I could.

The menu at Shiok Express is limited and heavy on meat, which doesn't work so well for me as I'm Pescatarian. Consequently, we made a stop at Golden Pita just outside Lougheed Mall so that I could grab something there for my lunch while my husband would eat food from Shiok Express. It's a small restaurant but there are a few tables there if you'd like to sit and eat there. They've got one of those things that stands upright and rotates while holding a big chunk of meat on it. That's something I used to enjoy back when I was a meat eater. It definitely caught my husband's eye. If he hadn't already been set on eat at Shiok Express that day, I think he would have ordered some kind of meat dish from Golden Pita, so he could have the meat carved freshly from that rotating thingy...(I really need to figure out the proper word for that thingy!) I ordered the Vegan Special which came with 3 pieces of falafel, a spinach pie, stuffed grape leaf, tabbouleh salad, rice, pita bread and hummus and tahini dips. This was a wonderful meal and I highly recommend it. Even the rice was tasty. This one order gives you so much variety. The only thing I didn't like was the tabbouleh salad. There was too much parsley in this salad. Everything else was delicious and I really hope to go back there again sometime! Service: Fair Parking: Plentiful and free. Location: Convenient. Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.
