After a long day at work and travel, I was famished when I looked around on yelp for some affordable place to eat. Donair Spot popped up and I decided to give it a go. The place is super small but oh so nice! The owner James is the happiest, friendliest person I've met. When he asked how I would like my Donair I thought it's about what I want off the menu, but no! He meant how can I customize it for u!! With my add ons and stuff he recommended what I should add more and all at usual cost. When I told him ive been out since 6 am and it's 4pm now and I'm famished, he said go take ur donair and sit I will get u something else. He made me a big bowl of surprise fries!! Crispy crunchy fries with homemade sauces topped with cilantro and they were divine! The donair was yummy too. Fresh salads and superb homemade sauces. Delicious chicken, happy go lucky servers and great portions! This restaurant doesn't really jump out at you in W Broadway. I actually noticed the Subway sign and was walking over for an egg omelette on flatbread when I walked past their sandwich board in front of their store. As you can tell from my other review I love Middle Eastern food! Walked in and was greeted by 2 cheerful guys behind the counter. I was looking at their kebab menu on the wall and was told they're not serving that at the moment as it takes too long for lunch. The shawarma looked great but I asked for their largest plate as I was famished! I got half lamb and chicken on rice with garlic& hot sauce, tabouli, and humus with a full folded pita. I'm a big eater and the portion was amazing for under $13 with taxes. Chicken was nicely seasoned and salted the way I like. Lamb were flat slices that I wasn't too crazy about. Tabouli was awesome and cut away some of the saltiness when mixed into the rice with chicken. Humus I found a little on the runny side. I nice unexpected find and great value! If you're looking for that CLASSIC type of street donair, with pita bread out of a bag, standard gyro meat, etc... then you should try this Donair Spot. But, before you come... put on your grubbies, because your are BOUND to get messy! The meat (especially lamb) is extra juicy, and these guys throw on so much of the delicious sauce into the mix, that the combination means you will have delicious a mess of saucy wonderment falling apart in the bottom of your tinfoil-wrapped meal. Keep that tinfoil intact to spare your clothes! Everything they put in the wrap are the ingredients you expect, but fresh and flavourful above standard. If you want your donair extra spicy, ask them to add some fresh jalapenos. What a wonderfully violent kick in the foodhole!! read more

Great place for falafels! Too bad I never paid too much attention to this block on broadway or else maybe I would've tried this place sooner. I ordered a falafel wrap $6.99. The falafels were pretty good; good flavour and not dry - I've had bitter ones, burnt ones, and dry ones before at other donair places... Ingredients for the wrap tasted fresh. Overall the wrap was tasty and I enjoyed it. Will probably ask for more sauce in my wrap next time. Price is good and portions are good. Will definitely come back to try their lamb! read more

Wow. Can't believe this place is so highly rated, which is the only reason I came here craving a wrap. Either people don't have a clue what good shawarma tastes like or the reviews are fake. Affordable but bland. The bad - questionable hygiene, blech hummus. The good - didn't get food poisoning. I'll spare you the whole story but basically: 1. A shawarma place that doesn't ask you what you want in your wrap and shoves lettuce and cucumbers - fail 2. A shawarma dude that arrives from the back of the restaurant, is understandingly sweaty and touches his face before preparing your food without gloves - fail. 3. Got a chicken shawarma at around 2 pm ish, so it was definitely not the busy hour. Perhaps, that was the reason that the ingredients felt a bit not as fresh? I did found the meat to be so so seasoned and the whole pita to be quite dry. It couldn't used more sauce, and definitely more of the garlic sauce. Also, there needs to be some acidity or pickled vegetable to round up the flavors. read more

Delicious gyros with good variety of sauces. Solid pita bread. Smaller dinning area, good for 2-3 people in a group at most. Quick service overall, but it's popular at lunch so there may be a line. Good overall value with plenty of food. read more

I was starting to think this spot was a shawarma graveyard after all the failed places that opened and closed here one after another. I'm so glad a decent place has finally opened in near my work. This place ticks all the boxes for a quick, yummy lunch under $10 with friendly service to boot. They are generous with their toppings and sauces. The chicken could be crispier, but this is a pretty minor issue overall. Their hummus is really delicious but gets a bit lost in the wrap, so once in awhile I splurge on a platter so I can just eat the hummus with the salad and really enjoy the flavour. read more

Have to agree with the other reviews here. The man behind the counter on a Thursday night was genuinely friendly and so generous with toppings. Our wraps weighed the same as newborn babies, the falafel was fresh and crispy, and plenty of different veggie combinations on the menu to make anyone happy. Loved the Donair Spot! The guy that's always there (manager? owner?) is absolutely hilarious and genuinely cares about what he serves, definitely a highlight. It's a cozy little place with a Subway like layout so you can pick and choose what you want (get everything, trust me), it's pretty steadily busy during the lunch rush but mostly for take-out so there are always free tables. The lebanese wrap is my go-to when I'm getting off the Canada line and need a quick bite to eat, somehow the tabouleh just ties it all together for me. The chicken is far and above the best filling you can get, it's got a bunch of really interesting spices whereas the lamb and beef are pretty standard fare. Whatever you order will be stuffed to the gills with tasty meat and the veggies are extremely fresh, grilling it in the tinfoil is a nice touch also. Definitely some of the best shawarma in the city and the dude behind the counter makes it that much better. read more

If I could give no stars for this place I would. I had a horrible experience. The man working here was mopping the floor, as I came in to order my friend noticed he didn't wash his hands when he was handling our food. He wasn't even wearing gloves! After we pointed it out to him he starting arguing with us that he did wash his hands which was a complete lie. My friend decided to order somewhere else and I reluctantly decided to stick with my order. The guy then told me he will wash his hands again but he said it with such attitude - almost to prove a point. After he made my food he was still going on about it and at that point I actually felt very uncomfortable and told him I wanted my money back instead. He proceeded to argue with me and give me attitude even after I calmly asked him for my money back. He then gave me the wrong amount of money. I asked to speak to the owner and he said he was the owner (how unfortunate). I guess it's too much to ask these days of someone to wash their hands and put on gloves after they are mopping the floor...OH and it's during a pandemic! read more

Got the Caribbean chicken wrap Great portion and friendly service. From what I saw it was hygienic. The guy was wearing gloves and using tongs to prepare the food. My favourite donair place. The guy running it is funny and friendly, best of all he whips up a mean ass donair. He will make some saucy fries for you which I highly recommend!!! I love donairs and this place is pretty good!! The person who served me was really nice. The place is small but very clean. I got the lebanese wrap with lamb soooo good. The wrap is big but I think Donair Stop in Granville and Donair Dude in Davie St have bigger wraps. BUT either way they're ALL still YUMMY and FILLING. I'm so happy I found a donair place near me!! I will definitely come by more often when I'm on my way to the Canada line!! I actually had foodgasm. I swear by this donair spot it is 100/10. I think this was the worst falafel wrap I've ever had. Pre-fried, then microwaved, and smashed up (for some reason) when put in the pita. Despite huge dollops of various sauces, it tasted very bland. After 3 bites I threw it out. read more

Tried the new donair spot on DENMAN Street. Guys ... if you wanna compete and stay open on the busiest donair strip in Vancouver, you gotta do way better. Watery, bland chicken. Tasteless lamb. Bland, wet rice. Salad is fresh enough but no flavour. Get some life and flavour in your food! Tastes like airplane or hospital food. I refuse to believe that the people who run this place enjoy their own food. It's just lacking life. Stay away unless you are a huge fan of Subway sandwiches. If that's the case, you'll probably like this place because the food has zero personality. read more

Super tasty falafels! And the guy who works there is a crack up. He is generous and chatty and gave us a falafel ball to taste, totally blew us away! Now I am sad that we can't have that again as we live in the States. Must come up with the recipe(which he actually shared in a very basic way). Look for the evil eye or nazar in the shop. Not a place to go if you are looking for ambience because the TV is on and it's sports, but good food and lots of it. read more
