The food is pretty good but the customer service sucks! The women that work here have such poor attitudes. I use to come here often when I lived in the area but stopped coming after dealing with their grouchy attitudes every time. Today I thought I'd stop in after not coming here for a couple of years. Big surprise, same shitty attitude from the one lady that was working. She couldn't bring herself to even look at me as I stood infront of her to order. All I got was "what do you want" with a miserable face, as if she was so irritated that I had come in to give them business. I can think of at least 4 donair places we've eaten at within metro Vancouver, and several others across Kelowna and Calgary. Mega Donair has easily and without a doubt been the number one donair I've had to date. The bread is freshly made, warm and thin. This is the first time checking this place out after driving by it for years. What a mistake. I know there have been some bad reviews about service but I found it normal for place like this. Just loud and in Persian yelling out orders. They were not rude nor super friendly. Just normal. I ordered a Lamb- Falafel Super mix made Lebanese style with Humous and feta. As others have commented the amazing thing is that the bread wrapping is made fresh. No store bought pita. They grab dough, flatten it out and make it right in front of you. The meat and ingredients are standard but the falafels are very tasty and remind me almost of Deserts on Commercial. Freshly made (they have shut down). I think I made a mistake and should have ordered it with sweet sauce. Many seemed to be adding it. As for hygiene I would have to see Something that catches my eye but on first visit i did not. Some fancy restaurants have worse hygiene but you just never see it because they are in the kitchen. I definitely will be coming back to try other combinations. See you soon read more

First of all, let me tell you guys how incredibly fresh and delicious their donairs are. I have tried the lamb donair and chicken donair (I got both of them super spicy). They make the bread fresh right after you order. On top of that, they fill the donair to the max! All quality ingredients too...right in front of your eyes. Their customer service is superb!!! The YELP reviews are straight truth, this place makes ridiculously good food!!! I would drive by it all the time on my way home to Port Moody, promising myself that I would eventually stop in. Finally, one afternoon in the middle of the week, while on vacation, everything came to fruition. Best choice I made that day. The fresh baked pita is soft and chewy, textured almost like a Lavash. This is honestly their hook and it gets you on the first bite, it is like a warm blanket holding everything in. They have a number of different meats and veg to select from, also have set combos as well if you prefer not to pick and choose individual ingredients. You can mix and match the proteins and if you are into that Maritime style, they actually carry the Sweet Style sauce that's famous in Halifax. The Regular Size Donair was as long as my forearm and stuffed thick. I have a healthy appetite and I'd love to see someone tear into the MEGA size. Most times I'd suggest going light on the saucing to ensure the pita breads structural integrity, however, at this fine establishment, make sure you sauce up cause it is so much food in the wrap! It was BUSY when I arrived closer to 12:30. Orders were coming from diners eating in and people coming to pick up. On top of that, they were handily fulfilling orders from food delivery services. The two women behind the counter were practically an assembly line, it was almost like watching a food related ballet. If you can, try to call your order in and go pick it up. My absolute FAVOURITE donair place in the world. Since the opened up shop, both me and my family have come here for domains at least 30 times. The reasons we keep coming back: The donairs are huge, and I could eat the homemade pita by itself, it's THAT good! Tons of different menu items and choices which is nice. The price is decent compared to how much food you're getting. Ordering food is a breeze, and I've never had to deal with an incorrectly made order. Staff are SO friendly - they always ask us how our family is doing, how school is going, etc - they genuinely care about their customers. I remember when we were kids coming here and didn't quite have enough money one time, they were nice enough to let us pay the next time. It's a smaller place to eat, but still comfortable and inviting - with these donairs, despite their size, they're so tasty you won't be in there more than 20 minutes before everyone's finished their meal and is ready to go home. The total should have been (according to the website)$39 but turned into $55 because their prices are 3-4 years out of date and they have NO promotions!!! The pita is fresh, the meat choices are typical, but well seasoned and not dry. Toppings depend on your style - we went Lebanese and Persian. Good, non-garlicky tzatziki, and nothing was overdone. Friendly service, and a clean restaurant. Considering that strip mall is 50+ years old, it's in good shape. Oh -- you'd better be hungry, if you order anything larger than their regular size. Okay, lets talk about the pro of their donair first, the quantity is top notch. I can usually eat a large donair from other place in one sitting, but I can only eat half of it at this place. However, the rest of it is so bad. The meat is so salty, the rice is unseasoned, and there is only a little sauce on meat which is so bad that all I taste is salty flavor. This a review of their beef. & lamb plate, regular size. First off, they have lamb! The other place down the road didn't the last few times I went there. They have fresh rolled and cooked pita l, made when you place your orders. The meat is good, tasty but not out of the ordinary. The rice was pretty dry vs soft and oily like down the road. Sauces were flavourful. Salad was spicy with bell peppers. The humus was just plain bad. It tasted like it had lots of flour added (I'm guessing to increase volume) and had a strong metallic garlic taste - not the normal garlicky humus taste. :( I'd been here when they just bought the place from the previous owners - Ben Laila. I was disappointed then as well. On the wall they seem to have rave reviews and an award from Urbanspoon..... Not sure what those people were eating . Great food, the place is clean and above average in terms of other take out places. Friendly owners, they put more meat and veggies in the Donahue than other restaurants do. The only thing I dislike is their location but hopefully once all the construction is gone and Clarke road is back to normal, it might seem a bit better. Yep, this place lives up to the Yelp-hype. The fresh bread is stunning. A perfect, warm, soft wrap yet with wonderful chewiness. The proteins and ingredients are your standard donair stuff, with a few yummy extras. The spicy pickled carrots are a great addition. A good choice of sauces too. Hummus, tzatziki, sriracha, sweet Halifax donair sauce, and caesar dressing. There are numerous cheeses and other toppings you can add for a small surcharge if you need an even bigger pop of flavour. They really pack the meet in the donairs. A Super will fill me well and I'm a pretty big eater. We watched a Mega being made and boy did it look like a monster. It could probably feed a small family. Luckily Hilltop Market is next door because I sure needed some minty chewing gum following my pungent meal! read more

I don't know what else to say, except that, this place is awesome! Not a lot of places locally make your Falafel to order. Seems to be only downtown. Not only does this place make your Falafel to order, but they make your bread to order... to my knowledge no other place does that. That's right... they take a piece of dough, roll it out, and cook it on a flat top, right for your order, while you wait . ( don't worry this only takes about a minute) They also make these pickled carrots that they put in their wraps, that just no other place has as well. What I love the most about Mega Donair is their fresh made pita bread which helps them stand out from most of the other donair places in the Port Moody area. The owners are very friendly and the location can be easily missed if you are not familiar with the area. The only downside to this place is sometimes their chicken meat tastes funny - I am not sure if I had a bad batch or something. I try to come here when it's not busy because it's a wife and husband operation - sometimes their son helps them tend the till. I'm gonna start off by saying that the food here is good. The portions are huge and the quality is great. However, our experience was largely tainted by the rude service and unsanitary practices. Firstly, while waiting to be served I watched as the lady, who I assume is the owner/manager, come out from the back to adjust a sign, sneezed twice into her bare hand before going back to do food prep (without washing her hands). Then, after another woman serving us finished wrapping my brothers donair, she referred to him using a derogatory term (in Persian) to the lady at the cash. One of my coworkers recommended I check out Mega Donair, and I am very glad she did! Mega Donair is an absolutely fantastic donair place in Port Moody. Located in a strip mall on Clarke Road, it's a gem that is definitely worth visiting. It's a small local business owned by a friendly husband and wife team. How it works is you first choose what you want in your donair (or platter). The options are falafel, beef, lamb, and chicken. You can choose one, or choose all of the meats if you are so inclined. Next, you select the size (regular, super, or mega). The prices range from ~$6 for the regular donair to $14 for the mega donair. The pita is rolled out and cooked right in front of you, which means it is fresh and super delicious. Once it is cooked, you select the veggies you want inside (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, parsley, green pepper, and spicy carrot). After that, you select your sauce (hummus, tzatziki, hot, sweet, or caesar). My favorite order here is the regular falafel donair with all veggies and all sauces, which is super delicious and very reasonably priced at $5.70. I have also tried the chicken and lamb, and both are great. I just love that everything is made in front of you, fresh, and filling. They always have good deals for donair and drink combos, so definitely read the signs around the restaurant before you order. If you are in the area, you simply have to try Mega Donair. I've been in search of the best donair in town, and I might have stumbled upon it by sheer luck! Mega Donair is a small shop with a big heart. Owned and operated by a welcoming and friendly family of Iranians, they serve some of the best donairs and platters in this area of the Lower Mainland. What makes them so desirable? Unlike every other donair place I've been to, Mega Donair refuses to serve store bought pita bread. Remember the times you've waited in line and watched pita bread being taken out of a plastic bag then microwaved? It doesn't happen here! Instead, they prepare their bread fresh with a homemade recipe. Watch as they lay out the dough, knead it, flatten it, then lightly grill it. It doesn't get any fresher than that! The chicken, beef and lamb platters and donairs come in various sizes (including a MEGA size). Needless to say, the food is fantastic. Every bite was flavourful, well seasoned and filling. If you're a vegetarian, they offer vegetarian samosas too! Customers usually take-out their orders, but there are chairs, tables and a mounted television present in case you choose to dine-in.
