There is not a worse Doctor than Dr. Lussky. Takes no interest in any questions. Belittled any concerns that were raised. He brought on additional panic and anxiety attacks. His nurses are rude and uncaring. I feel sorry for any patient that is forced to be treated by him. read more

Why is there not an option for zero stars here on Yelp? When I started experiencing odd neurological symptoms last year, my GP suggested I see a specialist. I picked Dr. Lussky out of my insurance directory. Why, oh why? First of all, I would like to say that I have never had the dubious honor of being kicked out of a doctor's office before seeing Dr. Lussky. I came to him nervous and upset, but with every faith that he could help me. He was rude and condescending from the very first minute. He would ask a question and then not even allow me to finish answering it before interrupting me with another question. After only 5 minutes, his brusque demeanor led me to snap at him, I mean, if I knew what the problem was, I wouldn't have bothered to see him in the first place, right? He slammed my folder shut and told me he would not treat me, and that if I did not leave, he would call security. There is a phrase in internet-land, and it is called WTF? When I arrived home in tears, shaking and completely freaking out over what had just happened, my phone rang and it was Dr. Lussky. He apologized for what happened, not really attributing it to anything but asking me to come back. I did. He preformed an exam and referred me for an MRI "to rule out" MS. Then he promptly went on vacation. I was left to panic and worry until he returned and got around to calling me with the MRI results, which indicated a pretty good chance of MS. He transferred me to the receptionist to make an appointment. The next one was weeks away. Now mind you, I had just been given the news that I could have MS. I politely asked the receptionist if Dr. Lussky might be able to squeeze me in sooner, in light of my MRI results. She came back to the phone and said, "Dr. Lussky said you can wait." I can wait? You just dropped a bombshell on me, after our already rocky start, and I can wait? I'll pass, doc. I was able to find another neurologist who fit me in the very next day, who was polite, and respectful, and did not have the personality of a rabid pitbull. The bad news is, yes I had/have MS. The good news is, I don't have Dr. Lussky as a doctor. read more

This guy almost killed my daughter. I was out of town on business when my epileptic adult daughter missed her meds. My husband called 911 and they took her to the Elmhurst Hospital ER (another place to avoid). Dr. Lussky was their on-call neurologist. Even tho my daughter had been there many times, and her med records were clear, he did not give her the full dose she needed to get out of status. Prior to this visit she had been listed as 'self-pay'. On this visit, they discovered she had coverage. She ended up remaining in ICU, in status for FOUR DAYS. Status destroys brain cells. When I came in I had a fit and threatened him before he would dose her up to consciousness. Then I had to threaten him again to get him to release her. My husband went to his office and threatened him in person. My daughter was being treated by a very good epilepsy specialist at Rush Pres St. Luke's down in Chicago. After all this happened, Dr. Lussky called me, stating that my daughter needed a local neurologist in the neighborhood and he would be happy to be that neurologist. I couldn't believe this guy. Don't go anywhere near him. He could kill you just to collect the insurance payments. read more

Horrible bedside manner and does not care at all about the patient or the caregiver. I could not attend a doctor appointment for my dad so I had my mom call me on speaker phone so I could be a part of the conversation of his dementia. This doctor's attitude was terrible, we felt belittled and we left feeling that we got no new answers. I will be searching for another doctor. He should not be practicing as he is rude and unprofessional. read more

In May of 2011 I got hit with dizzy spells that turned into double vision and a mess of symptoms that went on to get diagnosed as vertigo, then not vertigo. By the time I felt better I was sent for an MRI and was then referred to Dr. Lussky by Elmhurst Hospital. I did not know anything other than what was found on the MRI was abnormal. It took about a month to get into an appointment with Dr. Lussky, this whole time not knowing what was abnormal. My meeting with Dr. Lussky was a little difficult. I found him on the arrogant side, but most doctors are. He expressed his frustration that I was diagnosed with vertigo and explained the lesions on my brain and also explained that this could be MS. In the mean time when he was asking me about my general information and found out I was in nursing school, his response was "Why?" I just rolled my eyes and laughed because I am not one to be rude to someone who is dealing with my health and is supposed to have my best interest in mind. In the following months, I had test upon test to rule out diseases that were not MS. The last test was the spinal tap. Dr. Lussky made me feel as though the spinal tap would give me a definitive yes or no. Again, I had to wait another month to get the results. With this spinal tap, I was sent to the emergency room and was really not able to move anywhere for a few days. Clearly not Dr. Lussky's fault but a horrible experience nonetheless. When I finally got into the office, he told me that it was not MS with the first smile that I think I had ever seen from him. This gave me confidence, he then quickly explained that there is a 15% chance it was still MS but "he did not think that was the case with me" We were to continue to monitor and take pills to subside my occasional dizzy spells that I would get fora a minute or two daily. In August of 2012 I got another episode exactly like the one a year ago, just much more intense and lasting much longer. After a visit to the emergency room, I was ruled to need an MRI from my neurologist. When calling his office, which I made add is full of rude receptionists who make you feel like you are interrupting their day by calling, we were told he would not approve the MRI until I got in to see him 4 days later, despite the fact I was due for my routine MRI anyways. Upon getting to the office that day, Dr. Lussky really did not do much despite the quick exam, and telling me I needed an MRI. SHOCKER! So we made the appointment and got an MRI done the following Tuesday about another 4 days later. In the meantime I am still symptomatic, a little better but symptomatic. He gave a script that I was not to take before the MRI, so maybe rushing this MRI may have been smart considering I could barely walk to the bathroom, that just wasn't in his game plan. It took Dr. Lussky about 4 days further to give results, that really did not do me any good. All that was stated was one lesion got bigger and two had gone down, and he recommended me to physical therapy to improve my symptoms. When I asked why this may have happened he said he did not know, and when I asked if there was a way to find out, he simply stated no. The physical therapist did not even know why I was sent to her, and sent me with home exercises. Words did not explain the frustration of my one month episode of double vision, dizziness, lack of motor skills and coordination, and every time I talked to Dr. Lussky, I got off the phone in tears of frustration. I decided for myself to get a second opinion, at Northwestern Hospital and they diagnosed me with MS. I honestly cannot say that Dr. Lussky lied to me, or even misinformed me. He simply did not care about me as a patient or as a person. The lesion that got bigger was actually a new lesion, the spinal tap did nothing to rule out MS but simply diagnose it, and the MRI should have been rushed to see the lesions when they were activated. Despite his arrogant behavior and sense of dry humor (all things that come with the territory of seeing a doctor at times), Dr. Lussky would have let the MS go without treatment. I cannot nor do I want to do anything more about the horrible bed side manner, or lack of answers Dr. Lussky gave me. My true hope is just that people here my story and the stories of Beth and Donna before mine, and think twice about seeing him. He has no business practicing medicine if he truly does not care about the patients he is practicing on. read more

Actually, I like Dr. Lussky. He is a bit dry witted, but I think he is cery thorough. I went to him 10 years ago after no doctor could find out why my legs kept going numb. He diagnosed my disc problem, and gave me my first round of epidurals. I did switch to an orthopedic surgeon after that, only because he would do the surgery. I made Dr. Lussky promise me that if I had a stroke, he would be around to make sure I got better. 2 years ago, I did suffer 2 minor strokes and Dr. Lussky WAS there. This past month, I had dizzy spells. Had a carotid test, had bp checked, went the whole gamut. Got into him, and he diagnosed an inner ear problem. I thought he might be losing it, my ears are FINE. But, two days on the medication and not a single dizzy spell. He ran all the neurological tests on me, and it is not a brain malfunction. I consider him very thorough and good at diagnostics. If you are looking for a warm fuzzy doctor that will hold your hand and help you realize your worst fears...then this is not for you. You want someone that does his job, and knows his job, I trust Dr. Lussky read more

Stay away from the "butcher of elmhurst". I was diagnosed with a chronic neurological condition and one time, I was running a tad late in traffic when I called his receptionist to let her know I was on my way and that I would be more than happy to wait. Instead, she rudely tells me not to bother and that this quack will no longer see me. I was having symptoms at the time and what I should've done was report him to the IDPR and medical society. He also delayed putting me on a medication that would delay my onset of symptoms, the standard of care once this condition is diagnosed. I hope this guy gets his license taken away and the community and neurological community would be better off without him. read more

Seven years ago my husband rushed me to the emergency room at Elmhurst Hospital with symtoms of a stroke. After going through some testing and then an MRI, I was told I had MS. My husband insisted I see a neurologist instantly. The ER doctor called Dr. Lussky and his associates to see if anyone could squeeze me in. Within an hour I was at his office and he was reviewing my records. He was on his lunch hour but without hesitation he cleared sometime to see me. I actually just came back this morning from my yearly visit with Dr Lussky and would never see anyone else. He is a soft spoken, kind man. He truly cares about his patients. I wish I could give a no star review, he is that horrible of a doctor. His bedside manner was how do I put this in a nice way horrible. He asked me questions then did not let me finished before answering for me. He is very very arrogant, and I am not sure why , he treats his patients like he is better than everyone one else. I know he went to a top college for medical school I saw that on his desk, I just wished they would of failed him, he does not belong treating sick people. He made a snide remark about my medical insurance because I lost my good insurance when I got sick. I left his office in tears because he treated me like I was a complete idiot. I am college educated also, but that doesn't mean anything to me, what's important is how you treat other people. I really feel sorry for anyone that has to go see him, or anyone that has to work for him. I went to him because I was desperately sick, and hoping to get answers, he did not help me at all, and I refuse to ever see him again. Also most of his Ms patients probably have Lyme disease, and he just can't get over himself long enough to help them. For future reference check reviews first, if multiple people say he is not a good caring doctor, they are most likely right. read more
