This is a two-part review to result in a three-star rating…read more Doctor (5 Stars) ================ Dr. Jonathan Meek is a great doctor who takes the time to answer patients' questions or address their concerns. He doesn't come off as one of those money-hungry doctors. He's also the only doctor I've seen to carry around a laptop to keep track of all the patients' information. Billing (1 Star): ================ I've had a few billing issues with Fairview Family Practice before and one today. I usually prepay my copay with a credit card at the time of my visit to avoid messy billing issues. Twice, I've paid a $20 copay but still received a $20 copay invoice about a month after my date of service. When I spoke to the receptionist about those invoices, I would find out that my payment was not applied to my account like it should have and was just sitting in their system! They had to manually apply my payment to my account. Today's billing issue really takes the cake though. I paid a $20 copay on the same day of a prior visit and found out later that my copay should have only been $13 to this facility and $7 to a lab based on my insurance claim statements (I don't get insurance claim statements until weeks after my date of service). I called and spoke to a receptionist named Ashley to get a $7 refund so that I can send the payment to the lab. She was incredibly rude and refused to give me a refund even though I told her: --- My insurance claim statement clearly states "Your Copayment Amount $13.00." --- I spoke to an insurance representative, who checked with someone else internally on my claim, and CONFIRMED that my copay is $13. You know when you're on the phone with someone, and you can feel that he or she is rolling his or her eyes at you? There was a pause in the middle of the conversation, and my eyes were squinting from suspicion. Next thing I knew, she handed the call to some other person without telling me (I think Linda? I forget her name because I was so upset at that point). Linda was the exact same way and repeated the exact same thing as Ashley. In the end when we were getting nowhere, Ashley gave me the phone number to their billing department to deal with the issue. I found out after several phone call attempts that she gave me the WRONG phone number. The one she gave me kept ringing without going to voicemail and eventually hung up on me. When I finally got the correct number, I spoke to Ann from their billing department. She was very nice and stated that she will process and mail my refund. She also agreed that Ashley and Linda should not have handled the matter the way they did and suggested that I just call the billing department directly in the future (of course, now I know). LONG STORY SHORT: - Use a credit card instead of cash or checks to make payments (in case you need to refer back or make disputes). - Call the billing department directly at 630-856-6840 instead of talking to the receptionists. - ALWAYS check your claim statements to make sure you pay the correct amount. Overall, I cannot recommend going to this office until they get their billing together.

I am allergic to several medications, and have numerous adverse reactions. Yet, he decided to prescribe me a new drug, Levaquin. Even though, he knew that the only medication I did not have a reaction to was a Zpack. Levaquin is now known for horrific adverse reactions, and is involved in several class actions. I had a horrific, terrifying reaction to Levaquin. I was transported to the ER. I stopped seeing Brooks regularly and began seeing other doctors. Years later (2021) I went to obtain my records to show a new primary my adverse reaction to this medication. To my surprise, there was no documentation of the adverse reaction, or that I was prescribed this medication at all. I went to see Brooks after the ER visit, that was not in there either. I specifically requested these documents for this adverse reaction. There was another incident in 2018, too. In my desperation for help, I reached out to Brooks (after not seeing him for a very long time). I was getting ready to take the bar (I am a lawyer) and I started having horrific panic attacks. I couldn't step outside my apartment without having a panic attack. I went to Brooks in tears asking if he could help me, and I even asked for a prescription for Xanax to help with the panic attacks. Instead he said he would prescribe me Prozac. He prescribed me either 60mg or 90mg of Prozac (I can't remember which one). When I went to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, the pharmacist asked me how long I was on the medication. I told her this was my first time filling - she told me that my doctor shouldn't have prescribed me this, that he should have started me off at 5mg. She said she'd still fill it. I was desperate and I stupidly trusted the prescription. At that point in time, it was a miracle I was even able to get to a pharmacy without a panic attack. I took the medicine and went off of it within three weeks. It was excruciating. While I think everyone's medical treatment is private, I hope this helps someone and I'm sorry I didn't post sooner. After spending time with my family during the holidays and realizing several were still seeing this doctor/going here, but never heard what I went through, I thought it best to share so people could make informed decisions.

On my very first visit to Girgis, Dr. Sam spent more than an hour with me. He ordered a CT scan and a full blood panel (turns out I had a deviated septum and low antibody levels for several strains of pneumococcal bacteria, which no doctor had ever told me, or even tested for). Eventually, when we had the results, he patiently went over everything in detail, and recommended surgery. The surgery itself was very smooth and the recovery was straightforward. Two months later, it has been LIFE-CHANGING. I am breathing better and sleeping better. Before the surgery, I generally needed an antihistamine, a decongestant, and a nasal spray every day. I have not taken any of them--not even once--since the surgery. During the entire process, the whole staff--Dr. Sam, the nurses, the receptionists, and the billing department--were kind, patient, and always available to answer questions. Do not waste time going somewhere else. This is the best ENT you will find in the area.

Furthermore, she has been in continuous communication about how to introduce additional potential allergenic foods, and has provided guidance and care along with way. I value the apology and assistance they provided to enhance our experience. I am very disappointed with Darien Immediate Care. I took my son there due to a shoulder injury and he was taken in for an X-Ray. PA Erin Berman read his x-ray and misdiagnosed him having a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder and informed us to go to the ER ASAP. When the ER doctor read these same x-rays, I was informed that only my son's collarbone was broken, but his shoulder was not dislocated. However, the ER doctor nevertheless was required to take additional x-rays at this point to confirm the diagnosis that the shoulder was not, in fact, dislocated. Therefore, my son did not need to be rushed to the ER and could've received urgent care for his collarbone with a follow up with an orthopedic doctor. As a result, in addition to what this facility billed us, we incurred additional fees and costs for the ER visit and additional x-rays, and spent additional time agonizing over the injury. Therefore, I requested to speak with the office manager regarding my billing, who promised to call me but never did. When I spoke to the billing department, they refused to transfer me to the office manager or share contact information and refused to adjust my bill in any way. While I have no issue paying for medical services, I do have an issue incurring unnecessary additional fees and costs due to the misdiagnosis. If my son was diagnosed properly in this facility, we wouldn't have had to go the ER and he would walked away with a sling, which is the recommended treatment for a broken collarbone. This is also my second negative experience with this facility. During a prior visit, we saw PA Anum Haq who diagnosed my son with an ear infection; however, PA Anum Haq then failed to timely send the required prescription to the pharmacy, which delayed my son's healing and caused him more pain. I will never go to this facility again, and will share my experience where possible so that other families do not have to incur unnecessary additional expenses when money is already tightly budgeted for most.

Having been here before, she knew my medical history and prescribed inhalers for me and ordered a nebulizer treatment. I left feeling much relieved that I had been examined and had a plan to help. Melissa, the medical assistant, was thorough with her vital checks and made sure I had my printed out summary of care when I left. Great place to go when not feeling well.
