    Spirit tasting menu
    Ariel M.

My husband and I stopped by on our way to another winery without a reservation, which was no problem. The ladies working were great; friendly and helpful from the moment we entered the tasting room. We learned that there's two tasting menus - one with spirits and one with wines, with the spirits made from the grapes as well. I can only speak to the spirit tasting because that's all I did; I tried two different brandies, a pink vodka, and limoncello. They also had gin as well, which I didn't choose to taste. We decided to sit outside on the patio because they have a lovely property. Overall, had a great experience and would definitely recommend.

Our first visit to the DFV tasting room was made even more special by being well taken care of by Mitch. A very gracious host who took us through their tasting of Reserve Red Wines. Hard to pick a favorite, but their Grenache and Cab Franc made us very happy. Definitely putting this on our list of tasting rooms to share with friends. And definitely looking forward to buying a bottle or two to enjoy at their outdoor patio space. Also excited to visit their Spirits Lounge, where a tasting of their infused Vodkas is on our calendar. We did see that they have a Limoncello Liqueur, and after Mitch poured us a sample, we purchased a bottle along with our Reds. Also enjoyed the retail/wine swag shop. Already started my list of must-have items (their charcuterie boards high on that list).

We went wine tasting for my birthday. My husband has been wanting to try this winery for a couple years now. We decided to try it out. We went on a Friday late afternoon. There were a couple other people here picking up. We decided to do a wine tasting. After trying the wine flight we decided to join the club. I love the intimate feeling you get being here. I don't feel like just a number. We want to belong to a club where they treat you like family. This place definitely gives you that vibe. They let us try a couple vodkas and we enjoyed our wine outside. They also have a bocce court down below. Our favorites were: Reserve Petite Sirah Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Malbec Reserve Sparkling Rose

I went in for a tasting recently, and was pleasantly surprised. I don't normally do tastings, but the environment and service here, may have changed my mind. Great open space if you get too comfortable inside. 10/10, would recommend.

Donati was the last winery on our list during Wine Safari - 2022. I highly recommend partaking in this experience and helping out a fantastic non-profit. Donati was super cute and had the most welcoming servers. We were greeted immediately and escorted to the patio where they had an adorable capuchin monkey and gorgeous lemur. I loved the selection at Donati, my favorite being their Claret - a bright fruit forward wine with clean acidity. I would definitely visit Donati again. From the wine, to the service, and the vibe - all great!

We checked in and were treated to a tasting of their Zinfandel Nouveau upon arrival while they got out table ready... nice and refreshing for a warm afternoon. We were seated in the separate dining room building across the patio with lovely panoramic views of the vineyards on one side and a floral garden on the other. Josh, our server, poured our 4 other shared tasting flight as we perused the menu... Chardonnay, Grenache, Syrah and Super Paso (red blend). Wines were all lovely, but our favorites were the Zinfandel Nouveau and an extra treat pour of Zinfandel. The food was delightful too... * Focaccia with Avocado Butter -- So good (and I don't usually indulge in bread). Nice lightly crunchy crust with soft chewy centers. * Marinated Olives * Golden beet salad with arugula, picked onions and artichoke feta dip -- yum, and perfect dipping to finish off the focaccia. * Fresh Grilled Halibut with a mole Blanco sauce -- Fresh caught from nearby Morro Bay. Perfectly grilled, moist and flavorful. Excellent! Good food paired with food wine, great service, and beautiful surroundings...We look forward to visiting again.

The place is very busy. We opted for a wine tasting with lunch. They offered 5 wines and proper tasting pours. When we were seated, water was quickly served and we ordered their House-made Sourdough Focaccia which was served with lavender butter and lavender salt. That was very tasty - the lavender butter and salt worked well with the bread. My wife ordered the Duck Confit and I ordered the Bucatini Pasta which featured Mighty Cap Mushrooms. The sauce was very rich and flavorful. The pasta was cooked properly, and the mushrooms were just so good. The Duck Confit was similar - the duck leg was cooked properly, and worked great with the Heirloom tomatos and plum, all of which sat on a wild rice salad. You can skip the wine tasting and order drinks or wine off the menu if you want. Take a moment to walk around the grounds, look up at the ceiling work. They have have a shop with some neat winery stuff. Staff and service were excellent, and the menu and the food were outstanding!

The view from the patio is pretty as they sit up on a hill and they have live music frequently during the summer. They offer both wine tastings as well as spirit tastings and clubs for each as well as a cocktail club. I've been part of their cocktail club in the past and they ship a super cute box with all of the cocktail ingredients and recipe cards to make 5 or so cocktails with the spirits in your shipment. The only reason I discontinued my membership is because I wasn't getting through the spirits quickly enough as I tend to be more of a wine drinker. I am a current wine club member and really love their wines - they're super easy tasty and approachable. The price point also is great for the area. The "Ln" wines tend to be my favorite - loving the Ln 5 right now. Overall service is always great, even when they have only 1 or 2 people behind the bar they still do a great job of taking care of everyone.

But alas, we finally made it happen, and we had such a great experience. The tasting room is beautiful and grand, it was so cool to hear about the building and how it was restored. Tastings are by appointment, which you can book and schedule online. When you arrive the gate is closed and you buzz in to let them know you're there, so I probably wouldn't try to just walk in. As we approached the tasting room someone met us outside with our first taste of wine, such a nice touch. We sat inside at one of the comfortable couch settings, but they also had bar seating and bigger tables larger groups. You are also able to take your wine outside and explore a little bit, which we did. We noticed other groups with dogs, so they are dog friendly even inside! We were helped by Taylor who led us through the tasting, which was already set up and ready to go at the table when we arrived. Even though the wines were all out, she stopped in as we worked our way through them to talk about them a bit more. Including the welcome pour when we arrive, the tasting menu had 2 whites and 3 reds when we were in. We ended up trying a couple other wines that weren't in the tasting, and ended up getting bottles of the sensibility from the menu and a zin that was and off menu pour. Would absolutely come back here for an elevated and sophisticated wine experience that doesn't feel stuffy at all.

The tasting room was named one the top #19 wineries in Architectural Digest (August 2018) in the WORLD! And #2 of the top #19. Now that's amazing and well deserved! Lacey was our tasting room host and she was wonderful! She knew all the history and well described the wines. She didn't rush us and encouraged us to relax, wander around, and enjoy the tastes. We were on the fence about one of the wines, and she offered us an older vintage so we would know how it would taste in 10 years! That worked! We were very impressed with their wines and they definitely sell themselves! The inside is very roomy and comfortable. There is also seating with nice views, should you want to relax outside. Definitely have added Epoch to our list of wines to buy and places to visit for future Paso trips!
