Love making this unplanned stop at Donati's! Great outside seating either at the 4 person tables on the patio or Adirondack chairs on the garden patio. Perfect places to drink, chat and snack. Wine or spirit flights are available - we opted for the spirits which was fun. We had a bit of a discussion on which 4 to try, and our server gave us an extra tasting to help us out. The spirit flight gave a great variety of flavors and I highly recommend to try to switch up wine tastings. Will definitely stop by again! read more

My husband and I stopped by on our way to another winery without a reservation, which was no problem. The ladies working were great; friendly and helpful from the moment we entered the tasting room. We learned that there's two tasting menus - one with spirits and one with wines, with the spirits made from the grapes as well. I can only speak to the spirit tasting because that's all I did; I tried two different brandies, a pink vodka, and limoncello. They also had gin as well, which I didn't choose to taste. We decided to sit outside on the patio because they have a lovely property. Overall, had a great experience and would definitely recommend. read more

Our first visit to the DFV tasting room was made even more special by being well taken care of by Mitch. A very gracious host who took us through their tasting of Reserve Red Wines. Hard to pick a favorite, but their Grenache and Cab Franc made us very happy. Definitely putting this on our list of tasting rooms to share with friends. And definitely looking forward to buying a bottle or two to enjoy at their outdoor patio space. Also excited to visit their Spirits Lounge, where a tasting of their infused Vodkas is on our calendar. We did see that they have a Limoncello Liqueur, and after Mitch poured us a sample, we purchased a bottle along with our Reds. Also enjoyed the retail/wine swag shop. Already started my list of must-have items (their charcuterie boards high on that list). read more

We went wine tasting for my birthday. My husband has been wanting to try this winery for a couple years now. We decided to try it out. We went on a Friday late afternoon. There were a couple other people here picking up. We decided to do a wine tasting. After trying the wine flight we decided to join the club. I love the intimate feeling you get being here. I don't feel like just a number. We want to belong to a club where they treat you like family. This place definitely gives you that vibe. They let us try a couple vodkas and we enjoyed our wine outside. They also have a bocce court down below. We just left Donati. It's a place that we've visited before and were looking forward to visiting again. Unfortunately we were looking for spirit tasting and our server "Melissa" was not able to explain the spirits to us. She described one as pungent. We decided not to purchase a tasting and sat for a few minutes to plan our next stop. When driving away "Melissa" flipped us off. This shocking behavior resulted in a phone call to speak with the manager. The manager was MELISSA!!! Shocking that a person in management would flip off potential customers who may have come back. When speaking to Melissa she called us horrible people who just used their place as a park. Perhaps if she would've approached us in a professional manner and simply reminded us we would've definitely purchased a tasting or left but flipping off people as they're driving away is a little passive/aggressive and unbecoming of a manager. Yelp's 2 Star Rating description is "Could've been better" and that is about right. Specifically made a reservation for the Terrace for our tasting because it overlooks the vines, and when we arrived it was only open to "by the glass", so we were seated on the Patio overlooking the 46 highway. Felt like the server was anxious for us to leave so descriptions were very brief, on pur was just named and that's it, I think we might have been the last reservation of the day - but if you want to close early, just say so in the hours. We sat outside contemplating if we were going to do a tasting. We decided not to. As we were leaving the manager Melissa walked out and flipped us off. We called her afterwards regarding her action. She spoke on behalf of the owner Tracy and stated that the owner would have her back regarding her action. She stated that we were horrible people. I cannot recommend this place enough!! We were a party of seven, celebrating a bachelorette, and had intended to do a few wine tastings that day. Instead, we stayed the whole time here! Donati was the last winery on our list during Wine Safari - 2022. I highly recommend partaking in this experience and helping out a fantastic non-profit. Donati was super cute and had the most welcoming servers. We were greeted immediately and escorted to the patio where they had an adorable capuchin monkey and gorgeous lemur. I loved the selection at Donati, my favorite being their Claret - a bright fruit forward wine with clean acidity. I would definitely visit Donati again. I have been a fan and supporter of Donati for some time through purchasing at stores etc. I was just at the tasting room on Tuesday as things were starting to open up in the Paso Robles Area with Covid. While we enjoyed the wines, I was a bit dismayed that our sever was not wearing a mask at all. We were offered indoor or patio seating and chose the patio. The maklessness was also indoors. Other wineries in the area are taking Covid and the necessary precautions seriously. I wish Donati would as well. I liked the reserve wines so much that we purchased two bottles. Only after we left did and I went on their site did I realize that they have a 3 bottle membership. This would have been a a really nice thing to know before or during my purchase of the 2 bottles since I would have received 20% off. I'm not sure why our server did not let us know this. The tasting room was pleasant but lacked any character or charm. They do have some family history and photos on the walls. The folks serving the wine were friendly and very low-key. As of this date they charged $10 for 5 pours. The wines here just weren't for me; not bad but I had no interest in buying anything. It's my second wine tasting on the Central Coast. It definitely feels like they're trying to attract people here but you can find some really good wineries great tastings with good value compared to the touristy Napa and Sonoma Valley areas of California. November 27, 2018 Visited today. Been several years since we were last in Paso Robles for wine tasting. Our memories are the time we went to our first block party here at Donati about 10 years ago. So much fun! Today it was a quiet Tuesday afternoon and so we got to spend some quality time with Tracy (owner) in the tasting room. Wines were excellent as usual. We bought a bottle. $15 tasting fee. Tracy was personable and friendly and suggested a Mexican restaurant to us for Taco Tuesday tonight (Taco Roco) as that was what I was craving. We ate there after we left Donati. It was just okay but not great. Ps. Paso Robles needs some serious help when it comes to Mexican food. The Mexican restaurants they have in this area are pathetic and wouldn't last a day where I come from. But this review is about Donati and they are great! read more

First stop on our wine tasting tour with The Wine Wrangler was at the Donati Family Vineyard. Our group of 8 was expected and they were ready for us and we got started downing wine samples right away. The staff knowledgeable but didn't come across as arrogant as they were very friendly and pleasant. They were also very interactive with the crowd as they provided our group with mustaches for photo ops and kept pouring samples until we left. Great whites and reds--they are offered in two different tastings. The red is a $10 taste, and the whites are a $5 taste. We opted for the reds, and then they asked if we'd like to revisit any of the wines. The atmosphere was laid back, and the ladies who worked there were funny. Hubby asked if we could taste some whites, and even though one ought not go from red to white, they weren't pretentious about it at all. We ended up getting a very reasonably priced bottle of pinot blanc and no tasting fee for the whites or reds. There is a picnic area that is quiet and shaded. Love this spot. Easier access with the roundabout. They've definitely grown and expanded their tastings. The update to the outdoor patio during Covid is amazing. Dog and kid friendly. Ezio is the superstar of this winery. A very fortunate blend that evolves beautiful. The inmigrant is good, but not very impressive. Whites: Sauvignon blanc is the best. Downside: they sell the water, so be prepared for that if you want to clean your palate between tastes. read more

This is a must, forget the hustle and bustle of a commercial giant vineyard and winery, this is family and from the moment you pass the doors you'll recognize this...small, intimate, FRIENDLY, Mark, the owner, was behind the counter, pouring, chatting, small room with a musician pair, singing, Pizza samples, GREAT PRODUCT AND KNOWLEDGE, we were here for an hour, left to go to another winery and upon arrival, standing at a counter for 10 minutes without so much of a "welcome", we immediately regretted our decision having left Donati. it's amazing what effect and how much of an impression a group of people can leave on a group of visitors and the people, staff at Donati family winery understand that more than others...
