I came across this food truck all thanks to my apartment complex inviting Doner Kebap King Karl over to our apartment complex for dinner one evening. To be as contactless as possible, there was an online ordering and payment portal provided, so all we had to do was walk up to the truck at our schedule food pick up time. I went ahead and ordered their signature döner kebab with gyro meat and a side order of French fries. The döner kebab was phenomenal, and it certainly did not disappoint! The bread was piping hot, floury, fresh, and stuffed full to the brim with that perfectly thinly sliced gyro meat! It was also loaded up with freshly sliced tomatoes and their own version of a cole slaw which was unique in flavor. It reminded me of and tasted very much like the döner kebab I've had in Frankfurt!! It was then topped off with a delicious yogurt sauce. They ran out of fries by the time I ordered, so they refunded me on the spot with some cash when walked up to pick up my order. There is döner kebab, and they nailed it. The döner kebab is one of the world's most perfect foods. Bring us your poor, your inebriated, your downtrodden and just plain tired, and we shall hand them a giant bread pocket stuffed full of meat on the cheap. Why this isn't more of a thing here always baffles my mind. The beef is flavorful, the sauce is creamy and comforting and it's all in one tidy handheld package. The bread is a little more toasty than I'm used to, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The staff is friendly, and even accommodates my dislike of tomatoes when assembling my döner. The truck sits in a nice shaded corner of the park, with trees and canopies making it a pretty pleasant place to sit. Honestly, the only things missing from the experience are lamb as an available filling and the occasional Porsche prototype sighting outside, hahaha. There are the more common gyros here as well, although I haven't tried them given that I can get those all across Austin. They look all right. The best doner I've ever had, and this is coming from someone who has traveled to Istanbul and Beirut recently. In addition to the spectacular food, the owner is a warm, welcoming, and kind man. I am so happy I came across this lovely food truck. From the juicy meat, to the yummy sauce, and freshly baked bread (not store bought), this sandwich is unparalleled. It's important to note that the owner makes his own meat and stacks it together before roasting it. This is unlike 100% of the doner spots out here, where the meat is usually bought pre-packaged into a pre-made cone. And you will know what I mean with your first bite. My partner who was born and raised in Germany said that this place was the closest to the doner he had back in Germany, especially because no one in America actually gets the bread right, except here. The owner is super friendly, but the lady on the phone wasn't. I guess she was busy, but she pretty much yelled at us over the phone telling us she's busy and hung up on us. Another thing is that they're actually a traveling food truck, so always tune in to their Facebook to see where they are next, and call them before you head there. Found the truck this time at the Fort Myers Brewery SummerFest, though Doner Kebab can be found throughout town at breweries, farmers markets, and businesses in Gateway through the week. This time around I ordered my go-to: the Classic Gyro. This dish uses pita break instead of the traditional Turkish Bread found in the Doner Kebab. Basically, the pita is less bread! The gyro is stuffed full with their incredible gyro meat, fresh toppings, and their equally delicious yogurt sauce. This is plenty of food for me, but their fries are always a nice addition to munch on. Ask for feta on top if you're feeling adventurous! Always appreciate their speed at preparing the food. Sometime when I feel like straying from the usual, I'd love to try their Gyro Quesadilla. Love this staple in the Ft. Myers food truck scene. read more

My husband and I love kebab. We have been to a lot of different places and let's just say Karl is King for a reason. It's the most authentic kebab I've had in a long time. Oufff! So delicious! What a great and hearty food truck. First things first, their menu is so easy to read. They serve good and quick and easy food and put together right in front of you. Their prices are very reasonable and might I add that their portions are pretty big. I had their traditional gyro on this huge fresh pita bread, filled with gyro meat, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese and yummy tzatziki sauce. They give you a fork and lots of napkins since it can be messy ( for good reasons) but if you have not yet stopped by their truck, I would encourage you to do so! So worth the try. read more

Definitely an interesting version of kebab. More authentic than your typical wrap or gyro you get in Austin. Bread has a Cubano taste and tons of meat direct from a spinning rotisserie. Fresh veggies and just overly filling sandwich. Chicken. Was star but beef was fine as well. Wish they had lamb on the toaster but no go. They did have some other dishes that are more Greek and bowls if you want that but I'd stick to doner to have the closest thing to authentic you'll get in the area. No spicy red sauce so not quite there, but tasty nonetheless for about $10. Lots of seats and easy access in and out. Grubhub as well though not sure how this will deliver as it was already dripping a bit from the sauce when I got it onsite. read more

Fantastic! This is a food truck, and they come to the farmer's market downtown every Thursday. They make a classic doner kebab on warm Turkish bread, with a delicious yogurt sauce. I lived in Europe for a while where kebabs are very popular, and I just love having this here! They're really authentic! This past Thursday, he had a special with gyro meat mixed into a risotto. It came with a cranberry dressing, but I didn't want that, so he made it how I wanted it! It was AMAZING. I had high hopes for this place, hoping it would at least fill the gap created by the loss of Verts. I got the doner kebab, and I asked for no mayo or aioli--it's just not my thing. The owner proceeded to ask me if I was certain I didn't want mayo, and I repeated the request a few times until he stopped and went to prepare my food. When my food arrived, it had mayo in it, and a lot of it. Honestly, it felt insulting and lazy, and I begrudgingly cleaned off the mayo and finished it because it was over $10. It also revealed why he adds the mayo--the meat was dry. The flavor wasn't there regardless of moisture, too. I would have left this review at three stars, but after kindly repeating myself several times requesting no mayo and getting it anyway, I'm going to leave it at two stars. The kebab was just ok. Sauce was good and the meat was decent but the bread was stale (toasty but stale) and the cheap shredded lettuce which was possibly turning overpowered everything. I will probably try the place again but keep my fingers crossed and hope for toasty, fresh bread. read more

Been from Germany, and grown up with friends from Turkey, I can say this food (specially the Doener) is as good and delicious as it can be. The meat is authentic and the sauce is very good. If you want to compare it, you have to go to Germany (which has a big population of people from Turkey) or you have to go directly to Turkey.
