The food is consistently good and the staff is very friendly. I come here pretty frequently since they have the only meatballs I like.

Pretty solid Mediterranean food and some of the best we have found since moving to Austin. The first time we tried, the store was completely empty and we were a bit hesitant to go inside... but grateful we did! You can dine or take with you and the first time, we ate in. We just went for the basics with Gyro sandwiches (one lamb and one chicken). And for a side, we had fries and shared a piece of the baklava for desert. The sandwiches were pretty delicious and definitely fresh. I read on another review they felt the meat was a bit dry and I would agree. It was tasty but the meat could have been a bit juicier. The sandwiches certainly came with an ample amount of meat. We ordered them loaded, but they fixings seemed to be lacking a bit. The lettuce and tomato weren't as fresh as I was expecting and surprisingly, just a little bit of red onion. And their tzatziki sauce was good, but again, I've had better. The fries were hot and fresh and not greasy at all. The baklava was epic! Overall, we were very satisfied and so much so... the next day we went back to try some other items. This time we ordered the spanakopita, hummus, and decided to try another Gyro sandwich with lamb. For starters, the spanakopita was some of the BEST I've ever had! The pastry was very flaky and the spinach & cheese were amazing. This was warm, fresh and again, some of the best I've ever had. But when it came to the hummus, we didn't even eat it. We both tried and it wasn't bad... but this isn't hummus I would order. It was kind of bland for hummus. And the Gyro sandwich this day was really no different than the previous day. It's tasty but not the best I've ever had and still agree with the other person that the meat is somewhat dry. And again, the toppings/fixings (tomato, onion, sauce) are not very fresh and they use them sparingly. This is a good place and pretty authentic. The prices are very decent and a nice little place.

MEAL: Lunch ORDER TYPE: Dine-in EST.: 2005 MY ORDER EXPERIENCE I am not a great fan of Mediterranean cuisine, but based on my friend's suggestion, I went to try this place, as he eats there almost 4-5 times a week. The restaurant was cute and spacious. They had both indoor and outdoor patio seating. They also had booth seating options available. The place was quiet and peaceful, which gave it a different vibe. I love the concept of being able to pick and choose from varied vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options. I was surprised by their options. I ordered a Veggie Plate which came with Choice of Protein, Soup or Salad, Any Three Sides and Pita Bread for only $10.99, which was a deal. And if you order any extra side then that would be $2.50 each, so I would suggest anyone Make Your Own Plate. For my Veggie Plate, I ordered the following: Rice Tzadziki Soup: Lentil Soup - RECOMMENDED Lentil Soup reminded me of Indian Dal Tadka and tasted great. It tasted great when combined with rice. Sides: Falafel I had Falafel balls previously, but these were in a different shape, which tasted good. Spanakopita - RECOMMENDED This dish reminded me of Indian Samosas. Spanakopita was flaky and stuffed with spinach and cheese. It tasted super good. Pasta I ordered pasta thinking it would taste like traditional cheese pasta, but I was not impressed with it. Pita Bread The Pita Bread looked soft and fresh. We picked up our order and dined on the patio. The food was good, with fast service. The rice and lentil soup combination was the best. The staff were patient and explained the different dishes, as it was my first time trying Greek food. The prices were super reasonable. They also had validated parking. They also have rewards programs. There is solid Mediterranean food in the Austin area. Besides this location, they also have two other locations.

Yummy fresh and fast food. BIG portions and great prices! Staff was friendly and helpful since it was my first time here. Place looks clean and kept up.

    Backspace and Gyro

Greek is my favorite quick sit down meal and Tino's deserves 5 stars. Great Gyro followed with an amazing Backlava. Mmm mm mm. We will be back for sure.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had been transported to a little taverna on a Greek island. The crisp white walls, iconic blue window frames and shutters, and charming atmosphere immediately set the tone. Even more impressive was the hospitality. From the hostess to our server, and even the owner stopping by our table, everyone embodied the warm, welcoming Greek hospitality I grew up with. The appetizer menu was so tempting that we wished we had ten stomachs. We settled on the octopus, spanakopita, saganaki, keftedes, and a horiatiki salad, and I'm so glad we did. The octopus was cooked perfectly, tender and seasoned with excellence. The spanakopita was beautifully flaky with a satisfying crunch, and the filling was rich and flavorful. The tzatziki was incredibly fresh and honestly some of the best I've had in a long time. The biggest surprise of the night was the saganaki served with fig jam. I never would have thought those flavors belonged together, but they absolutely did. It was a standout dish. The keftedes were also fantastic, juicy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. For our entrées, we ordered the pastitsio, gouvetsi, and chicken souvlaki. While the appetizers truly stole the show, the main courses didn't quite reach the same level. We did arrive close to closing time, so that may have played a role. The pastitsio had great flavor overall, and the béchamel was beautifully prepared, but some of the pasta was a bit firm, and I personally would have loved a touch more cinnamon. The gouvetsi had excellent texture, but it was a little too salty for my taste, but that didn't stop my daughter from devouring it. The chicken souvlaki was unfortunately on the dry side and a bit tough. Even with those minor disappointments, I'd absolutely return. The menu is filled with so many traditional Greek comfort foods that I'd love to come back and explore more of what they have to offer. The appetizers alone are worth the visit, and the atmosphere and genuine hospitality made the experience feel like a little taste of Greece right here in Austin. If you're looking for authentic Greek flavors, a beautiful setting, and genuine (Greek hospitality), Yamas is definitely worth adding to your Austin dining list.

Then, to get drinks or even the order was a problem. It took so much longer than usual. Our waitress was rude, and seemed bothered that we showed up. Then someone else came as the waitress and she was preoccupied with other tables and barely checked on us. A regular lunch which would've been one hour became almost two because of the lack of service. It's one of those places that's reliable and feels pretty consistent, knowing you're going to leave happy and full after eating here. The two times we've been there, theres always plenty of seating and are able to walk right in. It's a walk in and seat yourself experience and then you pay upon leaving. The staff keeps the dining area and buffet line consistently stocked and clean. They even provide hand sanitizer and gloves for you. Even when foot traffic picked up while we were there, the food was replenished quickly and didn't look picked over. Now let's talk food...Everything tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and like it was made with care instead of just being "buffet food" an under seasoned. The variety is also amazing, and it's easy to build a plate for pretty much any type of diet whether you're keto, high protein, balanced, veggie-forward, vegan, etc... Some of our favorite dishes we keep coming back for: Shredded beef (SO good), Baked fish (tender and not fishy), Garlic baked chicken (wonderful crispy skin), Fried chicken, Baked kafta, Kafta kebab, Gyro meat, Roasted cauliflower, Eggplant, Greek salad, Fatoush, Kale Caesar salad, Zaatar pizza, Cheese pizza (pro tip: top it with shredded beef- a life changing buffet hack), Rice with lentils, Rice with mixed veggies. For the quality, variety and amount of food you get, this is easily one of the best deals in the city! It's rare to find a buffet that's both affordable and consistently this good! If I had one small wish, it would be for desserts to match how strong the rest of the food is. They're not bad, just a little more "fine" compared to how amazing everything else is. I've seen another Dimassi's (I think in Cali) that had a frozen yogurt machine and I'd LOVE to see that here because it would be the perfect finish! Make a cup and then crumble up some baklava on it! Overall we've LOVED it here and we'll absolutely keep coming back! Great food, clean, consistent, and worth it every time!

Between me, my husband, and my mom, we have a lot of overlap in what we like to eat, but we also have some pretty distinct preferences, and Demassi's is one of those places where that works. My husband really loves Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food. I generally do not. I tend to find the meats too dry, I don't particularly like the spice profile, and I also find a lot of dishes in that category to be overly sour. It's hard to explain, but there's often a sharp, tangy acidity that I don't enjoy. For whatever reason, I don't have that issue at Demassi's at all. Here my husband can get his fix of dry, spiced meats, while I'm happy eating from the huge selection of rice dishes, cooked veggies, and soups. As far as protein goes, I actually really like the fish here, so I almost never eat the meat and still leave satisfied. It usually feels like a healthy pescatarian day for me, which I like. Then there's my mom, who just loves the abundance and variety of a buffet. She's happiest when she can sample a little bit of everything, build plates with lots of small bites, and then go back for more. Demassi's is perfect for that. On top of all of this, it's very reasonably priced, especially for lunch or on weeknights. It's always clean, the staff is consistently courteous, and they are really on top of bussing tables, which matters a lot to me at a buffet. Dirty dishes piling up are never an issue here. Overall, it's a solid, reliable spot for us and a place we're always happy to suggest when we're trying to please multiple people with different tastes.

We spent around $600 with tip and fees for 5 (mixed grill, two apps, two drinks each); and while the food was delicious the meats were luke warm not piping hot, our server while very friendly was not the best at giving suggestions (basically she said everything is good lol) and wasn't able to split the check 2/3 and 1/3 instead of 50/50 ("... I don't know how to do that"), and the cocktails while tasty didn't really feel special enough to be $21-25 each. It was a very enjoyable experience I just don't know that it lived up to the price tag. For that price I'm looking for exceptional not just very good. That being said the food was delicious! Pricey but pretty good portions. The server said the mixed grill was good for around 4 people, but with two apps it was actually a little too much food for the 5 of us. Mixed grill ($220): -Rosewood Wagyu Strip and Lamb Chops: tie between these two for the best dish; they were both juicy and tender and the sauces were delicious. Not served piping hot but they were so good I didn't really mind. -Harissa Marinated Beef Tenderloin: great flavor- a tad dry. -Spiced Lamb Kefta: also dry, I liked it best with the yogurt sauce. -Red Pepper Chicken Thigh: delicious, one of my fav kabobs. -Herb & Garlic Shrimp: tasty and not overcooked -Charred King Trumpet mushroom: loved the veggie option! they mushrooms were substantial and the sauce was great. -Crispy Shallot Hummus: very good- loved the crispy shallots in particular! -Manti Dumplings: top app- I would 100% order this again the dumplings were delicious and the sauce/yogurt on top of them was the best, we wiped up every drop with the pitas! -The pita bread was hot, fresh, and delicious and our service kept on offering more, so I don't know if they've changed their policy but my experience was not the same as reviews that said only one pita per person. We refused extra pitas 3 times I think! Cocktails- everything we tried was quite good, but again there wasn't the pizaz or just 'blown away by the flavor' to feel that the crazy price was totally justified. We tried: Spanish G&T (very refreshing- don't chew on the juniper berries lol), Banana Bread Old Fashioned (pretty good even for someone who doesn't much like whiskey!), Bonfire on a Beach (fun, smokey, love the harissa on the side), Peach Martini (teensy bit sweet for me but good). The manager stopped by a few times to check on us and our server was very attentive. She did give us good service its just for the high price I would expect some more detailed suggestions on drinks, being able to split the check other than 50/50 (or at least ask someone instead of just saying 'I don't know how'). It was friendly and enthusiastic service just not 'wow this truly is fine dining' service. Outside of the restaurant, parking is a bit of a pain but that is normal for down town. We parked at the Laz garage half a block away- $8 for 2 hrs instead of the $27 for valet.

In Austin visiting and being from Buffalo and having a Greek family I wanted to get some Greek…read morefood. No Yia Yia around so I had to go out and find a place. Well after looking at several restaurants on yelp I found that most restaurants were Mediterranean but more middle eastern than Greek. Until I saw Opa. Well my wife and I gave it a shot. And we were pretty well pleased. We had a Greek salad where all the ingredients were super fresh with a nice pita bread and a grape leaf and a 2 nice pieces of feta. I also had a chicken gyro. Again all super fresh veggies filled the pita wrap and very tasty chicken. They had outdoor seating for our dog who was our dinner guest. But you have to order inside. Which I did. The person who took the order was busy but did a great job. We asked for a couple of large glasses of water with lemon and she promptly took care of us. There were small glasses out on the table but we wanted large ones cus we didn't want to keep walking inside. No problem. Food arrived after a short while and was delicious. They have a nice parking lot however getting in and out can be a little bit crazy when you have everyone from Austin rushing home. Had to wait a long time to get to exit the parking lot cus not one Texan driver would give us a break and let me in the exit lane. Next time I see a Texas license plate in New York I will remember that. But I will still give them a break.

Parking was a bit of a challenge but was able to park on the curb out front. Once inside, we placed our order at the counter and pre-paid and were given a number. They have an extensive menu with traditional Greek dishes and all-day breakfast options. As well as a full bar offering aromatic coffee, hand-crafted cocktails, fine wine, and a selection of local and international beers. The restaurant was busy we were able to place our order in a timely fashion. I opted for a cocktail along with lentils and rice and added chicken as the protein. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. After ordering, we sat outside in the most cozy and intimate outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, after waiting 30+ minutes, we never received our food. When we checked at the counter, the interaction felt pretty condescending, staff insisted the order had already been brought out even though we never received it and still had our number with us. At that point we had to cancel the order so we wouldn't miss our show. I do appreciate that they offered a full refund without issue, but overall the experience left us disappointed, especially with how the situation was handled.

The waitstaff were extremely attentive and welcoming--two men and one woman--and made us feel comfortable right away. One of the male servers took the time to walk us through much of the menu, thoughtfully explaining the different dishes, which we really appreciated. We started with a shareable appetizer: the pick-three dips with pita. The portion came with plenty of pita, and we chose the eggplant dip, a split pea-based dip, and a whipped potato dip. While all were good, the whipped potato dip was my favorite--it was unique and especially delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the vegetable skewer. The presentation was beautiful, and the dish was very flavorful. It also came with pickled vegetables, which added a nice balance. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish that was more stew-like; he mentioned the tomatoes tasted very fresh and really enjoyed it. Overall, the meal was filling, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be coming back.
