Thanks to BeyondTheCovers.HTX, I was introduced to this gem of a coffee & doughtnut shop that hosted a cutesy, pink-themed book swap! Reason enough for me to venture to East Houston; what I found was a quaint and welcoming coffee cornerstone full of all kinds of doughnuts, croissants, caffeine flavors, kolaches and even nostalgic cheese danishes that left my heart content as ever. At an affordable price, at that. The Book Club Donita 's-themed tote was the froth on top of my cheesecake + almond milk iced latte :) This Saturday morning stop was worth the few circles I made around the block to find parking. read more

I'd been hearing the whispers--Donita's Donuts in Houston is where the real donut lovers go. I finally made the trip, and before I even tasted a crumb, the place had me smiling. You can't miss it off the highway with its giant pink, Springfield-style donut sign--straight out of The Simpsons--and as you drive up on the feeder, you're greeted by a massive Homer Simpson mural grinning from the back wall. The whole place has this playful, slightly flashy vibe, balanced by its adorable abuelita theme. The merch, décor, and even the coffee cups feature "Donita," giving the shop a warm, family-style heartbeat beneath all the fun. I went all in: an assorted dozen (variety is a must), a coffee, and the real reason I came--the apple fritter. The fritter is my universal donut test. If you nail the fritter, you can do anything. This one? Large and thin, with a crisp, golden exterior that gave way to a fluffy, apple-packed interior. The edges had that almost-burnt caramelization that gave it a smoky sweetness. If it had been cooked just a touch less, it would be right up there with the best fritters I've ever had. Still, a serious contender--and I'll be back to see if round two takes it to legendary status. The assorted dozen I got for the office didn't miss either. Glaring reviews all around. Each donut fresh, soft, and generously glazed or powdered. And the coffee? Simple, hot, and served in a cup that reminded me of my Memaw Juanita. Donita's may be under the radar for now, but between the flashy curb appeal, the great service, the abuelita-infused charm, and the solid donut game, it's only a matter of time before this spot blows up. read more

Donita's Donuts is the true definition of a hidden gem. I only found out about this place through a friend who lives in the area. It is located in the Denver Harbor area which is not a part of town I am in very often. It's right off the highway and hard to miss with the giant pink donut sign out front. If you're a Simpsons fan, you will recognize this donut as well as the huge Homer mural on the side of the building. They converted an old gas station into a donut shop so there is alot of charm here. The staff inside wear these cute uniforms and are friendly as can be. As far as a donut shop goes, they got all the essentials. They have all the styles of donuts from glazed, iced, bars, rolls, filled, cake and old fashioned. When it comes to donuts, my weakness is apple fritters. I read a review that said Donita's fritter is almost legendary so I had to try it. It's up there as one of the better ones in the city. I have not had a regular donut here yet as I gotta practice some restraint. They also have breakfast items like croissants and kolaches but in many different varieties. I am always going to pick savory over sweet so kolaches and breakfast sandwiches are some of my favorite things. My friend put me on the Everything Croissant. It's hands down the best thing they got. Somehow, they stuffed a flaky, buttery croissant with a huge breakfast sausage patty, bacon, eggs and cheese. It's hefty and has some weight to it. It's all my favorite things in one of the most indulgent vessels of bread. You can't go wrong with it. I also heard the kolaches are really good. If you are thirsty, they got nice variety of options like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccino, lattes, etc. It's a shame this place is so far from me. It's also probably a very good thing. I hope this place gets some more recognition because it is really a great spot. I will definitely be back when in the area. read more

Wanted to make a pit stop because I'm never on this side of town. The cute shop with a decorated exterior and interior is the place to quickly grab your donut and go. The donuts were superb, I'm partial to powdered sugar donuts, they were light and fluffy and not at all dense which I prefer. The coffee was normal and as you expect. And the ladies helping me were nice although a language barrier I had no problem getting what I want. read more

Stopped by with my hubby yesterday omw to my parents to give them some doughnuts we were craving something sweet and are so glad we came here! The ladies are so nice and make the best capuchino real good for the price too!! What a wonderful surprise to get off the highway and see this repurposed gas station be a donut shop!!! The ladies have the cutest uniforms, and the service is fast and efficient. It's a small spot to walk into, but the selections are all delicious! I can't wait to be assigned that way again so I can swoop on by one more time! read more

Donita's is a cute little pink girly spot, it is so freaking adorable and the ladies working inside are wearing the cutest uniforms! Immediately as we walked in we were greeted with a smile which made me feel welcomed. I asked for a minute while I looked over all the yummy options. I'm so disappointed in the two workers on staff on May 25, 2025 at 315pm. My daughter's stomach started to hurt while we were ordering and I asked if my daughter could use the restroom and they said no. Then they gave me an iced coffee that I added a Splenda to. When I put the top on the entire cup collapsed and coffee went spilling onto me, my shirt, the counter, and floor. I looked up at the two workers and apologized asking for napkins so that I can wipe up my mess. They commented something to each other and had a smirk on their face while I was asking for help. They weren't handing me napkins or making any kind of effort to help. My heart was broken. My daughter who didn't feel well was trying to help me clean up while the 2 workers just stared at us. I had to ask for another cup to transfer what was left of my coffee into it. They didn't say a thing to us. I don't understand the behavior. I came here because I saw someones post on insta and wanted to support a family owned Houston buisness and treat my girls. I'm so disappointed. Great Customer service is everything to a buisness and you all failed in this department. I pray you find workers who want to be there and promote your family owned buisness. read more

Donita's donuts is a convenient donut shop and former gas station, located just off of I-10 and Wayside. I was able to join in for their grand opening and they did not disappoint! From beautiful outside murals for fun photo ops to their fun neon signs & colorful aesthetic, Donita's is an incredible place to stop by for a sweet treat or a quick cup of joe! Their customer service is also exceptional and fast, I went in for few blueberry cake donuts, kolaches & an oat milk latte & received the donuts/kolaches instantly and only waited a few minutes for the latte. The donut was nice and cakey with just the right amount of sweetness from the blueberry & the kolache bread was fluffy and fresh without being too thick! The latte was delicious, creamy & flavorful! The building it self is so eye catching and I had to stop!!! I got the bacon sausage and egg kolache... it was so good!!! The bread was so soft and croissant like. I should have gotten more! Also had some donut holes, so great. I will be back again. They have a full espresso machine and I wanted to try a coffee, but it was later in the evening. Will be back for sure! read more

Even being one of the only two in the shop, i felt rushed to order as soon as I walked in. It was my first time there so I didn't know the menu or what I wanted just yet. The younger cashier was staring at me the whole time, making me feel like i needed to be ready so I decided to just start ordering. I asked her if they had chocolate filled donuts to add to my order, and a chocolate milk (among other things). We had a language barrier but even pointing out the donuts i wanted, and after completing my order I realize she didnt charge me for the donuts I asked for. I got back in line with the other Lady, and was able to get my donuts but still without any feeling of welcome. I came to to this place due to the great things i've heard but, i honestly don't even want to go back. Maybe if it was last resort. Food and iced latte werent the most amazing, just average and definitely not worth the experience. read more

After driving past the cute design so many times I was excited to hear that they had finally opened. I didn't go in but my dad did picked us up some donuts on his way home. We got glazed donut holes, glazed donuts and Bavarian crème donuts. I tried each one and can say they were pretty good! Hope to stop there myself to check it out. read more

I had been wanting to try this place out and I finally did today. Donuts were ok and so was the ham and cheese croissant. When I walked in, I saw a fancy espresso machine and got excited! I ordered a cappuccino and paid. Then the young lady went to a machine like the one in the gas station and dispensed my cappuccino. I asked if they made espresso drinks or if the fancy espresso machine was just for decoration and she said they only used it for cold coffees. Go figure I would not have ordered my drink if I knew this so I walked away with my gas station cappuccino that did not taste like coffee at all. read more
