It can get a little bready and hard to cut or pull apart, but tasty. In the afternoon, they freshly glaze your donut, which is good and bad. Fresh donut and fresh glaze mean the glaze can weep. What a great experience this morning! I was thinking about these doughnuts since last night haha! And I got up super early just to make in. Theres a good bit of parking so I don't see it getting crowded unless hot wox or the other place are all opened all at the same time. I wish they had a drive thru, but it would probably be out to the street lol. Anyway! The ladies at the front were all smiles and they talked so softly which was nice because it was like 7a. Had a really good first impression at their Greenway location with the very upscale interior and clean environment. Their Heights location is on Yale in a small shopping plaza and tucked away in the corner. The interior felt a bit messy and it was also kind of warm for some reason; there's a lot of sunlight and glare inside that makes it unenjoyable to dine in. We came in the afternoon so there were no ready made donuts on the racks; we actually thought that the freshly made / made to order donuts would be a plus. Personally, I think their donuts taste better cold/ room temperature rather than hot out of the fryer. Overall, the experience felt a bit more amateurish and that, along with the hot donuts tasting good, but not great, detracted a bit from the snack. Wowwwww! This place definitely met the expectations of the way it has been hyped up on social media. I feel like that's hard to find in Houston. I went around 2 and was sad to see a nearly empty display case but I figured it was because of the time I visited but they made my day when I was told any of their doughnuts can be made fresh based on their menu. They are more like a cronut (cross between a donut and croissant) but I'm not complaining at all. The cafe sua da doughnut tasted like I was drinking a traditional cup of Vietnamese coffee. I highly recommend it! The blueberry lemon was great too but would have been perfect with either a strong lemon flavor or fresh lemon zest on top. Y'all know I like a place with parking and theres plenty of it in the lot and on the side street. A layered doughnut, strawberry glaze, whipped cream, fresh strawberries on top. Sounds like a dream, right? Wrong. It was basically a plain doughnut playing dress up in the produce aisle. Then came the avocado toast. Listen... as soon as I saw it, I knew I was going to be annoyed. Instead of that fresh, chunky smashed avocado, it was some sort of mystery green spread. I first discovered Parlor Donuts in Indiana, where it all began, and was immediately impressed by their crispy outer shell and fluffy center. Wanting to introduce Parlor to out of town friends, I picked up a box of minis and five full-sized donuts: The King, Vietnamese Coffee, raspberry pistachio, campfire, and maple bacon. At first glance, they looked great. However, both my husband and I found the donuts to be quite doughy, lacking the flaky texture typically associated with layered donuts. Our friends also didn't quite care for them. Given the $4 price tag per donut and the branding as small-batch craft donuts, we expected a higher standard, especially compared to places like Shipley and Krispy Kreme. Additionally, we found the toppings to be overly sweet for our taste. We also noticed that the raspberry pistachio donut seemed noticeably smaller than the others (see picture). We were all somewhat disappointed. The minis weren't crispy either. It had been almost nine months since our last visit to this location, and it seems the quality may have declined. Considering the 30-minute drive to get them, it was a letdown. The doughnuts in general are very thick/tall. the exterior is a bit crunchy chewy and inside is airy, similar to a croissant. They are larger than average and cost about $4 each. We tried the Turtle cheesecake and the chocolate chocolate. Both were a bit to sweet for me. with the turtle being way over the sugar line. In general they were high quality, but after bite of each I was kind of over them. I did have some coffee to balance the sweetness and that helped. My biggest takeaway was they are more of a novelty treat and not an every day go to. If you are in the area I say give them a try, but I would not go out of my way for them. read more

I really hate when I find out about these places.... I can never lose weight because I love food just a little bit too much. Not sure if they call it the cronut, but that's essentially what this - a flaky donut that pretty much almost looks like and tastes like a croissant. It looks like the base is pretty much the same and they add toppings depending on the order. These are made to order (not baked to order) so expect to wait a bit for them to prep. I think we wanted at least 10 minutes and there was no one ahead of us. There is the option to order online so you don't have to wait. The only thing I wasn't a fan of were the minis. I only tried the raspberry filled (way too much powdered sugar), cinnamon sugar and apple. The apple one was my favorite, but I believe it is seasonal. Be sure to try the seasonal flavors! Parlor Doughnuts made it into the Houston scene almost a year ago and in usual Justin fashion, I let the hype die down and came and checked it out recently. We left breakfast nearby still kind of hungry and decided to get something sweet to take home. Parlor Doughnuts is in a shopping strip with other businesses. Be careful where you park because some spots are specific to certain businesses. I like the look of the place with tile all over the place. The space itself is large, but the restaurant work space takes up most of the main dining room, along with a kitchen in the back. Seating is limited, so be ready to pounce on a seat when they open up. Customer service was cool, not much interaction with the friendly folks behind the counter. Service was slow from the time of ordering to the time to get what we ordered. I found that kind of odd considering the cases were full of donuts. They do make small batches throughout the day. You are not getting your typical yeast or cake donuts here. What you get here is layered donuts. It's different. The debate is if it's a cronut or not. I've had cronuts and I would say the consistency of the donuts are pretty similar. I think they were a little more airy to me than a cronut. There were so many good looking donuts to choose from. They have their mainstays, but they also have seasonal items. The ones that caught my attention immediately was the Sandy Beach and Cookies 'n' Cream. The Sandy Beach had "tastes like a cinnamon roll" under the name and I knew that was the one for me. I'm a sucker for a cinnamon roll and to get it in donut form seemed like a great idea. This donut was absolutely delicious. The donuts are huge. Upon first bite you get a slightly crisp exterior but inside it's super light and airy. I can see the cinnamon roll flavor comparison to be accurate. I wish it had just a tad bit more of a cinnamon punch to it. The Cookies 'n' Cream was tasty too. I like that both donuts weren't overly sweet. It paired well with my iced vanilla latte that I got. Parlor is definitely up there as one of the better donut options in the city. Super cute space inside and reasonably priced donuts! These donuts are more of a flaky croissant consistency, which is a nice change to traditional ones. I was expecting them to be filled inside but it seems to just be on the topping. We ordered two different flavors, the cookies and cream and the cheesecake turtle.
