Just went here for friends Bday sat night. This bar is a little bit further east than what I'm use to but is def fun bar. Not as packed as Fat baby and such. Prices are standard for LES. Nice pub feel with communal wooden tables. Dj was legit though not lota room for dancing and such. Bartenders were quick and attentive and quite generous. The bartenders four friends came in at 430p on a Sunday (two of them already wasted wearing "Sunday Suits") they proceeded to yell talk at each other while doing shots subsequently clearing the remaining normal people and ourselves out of the bar. (Within 10 minutes of them arriving everyone finished their drinks or didn't even order and left.) before leaving the bartender was doing her makeup in a mirror by the bar and one of the friends went to throw up downstairs in the bathroom. What a place!!!! Hit a bakery down the street and after, while there was rain, stopped and had a pint. Flight delayed and had drinks with Graham and Natalie. Awesome!!! I planned a 30th surprise party for my wife at Donnybrook and they were incredibly helpful and so easy to work with throughout the planning process. Some other perks were that they do not require a minimum and they allow catered food. They gave us a nice area in the back of the bar with no trouble getting drinks, lots of space to dance and hang out. While the space was not separated from the rest of the bar, we still managed to keep a nice sized area just for our party without any interruptions. Great place in general- good music, good drink selections, highly recommended for a party or just to hang. read more

Great bar for the pretentious "sport fan" who is obligated to know something about the sports game presently on the tv behind him, but doesn't actually give a dime. Because if he did he would have gone to a bar that didn't play nostalgic 90's music, but one that actually has the broadcaster's play by play. I came here on a Tuesday night, and the bar was nicely quiet. They have a good range of interesting cocktails and bar food. Service was exceptionally prompt, which probably explained why I had as many drinks as I did. I tried the crabcakes and the fries, both were decently tasty but I was also quite hungry so I wasn't discriminating too much. Overall, a nice neighborhood joint to watch sports if you're into that sorta thing. read more

The only difference between this and a bar I would actually like now, in my old age, is that Donnybrook started cranking up the old school music towards the end of the night, so that our ears rang and throats were sore by the time we left -- just like every other bar/club in the vicinity catering to young 20-somethings. Other than that, Donnybrook was great, feels like a friendly neighborhood bar. Although the TVs seem out of place, as many are quick to mention, the bar reminded me of many Brooklyn bars with the laid back vibe I so love. And Donnybrook serves pub food, another plus. They were easy to work with to book my birthday gathering, and they comped me a bottle of champagne -- who can argue with that? Drinks were average or reasonably priced for Manhattan and the service was good and friendly. Would I return? It's a decent probability. read more

I guess I didn't drink enough to find this place as fun and attractive as others have claimed. At first, it started out what to be like a sports bar. It was the last playoff game between the Knicks and Pacers and of course, the atmosphere was tense. They even turned off the music during the last few minutes of the 4th quarter to broadcast the game. But when the Knicks lost, the crowd literally dispersed leaving the much needed room for lounging and dancing for other folks like me and my friends who were here to have fun. Solid bar for a quick drink, with suprisingly (refreshingly) few undergrads for an LES bar. They have Shocktop on tap, which is a plus, and the strawberry vodka lemonade is suprisingly delicious for a pub cocktail. Also, the bartender was friendly, and they had good air conditioning as well as the World Cup playing. Nothing fancy, but a good contender if you are looking to grab a drink without having to scream over loud music or huge crowds. read more

Can't say I've ever been here before 1-2 am but I like what goes on here late night! 90's / early 2000's / top 40, you name it, they play it. Went here on a Thursday night after dinner with a friend. Beer list is not very extensive for the lower east side. It is a very typical Irish bar, but at lower east prices. It kind of felt like you were getting fleeced to not have a big variety, but still have high prices. There was a relatively high credit card minimum, which forces you to eat or drink more than you might want to if you don't have cash. It isn't up to par for the neighborhood. It also took a while to get served at the bar, given how few people were there. The bar has an easygoing environment and a pleasant crowd. read more

I reserved tables at Donnybrook for my birthday this past week. That night, while celebrating my birthday, my boyfriend had kindly asked a bartender if she could lower the music while he and my friends sang happy birthday to me. The bartender responded, "No, we don't do that!" It was very upsetting to be treated like that, after having brought many people out to the bar that night. I had asked if there would be any drink specials that night, and I was told that there would be a beer and shot special available for my guests. Kena ignored me when I entered the bar and was off-putting when I tried to order. She was slobbering over someone at the bar the entire time I was there. I watched her ignore others as they walked in as well. I finally got a pot pie ordered, Wish I could I post a pic of the dry-as-a-bone piece of crap that got served in a cardboard 'boat' with plastic fork. This is a great place to get together with your friends for a drink. It's pretty spacious, and has the best bathrooms I've ever seen in an American public venue (it has scandinavian-style private loos). My ONLY issue with Donnybrook is the price of wine and spirits. It's great that Guinness is cheap here, but no one is going to drink a lot of that stuff without gaining a righteous beer belly. I'll continue to patronize this bar (it's right around the corner from my apt), but I'll also be holding out hope that they stop pricing drinks/wine like this is Switzerland. read more

Came here for brunch with a friend - definitely a great deal. 3 drinks (bloody mary, screwdriver or mimosa) are included with the price of your brunch entree. I had the Shepard's Pie which I found flavorful, although a bit greasy (which I kinda loved, who am I kidding?). My friend had the salmon plate and it was a lot of food for the price. We had our recent ABC Club NYC event at Donnybrook. For a smaller bar it has a great layout, tables and seating around the edges leaving a huge space for people to mix and mingle. They seemed to have a good beer selection, everyone there was enjoying a variety of brews, and the bartenders were very friendly and quick about service. The owner was very nice. I spoke with her before I arranged the event and she was very helpful and provided some perks for the group. They do not serve food so if you're looking for a place to grab a bite this is not the place. They do however have take-our menus and you can order delivery to the bar. I would definitely return to this LES bar. I enjoyed my night there and the prices were reasonable for NYC. read more

As someone who has lived in the East Village and now the Lower East Side for the last nine years, this is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's the only Irish bar in the vicinity. I have been to the place a million times and am really surprised to see any negative reviews at all. What's great about Donnybrook is that it is anything but pretentious. In fact, one bartender said to me that was something that Donnybrook had that Lotus also had-they were/are both "neighborhood" spots. Ask what the Happy Hour Specials in Donnybrook are and you will get a great response-some of the best specials in the Lower East Side. The table set up is great too; the long tables really encourage people to be social. A signature of downtown living is that bars are actually open to everyone. You can have a pint next to a construction worker just as easily as a Wall Street businessman or a 20-something hipster. Donnybrook is no exception to this rule. Donnybrook is exactly what the neighborhood needs. The bartenders are folks who know how to have a chat and know what they're doing when making drinks. My friends and I have always felt welcome-certainly, a recipe for a good neighborhood pub. read more

the donnybrook is the best kept secret, perhaps, ever. you will not just be pleasantly surprised, I would wager that you stay beyond what your time limits were originally. This is an extraordinarily presented venue. Cannot imagine how many visitors wish to gain the employ of their staff..ie; steal/lure them to their own businesses. Think I'm kidding?
