He kindly fit me in to get the job done before last week's rain hit--and not only did he do it in record time, he did a fantastic job, leveling the hard ground perfectly and fitting the uneven bricks together in a beautiful vintage look, creating a very nice pathway that is even, solid and secure underfoot. He went above and beyond, too: Even though I didn't think to ask, John added two very useful details (at no extra charge) that showed his extreme attention to detail and professionalism: He lined the sides of the pathway with small rocks to improve drainage (which worked like a charm in last week's rainstorm), and he curved the pathway to prevent me from conking my head on the protruding swamp cooler (which I've done too often--no more now!). And to top things off, because he got the job done so quickly, he charged me 30% less than his original (very reasonable) estimate! John Friendly not only lives up to his name, he does an fantastic job with extreme expertise AND extreme honesty. I paid…read morethese guys $6,700 to install 240ft of 6ft tall chain link fence and they took every shortcut they could: 1. The fence is a crooked as a snake. You can clearly tell that they did not follow a string line when placing each post and they had it easy b/c the property corners were marked by a surveyor and they still couldn't get it somewhat straight. Some of the posts are 1ft away from the property line and some 2inches away and some actually over the property line. 2. As i fixed some of the posts, i found that the posts are much shallower than 2ft in the ground. Also, they used an obnoxiously excessive amount of concrete for each post. 3. I can't put chain link privacy slats up b/c they decided to use the cheapest line posts and place them 10ft from each other and some more than 10ft! I had 2 other fence contractors give me estimates for other things and they told me DO NOT put privacy slats in b/c of the poor installation by these guys (the line posts will fold over over time due to wind load). 4. They did not install tension wire at the bottom which is probably a reason why they decided to cut the tops off each post and jam the bottom of the fence fabric into the ground. 5. Fence fabric sags below top rail and some is way above the top rail and is overall inconsistent. 6. They used the least amount of hardware they could use. 7. They poured concrete over one of the property corners marked by the surveyor (AKA the monument) but i was able to uncover it before it dried. 8. On one terminal post, instead of stretching and fastening the fence fabric to the terminal post correctly using the tension bands, they over stretched it and attached it to the neighbors fence and stretched it by hanging it on nails. I knew i should not have trusted these hacks b/c prior to this, they fixed some dry rot and i told them to use primer before painting and they did not and decided to waste an excessive amount of coats of good quality paint that wont last as long as just using 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint. I learned of these problems b/c i learned how to install chain link fence myself elsewhere on my property by watching youtube.

He also repaired my sagging gutter, unclogged the downspouts, and cleaned all the gutters. I had him come by one more time and he replaced a broken flange mount for our toilet and replaced the flapper inside it. He also repaired a broken drain pipe on our bathroom sink and a broken faucet handle. He even saw a new shower head we had bought and asked if we wanted it installed! He goes above and beyond and does excellent work. I'm so glad we found him! We definitely will be calling him for more jobs we've already discussed! I can't recommend him highly enough!!!
