Amazing real Donut Shop. When you go to a place like this why would you go to a franchised place. The donuts here were delicious and looked good too. The atmosphere was of a nostalgic bakery with indoor seating. I don't drink coffee but the other patrons said they enjoyed it. I am glad while I was in town that I came across the shop

Coconut Cream - I was expecting the cream on the inside to be coconut-flavored cream, but it turned out to be just a regular custard, but still overall this was a solid doughnut. The coconut was more on the outside, where I had coconut-flavored frosting, sprinkled with coconut shreds. Honey Dip - this reminds me of just a solid glazed yeast-raised doughnut, but I did taste a little bit of honey in the glaze (that was the only difference). It was delicious, but I would wanna try other more adventurous flavors next time.

Amazing new discovery! just grabbed a couple for the first time but wow sooooo good. Pillow soft melt in your mouth. Cant wait to come back. The owners daughter is so sweet and welcoming. Cute little spot in the on the corner and the inside gives old school diner inside. The only reason they loose a star is because they need to update their hours online on their website and though Google and other services.

I understand that there are strong opinions about donuts and I am about to weigh in. Donutown is for my money the hands down best in the state. I've tried a lot of places that made rankings and while they are often very good they still come up a little short of being the best. The kicker is that I really can't pinpoint what separates these from the others except for the dough. It's lighter with a satisfying flavor that brings us back. The icings are not as sweet as some shops and I appreciate that since I feel that it's easy to over sweeten and compromise the overall palette. This shop is a little out of my way but I do not hesitate to make a donut run for the family when they ask.

Just the best donuts; especially the crullers. Been coming here for years. Donuts are always fresh, great selection. I always buy several crullers that are perfectly cooked with that slightly doughy interior. Donuts that are filled a filled generously. It appears family owned too.

A dozen doughnuts! 3 chocolates glazed, 3 chocolate, 3 chocolate frosting with sprinkles, and 3 crinkle chocolate frosting doughnuts!

Great local donut shop. Mom and pop type of feel and the donuts taste homemade. This business only accepts cash.

This is a true hidden gem. Went there for the first time after seeing a Facebook post…read more OMG the donuts are delicious. The quality is ao good I had them in the fridge overnight and my family devoured them the next day. They said the taste just as fresh as the day before. The service was top notch. The cashier was very patient with me naming the flavors and pricing. Will definitely be back. If you're ever in the area definitely stop buy. You won't regret it.

I decided to try out this place again since it looks like it's under new ownership, recently?…read more I did come here several years ago and got a variety of donuts. The usual custard with the chocolate frosted top. Almost want try, now that they offer paczki, while available. The first attempt to get donuts was to get some paczki for Fat Tuesday a few months ago, but the box of dozen wasn't much of a savings than buying them individually. Was only $2 save for a box of dozen. Individual paczki $3.50, a dozen for $40. :/ Today I decided to grab a half dozen for our staff at the store. I got a glazed donut, apple fritters, custard with chocolate frosting, cinnamon roll, red velvet and a sour cream donut. Half dozen was $12, that's $2 a donut. Oh my. The apple fritter and the cinnamon roll donuts are rather big, that usually worries me, big donuts doesn't always mean it's better. The apple fritter was crunchy and textured, not mock apples and a lot of dough bumps, which isn't a bad thing. The cinnamon roll was big and billowy, got a big of the cinnamon flavor in the bullseye, but not much hint through the rest of the donut. The sour cream donut wasn't bad, it's not as sour cream or buttermilk flavored as I was hoping. The red velvet and glazed were decent. The custard chocolate was disappointing to me, the custard wasn't as good as I had hoped at all and rather sparse too. All of the donuts are light and fluffy as far as the dough, it's not bad.

Possibly new owners. I entered and was not greeted. I normally pick up a caramel cookie and latte…read more I noticed oddly there were two types of packaging for the cookies and some did not have labels. I asked for assistance since everything was mixed in, this is NOT normal. The lady said everything is label, which I let her know it wasn't and was mixed in. She handed me which possibly was a snickers cookie, it seemed old and hard. I placed that one back and grabbed a softer one. I ordered a caramel macchiato, small. She started making the drink and said she was out of caramel, did I want another flavor? I said sure just do pistachio. The original drink was listed at $4 and the larger $4.50. She rung the drink up as $6. I waited thinking she was going to adjust it, then she asked cash or card? I mentioned the price error. She scoffed that she had to made modifications because they were out of caramel. I told her NOTHING on the menu was $6 and it was a replacement syrup. It was ok, I'll just get the cookie. In a very combative tone she asked, what am I supposed to do with this drink? I shared how I was unfamiliar with their policies. She went on and on about how she made the drink and in her exact words, "I can't explain why it is $6, it just is." At that point I told her I would not be purchasing anything and left. This is a place I enjoyed going to, I wouldn't be surprised if they close soon due to poor service and quality.

Dutch Girl Donuts is more than just a donut shop -- it's a straight-up Detroit institution. If…read moreyou're from here, you already know. That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.

Unfortunately the customer service wasn't as great as I remember. My partner walked in, and there was no greeting and basically no acknowledgment. We used to love calling them in advance so they could be very fresh w/o a wait.

They have that smell/taste! Not just one kind but each one of the ones I purchased. I hope this is just a fluke and also I heated the donut in the microwave because it was a bit hard, like it wasn't freshly made. I thought the donuts were made fresh every day. Also the nice lady with the dark hair had a runny nose. She wiped her nose a couple times and didn't wash her hands. I watched as she filled my order to make sure the drop on the end of her nose didn't drip into my donuts. I think when this happens the employee should wear a mask. She was coughing into her lower arm and I just wanted to walk out at one point. I am hopeful things will not be like today and may try it again but not sure. Super bummed.
