We came to grab some drinks. Put money in the pool table (1.50$) per game. Some old dude (assuming the owner) dumped our freshly racked balls. No warning. Complete tool. We typically go to the RedBarn (such an amazing place) however, Tommy wanted to play pool. I'll never spend money here again. There was a drunk dude with two buckets of beer, stumbling and this man is worried about us playing a 3rd game of pool. If you are closing soon, say so. 845pm and you dump our game. Ambiance is terrible. Both Ruby's and RedBarn deserve your money more. read more

Super cool bar in historic Mandeville on the lakefront. We love the chill vibes on the weekdays but also enjoy the weekends when they have live music. Staff always remembers our drinks the second we walk in without even having to ask. TVs for sports and pool tables when you just feel like hanging out. Never a bad time to visit. read more

Just had one of the weirdest bar experiences I've had in a long time. Went to Donz on the Lake expecting a chill night by the water, but instead ended up dealing with an owner who seemed visibly intoxicated and incredibly hostile toward customers. At one point she came into the place very angry claiming "she is the owner " okay well if you was the owner you'd be proud your customers not allowing random intoxicated strangers walk through side entrance..the WOMAN loudly arguing with people at the bar and making the whole place uncomfortable. I get that bars can get chaotic and everyone has bad nights, but when the person running the place is the one escalating things, it really kills the vibe. Staff looked embarrassed also stating that she does erotic things under the influence constantly, customers were just trying to stay out of the way. The entitlement as an owner was ridiculous. The lakefront view is great, but the atmosphere tonight was the complete opposite of welcoming Hopefully this was just a one-off situation, because no one goes out to relax and ends up watching the owner fight with their own customers. Hoping this was just an off night because the spot has a lot of potential. Just sharing the experience in case management sees it and can improve things for future customers. read more

Younger crowds are not welcome. I am 23 years old and went with a group of friends (who are all well over 21) because we were at Barley Oak and wanted to change scenery. I was ID'ed 3 times within a matter of 10 minutes. Once when I walked in, once when I ordered a drink, and then I got carded again by a strange looking man in an LSU hat and glasses that claimed to be the owner. He walked up to me and my girlfriend very stand offish and asked me how old I was. Whenever I told him my age he turned on his flashlight and made me show him my ID again even though I already had a drink in my hand and told him I was carded twice already. He then proceeded to stare at my friend group from across the bar the whole night until we decided to leave since we didn't seem welcome. He even walked by and grabbed me on my shoulders saying "I'm gonna have to ID you again" seeming to make a joke about the fact that I was confused as to why he was ID'ing me. This place is great aside from the fact that they seem to think that I'm underage and do not belong there every time I go. If you are a younger group and are looking for somewhere to go hangout and have a good time, this is not the place. The "owner" could use a lesson or 2 in good customer service, because quite frankly he sucks :). read more

We started going to Donz in Nov 2023 (we are fairly new to Mandeville) and really loved it! We have gone there a few times since. This past weekend our son turned 22 and he had friends from Indiana visiting for his Bday (ages 21-23). We had barely arrived and had started to order drinks when my son and his friends were harassed by the new (?) owner. They were asked to provide their driver's licenses, which is fine and all of them have valid IDs. This was not good enough for the owner and he demanded to see another form of identification. He was very rude about it. There was a group of us there, with more en route all in our 40s and 50s to celebrate our son's Bday. The owner kicked the 4 youngest of our group out of the establishment, including our son who has been there a couple times before with us without any issues. The new owner discriminated against part of our crew because they are young, albeit of legal age to be there! He didn't ask any of us older patrons for a second form of ID. After attempting to reason with him, we all left and called the rest of our crew to meet up somewhere else! I don't plan to return after how we were treated by the owner. I gave 2 stars because I know the bartenders felt just awful about it and tried to do "damage control". Nothing against the bartenders at all. They have all been nice every time we go there. I noticed the old "blurb" on the info about this place says that a variety of ages from 21+ enjoy this establishment. I will warn you that if you look young, you better have a second form of ID that you are willing to provide to the owner!! read more

Don'z is a dive bar. It is smokey and dirty, but in a good way. Don'z does not pretend to be some fancy high end bar (even though it occupies prime real estate). It is what it is (a real bar) and it ain't what it ain't (a snobby bar). I you want to sit back and sip martinis, go somewhere else. If you want to drink beer, play pool, smoke as much as humanly possible and see some interesting people, this is your place. read more

This is the definition of a dive bar. We left a very fancy spot that was out of control chaos and visited here. While it was very smokey, it was inviting and comfortable. There was a great beer selection. All the bartenders were great. The bathrooms were clean. I'd go back next time I'm in the area. read more

Great staff, so happy to have Donz open. I did not go before they closed but I am a middle aged female and feel both safe and comfortable coming to Donz by myself. I noticed a poor review by someone who appears to have a coffee filter over their dogs face like a Covid mask. So I recommend taking that review for what it is and come check Donz out for yourself. I'm a regular, but after this I may have to find a new bar. Nah I'm good. If your looking for interesting nightlife and like the lakefront vibe you may stumble Into here on any random day of the week. It's my favorite bar on the northshore mainly because of the variety of bar patrons and the staff. Tori aka "Lady" has great energy and always makes for a fun night enjoying an adult beverage. You can play most anything on their "juke box" and pretty much play DJ for the night if you outbid, and I always do. Only thing that could make this place better is if they served food! I'm so down for a Donz crawfish boil! Taco truck just needs to be there more often. Don't forget to stop by, tell them Jen sent you and tip your bartenders well! read more

TRASH. That's all I have to say. The bartender was extremely rude (and that's generous to call her). Me and a few friends ordered a beer and tried to close out as we decided we were going to leave, since you can't breathe surrounded by cigarette smoke. She informed us that the card minimum was $10, would've been nice to know that beforehand, but whatever no big. We all bought another beer, closed out and tipped her. Next day we find that we've all been charged $25 when our bills were around $15 (including tip). Unsure why we were each overcharged $10 when we met the minimum.. the place is trash and the environment sucks also. I can see why the bartender is so miserable. Will never go back. read more

This place is filthy, tacky, and down right unhealthy to be anywhere around. It's a bar of the worst sort - and I really mean that! Real review: OK, so if you can deal with a little smoke (I'm not a smoker but hey, they have rights too!) this is great place to go for a golden frothy beverage after a good run along the lake front. This is a washed up biker type bar probably on it's way out. Meaning, if you're not over 50 or ride a bike, don't expect to feel welcome. I was not greeted with a smile or a hello either time I have walked in. And immediately I feel rushed to order a drink or I am going to be asked to leave. That is one thing I can't stand... when I feel like I'm forced to immediately order a drink right when I walk into a bar. Honestly, I like to feel the bar out to make sure I even want to stay there. And in all actuality, I don't HAVE to order a drink if I don't want to! Also, the air is stale and smokey, with the sketchiest of the sketchy kind of people. Thumbs up for the historical building. It was an army hospital in the Civil War. Now it is a dive bar. The location is A plus right on the lake. Don'z is on the National Historic Register-the building was a doctor's office which was used as a hospital during the Civil War. On Mardi Gras day, there is a parade from Donz to Ruby's Roadhouse (another dive bar about a mile away), one of the oldest roadhouses in the US. read more

I love dive bars so had to go in here when I walked by. It's your typical dive with the appropriate amount of dark and dingy. Got a PBR and bud light which is in line with what you'd expect from this place. The locals in there looked sketchy which is another selling point. It's a large place with several pool tables. Don't start a tab. When I went to close out, found out my credit card was charged another customer's bill and given to him. Manager said "these things happen and not responsible for what happens on my card after it leaves dons". Still tried to make me pay for my tab even after giving someone else my card and charging me for their tab. read more
