I have been a homeowner for 45 years. I have hired plenty of contractors for various jobs. Recently I was trying to adjust the tension on my garage door torsion springs because the door was not closing all the way on one side. Somehow I screwed up and put too much tension on one of the springs. When I tried to open the door it suffered a major malfunction. I mean it was serious. I have worked on my garage door before, including changing the torsion springs. But this time the situation was beyond my ability to fix. Two of the rollers had come off the track; the track on the left side was seriously bent out of shape; the door was canted to one side and was just barely hanging on the track. I jumped on my laptop and looked at Yelp for contact information for garage-door contractors. I read the reviews for DoorWorks in Salida. I liked what I saw. I sent an email to DoorWorks at 9:00pm and got an immediate reply. The owner, Joey, said that he could be at my house at 8:00am the following morning. I said that that was fine. At 8:00am the next morning Joey arrived. He was very friendly and upbeat. I introduced myself and then walked Joey into my garage to show him my situation. Joey surveyed the situation, and said "No problem, I can get this back in operation in about 45-minutes". I was astounded. I could not believe that one guy could fix this problem in 4 hours, much less 45-minutes. Anyway, I told Joey to proceed. In 45-minutes he had the door back on track and working perfectly. Amazing! Joey explained that he has been working on garage doors for 30 years, and had seen about every type of problem. Anyway, I told Joey that my garage door was about 28 years old and, because the opener was installed off to the side instead of directly in the center of the ceiling that it was prone to failing. Joey explained my options, including having him install a totally complete system with a new start-of-the-art Liftmaster 8500W opener. I asked Joey for a quote and he gave me one which I thought was very, very reasonable. I asked him when he could do the complete install. He said "How about tomorrow morning". I said that that was fantastic. Well, to make a long story short, Joey showed up this morning with a new door, new rails, new torsion springs, all new hardware, and a new Liftmaster 8500W side-operated garage door opened. He went to work. He took down the old door, removed all of the old track rails, removed the torsion springs and bar, and took down the old Craftsman opener. He then proceeded to install the new track rails, new torsion springs and a new bar, installed the new Liftmaster opener and the associated controls. The job was totally completed in just four hours. Amazing! Amazing! Joey is a "pros pro". He is the friendliest guy who obviously loves his work. I am completely satisfied with his work, and give him my highest recommendation. read more

I called DoorWorks after our garage door busted a spring. We realized it had broken on Saturday evening, 12/23/17. Most places I started researching were already closed, and most didn't have Sunday hours per Yelp. I found DoorWorks/Joey's review on Yelp, which indicated he worked until 9pm, seven days a week. I gave Joey a call, and he answered his phone promptly, and agreed to come out the next day, which was not only a Sunday, but Christmas Eve. I was more than impressed with Joey's pleasant demeanor and eagerness to come out to assess the situation. Joey came out as scheduled, and confirmed we had a broken spring. Joey did not have the parts on hand, but said he could obtain them on Tuesday after Christmas. Joey offered to replace the internal spring in our assembly, but also offered to convert the assembly to an external spring assembly for a reasonable cost ($250). Joey was able to accommodate our work schedule and came out at 6pm on Tuesday as promised. Joey was super professional during the efficient install which took him just under an hour to replace, convert and tension the entire rod, springs, brackets, cables, and drums. Joey Gallegos is just pure awesome as well as his work!! I met Joey down at Cassle Garage Door in Modesto. I was there purchasing a 16'X7' garage door to try to install myself on my own. Upon purchasing the door I noticed I had two problems. My problems were that the 16'X7' door was going to be too long to fit in my small pick up truck, a 2002 Nissan Frontier. I also noticed that there were too many hinges and springs with no given directions on how to assemble the door. That's when I met Joey who happens to be hauling in two used garage doors into Cassle to dispose of. He soon noticed my problems and offered to give me a hand on hauling my garage door to my house in Salida, where Joey also lives. Joey did not charge me for hauling the door which I found very kind of him. I soon asked Joey why he was hauling garage doors around and found out that he actually installs and repairs doors. Therefore I scheduled an appointment with him after he gave me a free visual estimate. He came by two days after around 11:00 AM and by 1:00 he completely installed and repaired my garage door and motor. Joey provides excellent and fast service. He is very experienced and knowledgeable too. I found out when he took a look at my garage door motor and knew what was wrong by just listening to it. He also managed to setup two garage door remotes and even synced my ford mustangs built in remote! Another great thing is that he is very affordable and cheap I only paid $320 for installation, labor, parts, and remotes!! I purchased the door on my own but if I would have had Joey purchase it I would have gotten a better deal. Absolutely recommend Joey!! Two thumbs up for his service!!! read more

A neighbor updated his home. He had a two year old garage door he was replacing with one that fit the new design of his home. He also got rid of his Chamberlain garage door opener? I put up the door, but wasn't comfortable with the springs or the left & right tension cables. I got a recommendation from my Mom about DoorWorks. I gave Joey a call and he called me back quickly. When he arrive he got right to work and removed my old door and opener and replaced them with new, state-of-the-art equipment.
