A perfect place to end a day watching the sunset with your date ;) The docks are clean and the water is beautifully clear. The playground for kids is by far the most realistic boat structure I've ever seen, and I'd be lying if i said I wasn't a bit envious :) there is even a tight rope walk connecting the two sections! The ducks here are also very unafraid of people.

I really enjoy Houghton Beach Park. It's especially great when the weather is warm and has plenty of areas for you to lay out and soak up some rays. The park is a good size and has a dock, sand volleyball area, playground, tons of benches and a picnic area. There are even some statues of art around too. It has it's own parking lot, but usually is full in the summer time as it is packed with people. There are often ducks here walking around looking for food. The beach has sand and rocks, the sand was a surprise to me haha I love coming here even when the weather isn't so warm out. I really enjoy walking around in the park and hearing the ocean nearby. You can even see part of Seattle's skyline as well. It's a great place to come to to read, write or relax. All in all I'm sure I will be back here, especially this summer.

Beautiful waterfront. You get an epic view of Lake Washington with downtown Seattle and Olympic Park mountains in the distance. Not the best sand beaches but still a great place to go to swim, tan, hang out and play volleyball. They have a caged sand court and it is great! Also a lot of good grass area. There is a lot of parking on the streets. Lots of pretty houses and greenery. Everywhere is very clean and well maintained.

    Such a peaceful beach.

Came to this beach because I was in the area. I've wanted to visit Houghton in the past, but never prioritized it. Today, being such a beautiful day, I couldn't resist! I'm so glad I got the opportunity to visit, because the weather today was absolutely amazing, and there were so many awesome people at this beach. The parking lot was super easy to access and parking was a breeze, even with this weather.. so I image not too many people visit here. There are a variety of vibes I get from this beach, there's several benches spread out to sit and relax on, but then there's also a couple of docks you can walk out on and catch fish (or like me, take pics) I was able to get really close the several ducks, as they rested in a comfortable state, and they were so unbothered by my presence, it was incredible. For the children there's a nice sandy area to play in, and a cool jungle gym in the wood chips!!! Volleyball for the adults is just steps away from the beach and the boat rental amenity is something the brag about!! Loved this beach!

On my way to the Kirkland Marina,. I decided to pull into a parking lot and check out the Houghton Beach Park which was such a good stop.. Most excellent! Tons of energy and fun throughout the park. ! Activities: Swimming, Paddle board rentals, volleyball, snack shack, patio with chairs to sit at, green lawn to sunbath, toys to play on for the kids, lifeguards watching the swimmers and keeping them safe. Could be challenging on a nice day: Parking! I know that another review said ample parking, not so sure about this. I have passed this park many times and the parking lot is totally full on nice days. Look for parking on side streets close by, but be careful on parking restrictions....the parking patrol loves to give tickets in Kirkland. Bring the beach towell, a nice snack to eat and a great book and have yourself a great afternoon.

Fun small beach park with a playground. Relatively easy to get to with a small parking lot. If it's full, plenty of street parking nearby. Came here on a sunny Saturday morning and not very crowded.

Nice park to take the kids to see ducks and if you want you could swim. The water is cold and the sand is dark brown, definitely not Hawaii. Nice to swim for toddlers, water is shallow and calm. There's also a playground.

Small park with small playground. Nice neighborhood. There is a "beach cafe + grill" that seems to be a popular spot along with Ivar's.

    Do they allow dogs?

Hi Amanda, most Kirkland parks, including this one, allows dogs, but they must be on leash. Hope this helps!

The boats you rent from this place are not big enough to handle the wakes comfortably. I know some could say that this is not the fault of the boat rental company, but to a great degree, it is. These boats, the size of them and their power, are more appropriate for smaller bodies of water where you have less wakes. They do not have enough power to cut through them. They are about as fast as a two person kayak going full speed. Yeah, that slow. Once I discovered how feeble and underpowered they are, knew I should not venture out far from the coast. So I hugged the shore to avoid the rough waters and went north. Once we got to the cove we turned around. We had brought food for a picnic, but the boat kept rocking so much we couldn't comfortably eat. So even parking and just hanging out wasn't pleasant. Five years ago, I rented a sporty pontoon boat from waterfront adventures. Took my wife out on a lunch date with it and had a wonderful experience. They no longer rent those, but that is my point of comparison. These electric boats are underpowered, unstable and for the price($300+), disappointing. We returned to the docks an hour before our time was up it was that unpleasant. BUT, they are warm with the wind covers down. Have comfortable seats. We made the best out of it and tried to enjoy ourselves. My 2 year old son enjoyed it, and that saved the experience.

I don't know if there's a limit but it can get very crowded of people because sometimes the whole family comes along to watch their doggy swim :) It is very fun and inspiring having these kind of activities for dogs. They truly enjoy it with available tennis balls. Ours was in the water the whole time. They can use both pools (there's a small one on the other side of the planters). We also went into the baseball field where all dogs were allowed to run and chase balls. Just be sure that your furry one is friendly around other dogs and people. We all trust each other's. They won't allow children to use goggles for the swim test or on the diving board which makes zero sense given that professional divers use goggles in the Olympics! Also, the swim schools around here have the kids use goggles as a mandatory requirement so of course the kids are used to using goggles to swim. I had many kids tell me how gaslit they felt today by being told that they couldn't swim when they quite literally had just swum the length of the pool. It was not a good experience for them and we had several kids upset and in tears over being told that they literally couldn't do what they had *just* done. The lifeguards were apparently upset about a rowdy group prior to us in the last few days and took it out on our kids needlessly. What an absolutely bizarre experience. Such a disappointment for them and us as parents who couldn't do anything to help them. My own kid is almost a graduate of the wave swim school in Juanita which means they can swim very well and even they were failed. The test is obviously way too hard if you're failing kids who have graduated a swim school. Just because you've had the same test forever doesn't mean it's good or valid.
