We came to O.O. Denny Park for a family day with our church group, and it was a beautiful setting to simply celebrate being together. The park is well kept, with a big picnic area that worked perfectly for our gathering. If you bring kayaks, tubes, paddleboards, or similar, this is a super mellow and picturesque place to launch. We were there later on a Saturday afternoon with our church family, we enjoyed the music, the BBQ, volleyball, and it stayed peaceful and relaxing even with plenty of people around. The wide-open spaces, the lake water and gentle breeze off the water made it especially enjoyable. A great Kirkland park for relaxed family time by the water. read more

This is a beautiful park, with beachfront, fields to run and play, a playground and covered facilities for grilling, eating, sitting and enjoyment. We loved that the parking was just off the street, making it easy to find our way to the reserved pavilion. The playground offered a great spot for the kids in our party to play and engage while the adults visited and looked on. read more

0ne of my favorite parks to visit in the summers. The gentle waves of lake Washington.. a dreamy sunset with a wide Mount Rainier view over the lake. And ofcourse a serene park with lots of trees and flora. You cant go wrong with an evening visit. Be aware though - lot of the white pollen stuff flying around (and that's just nature doing it's thing). Wear a mask if you are sensitive and have allergies. read more

MY NEW FAVORITE HIKE We took our 5 year old and 9 month old on this trail. It's definitely a kid friendly hike, it didn't take us long to get to the end. It was a little muddy but nothing too crazy. I loved it so much! It's so beautiful 10/10 recommend :) We got here around 10am on Sunday. I thought it would be packed but there was a lot of parking. We went to the trail first and went to the water front afterwards (across the street from parking lot) There's a little playground before the lake. Super cute. My daughter loved it. read more

Great small local park! Found it by accident while driving around. Not ever crowded since its a very secluded spot. Which is great! Lots of areas to bbq, picnic tables, covered and non, restroom facilities, etc. An amazing view of the mountain on a clear sunny day, beautiful waterfront, lots of places to sit down and relax. I can't wait for summer! Seems like it's also a popular place for dogs too. Many are off-leash, even though I believe they're not supposed to be. But the place is clean and the owners responsibly clean up after their pooches. I know I do. Cute little white shells among the rocks on the water too, great little adventure for little kids who's into "finding things". read more

On one side of the street is the trailhead, and the other is a beach front park. The trailhead is fairly easy, about a mile, and has the largest tree in King County- Sylvia! (there's a little plaque next to it). There's a river and you can look for salmon. Its beautiful, an enjoyable hike, and not too crowded. Across the street is a park on the water with a view of Mt. Rainier on a clear day. There is a park shelter, picnic tables, and playground equipment. There are two parking lots and appears to be plenty of parking. read more

Such a fun hike! It's about a mile long so when you turn around it makes it 2, good length for a quick hike. Pretty bridges and streams, relatively easy hike but difficult enough to get your heart beating!! read more

HOW HAVE I NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE? Let me set the setting.... A beautiful weekday with the sun shining like it does in the PNW. Clear skies & sunny day! As many Yelpers put it - it is quite secluded :) Always a plus when it comes to parks in the PNW. The park has two parking lots. One on the same side as the park which is where I parked & another across the street which seems to be overflow parking. The main parking lot looks like it could get full on a beautiful weekend but since I went on a weekday - parking wasn't an issue at all. The bathrooms are located right before you enter the park and are very well-kept. The park itself has a BEAUTIFUL views looking over the lake and an even more stunning view of Mt. Rainier. The pano-shot I got from here was unreal. They have picnic tables with BBQ grills at the ready so it would be an awesome place to BBQ while watching the sunset on a summer night. We sat on the edge of the concrete wall that separates the lake water from the park. Our feet were able to dangle off without it touching the water so it's a little bit of a jump but you can see the bottom of the lake so it's quite shallow. There is a little "beach-y" area where there is another picnic table that would make an awesome chill-spot for people who like to take their dogs swimming. There is also a playground for kids but I didn't really explore that side of the park. All in all, I can't believe this is the first time I've been here. It truly is a hidden gem. I am going to watched the sunset here this summer, mark my words :) read more

O. O. Denny Park is a great park. They have a one mile hike to hike on and also a beach. Very nice views of the water and I also heard owl sounds up in the tree around sunset! There also is the largest tree in King County on the hike. There's some close parking lots next to trail and some side parking right along the beach. Would recommend. read more

Play Area = NA Parking = *** SPF = **** Visited this park today during school hours on a cool wet day. Very large beautiful green park right on the waters of Lake Washington. This is a perfect spot to have a picnic and spend some time just hanging out. Plenty of room to toss around a ball or frisbee. Play Area (NA) No play structure, but still a lovely park with lots or room to run and play. Parking (3 Stars) Small lot on site, overflow lot across the street. I suspect parking is challenging during peak summer times. SPF (4 Stars) Lots of Trees. What a great place to be near the water and stay out of the sun if you want. There are a lot of very big evergreen and deciduous trees in and around the park. Plenty of sunny spots too if that's your bag. ;-) read more

We loved this park! There are two parking lots on either side of the road. Lake side has swimming, picnic tables and a play area. Spectacular views on the lake and even a view of Mt. Ranier! Gorgeous! The other side of the road are trail heads leading off directly from the other parking lot. We didn't get to explore those, but can't wait to come back for a hike through the thick woods. I can see this getting very busy during the summer. read more

It's a "beach" on Washington's terms. Very beautiful, feels a little more secluded than other popular beaches in the greater Seattle area- Alki, Juanita, Madison..etc. I thought there was decent parking available, but again, we went on a weekday in the middle of the day. They also have restrooms close by (bonus). Beautiful view of Mt. Rainier and sailboats. Saw a lady paddle boarding. And I think it's dog friendly (on a leash). read more

We have visited this park and done the forest trail (across the street) a lot in the last few weeks and it's really enjoyable. My kids love it and my 3yo managed to do the trails with gresat ease. There is so much to see and do. Highly recommended. I hope you enjoy the photos I've taken. read more

Avery nice medium size park,divided into two parts, the one for the beach, and the picnic area, the last one is very nice, probably 8-10 bbq b benches. Very clean, very nice view, you can even see the mountain. The best part of it, that it is it is very close to the cirty and crowd however, when you drive to it, it feels like you have went out in the forrest, very nice deive in middle of trees. read more

I am totally floored that no one else has written a review for this great park! We had some time to kill, and the temperature was near 96 degrees...so my brother-in-law suggested that we go to a local beach near his home...the O.O. Denny. The O.O. Denny is located off of the Northeastern shore of Lake Washington. I read up a little on the history of the park and it wasnamed after Orion Denny, the son of Seattle founder Arthur Denny. It's a fascinating tale of money, conflict and drama, but the end result is that the area that was Denny's country estate was willed to the City of Seattle as a public park. There are a great many trails, and picnic areas as well as the waterfront. The park was slated to be closed in 2001, but the local residents of Finn Hill banded together and were able to save this beautiful park and maintain and manage it to this day with their tax money. We were lucky to score parking in the main parking lot area and maneuvered our way through the grassy knolls, trails, etc with our chairs, towels, and coolers. The huge trees offered a lot of welcome shade, yet there are still huge areas to sunbathe and tan. We spent about 3 hours playing in and on the edges of Lake Washington. It isn't a sandy beach...just tons of and tons of rock...we're light foots, so even in the water, we wore our flip flops. Trying to keep them on while swimming, was another story. Thank goodness they float! One of the things that I can not get over about Seattle, is the simple acts of kindness that were bestowed upon us. People everywhere we went were so friendly, and here was no exception. Because we were visiting, we did not have any fun beach or water toys. People generously shared and offered theirs to us so that my son could enjoy them as well. read more

In our quest to get the *f* outside, get to know our area even better, and to ease the pain of waiting on Juanita Beach to open, we found ourselves here at O.O Denny last week. There are two parking lots, the paved lot for the park is pretty small considering the overall size of the park, but does have wheelchair/disabled access spots. The second lot (across the street) is a VERY potholed dirt lot and on a busy day, it is CRAZY. In desperation to find spots, or general jerkiness, people tend to just make up spots where they please. Many people park along the street outside the park, but be warned, while we were there Kirkland Police did in fact announce via loudspeaker (several, several times) that all cars parked along the "no parking" areas would be ticketed and potentially towed. Which, hate me if you want, I thought was awesome. Obey the rules so we can have equal fun, guys, jeez! There is a steady stream of people coming in, people leaving, so we had no trouble finding a (legal) spot in the secondary lot. The kids had a blast here. Swimming should be done with caution, as there is a pretty dramatic drop off shortly off the beach (which is well signed so not a big shock) and outlying posts and buoys keep any boat traffic at safe distances from any swimmers out there. There is shade, trees, open grass and beach galore at this park. Was rather unexpected, as many of Kirkland's waterfront parks don't always give so much of these options. I think O.O Denny is quick to be on our *top 5* list of favorite local spots really quickly. Next time, though, if they want to go to the beach, we need to up and on our way well earlier to hope for better parking :D read more

Nice little park. I went to meet a bunch of friends yesterday for a party. Ok, it was the normal Seattle Cold Summer Cold day! We did nto go swimming as planned. The view was beautiful. The water was refreshing for those who swam. Not very crowded. A small parking lot. Maybe I will find the bathrooms next time! read more

OO Denny is probably my favorite park to go to in the summer to swim, hang out with friends, and lay in the park. Not only is the park very big, but it also has picnic tables, grills, bathrooms, and a shelter that you can rent out for special occasions. In generally, the park is not too crowded unless it is super hot out, so just be aware that on those peak days it may be difficult to find parking. read more

It is a great park for everybody! The only down side to it is very small parking lot. It has a lot of trees which is good during hot weather. Most of the time playground is in the shade of the trees which is awesome. If you want to rent Shelter for a kids bdsy party that is the park to go. Shelter which has oversize BBQ is next to the playground. I tried to book Shelter at the begining of July but it was booked until October...bummer :-( read more

Cute little park along the water. Very well kept and fun to go during the fall/ spring. It gets super crowded during the summer with so many cars packed on the side of the road.
