Dormans Auto sold us a 2017 Ford F250 that had serious issues almost immediately after purchase. Within 75 miles of driving it home, the engine began making a loud ticking noise, which strongly suggests the problem existed at the time of sale. We brought the truck back multiple times, spending hours traveling, but their attempted repairs didn't fix the issue and their explanations were inaccurate. Since then, additional problems have surfaced, including oil leaks (front differential and rear main seal), non-working heat/defrost, electrical issues with lights, a broken radio, and a non-functioning passenger window. We also had concerns with how the deal was handled upfront, including being encouraged to temporarily change insurance in a way that could be considered misrepresentation just to satisfy the bank. Despite giving them opportunities to make it right, Dormans Auto has refused to repair the vehicle or take responsibility. Very disappointing experience and lack of professionalism. Great Experience !! I saw a car online that I wanted at their Seekonk location , I contacted them about the vehicle I seen Online and told them I wanted to purchase it. Gave them a deposit and they sent the paperwork to me so I can get Financing from my Credit Union , They offer the best rates. I went to test drive about a week later and signed the paperwork . They had another week to Service, Detail and get the registration for the vehicle. I drove an 1 1/2 hr. each time to get there and the same returning home. I had concerns about the car and had to return 3x for the repairs at their Pawtucket location.. Each time the repairs were done in a Timely manner and fixed. They covered everything since it was still in its warranty period with no issues. The Car runs Great and the experience was Great. Here's the scoop; these folks are top notch. I had a lil fender bender back in May of this year. Dorman's was where my car went, and I couldn't be happier about it. They made my auto look brand new. Like, brand brand new. John is my guy. He's got the greatest personality for what he does. Friendly isn't good enough. He's a tremendous help with all kinds of questions, and doesn't make you feel like a idiot. He showed me photos and parts that were replaced, and explained the extent of the damage. Best experience ever. Then, out of nowhere, there's a noise. I thought I was crazy, but there was a noise and admittedly, I should have called sooner, but life got in my way. But when I called, once again John came through above and beyond. He was honest and again, diligent with his explanation. AND IT WAS FIXED!! Numerous vehicles are reported as one owner examples with low mileage, have clean titles and Carfax yet are salvage titles with contemptible quality repairs done to them. I went here not too long ago to look for a car for my fiancé and was shocked at how shady this place is. The owner is very dismissive and stays in his office gorging on food and screaming into the phone when he isn't. One of my co-workers corroborated by telling me a pretty crazy story about this establishment as well which is how I learned about the shady title handling....said coworker also said how despite having close to an 800 FICO score they tried to slap him with 37 (!!!!!) percent APR over 96 months..... the salesman's reasoning for this was "I gotta put (expletive) food in my kid's (expletive) mouth"....please, PLEASE go elsewhere! I was looking for a reliable car for my son. Agreed to purchase a 2013 Honda Civic. The vehicle was listed for $12,495. I was willing to pay the price (Probably too much) because the car had relatively low mileage and I currently own a 2014 Honda Civic, which I absolutely love. I was charged $12,500 for a vehicle that was listed at $12,495 and I didn't say anything because I didn't want to seem petty. I thought I was getting a safe reliable automobile for my son to drive. I didn't! When I picked the vehicle up, I was not given a key fob even though the listing stated it was keyless remote entry. I was only given one simple valet type key. I asked the salesman if I get a key fob and he said no. On the drive home I determined that the Bluetooth microphone did not work. When I returned home I emailed the salesman about the Bluetooth microphone and he directed me to talk to the service department. He showed zero interest in helping me himself. I called the service department and made an appointment to bring the vehicle in. Upon further inspection, I found about 2 inches of water surrounding the spare tire and 2 inches of water in each rear wheel well. I again emailed the salesman who did not respond to my email and didn't acknowledge it in ANY way. He clearly forwarded it to the service department because they called me and again were pleasant. They agreed to make a key fob and fix the Bluetooth microphone. I dropped the car off and about four days later they told me it was ready to be picked up. I was told that they sealed around the tail lights, made a key fob and replaced the Bluetooth microphone. I picked the vehicle up with a working microphone and a new key fob. The next rain event soaked the interior of my trunk again. I brought the car back and they did more extensive work and told me that it was fixed. I again drove to the dealership to pick the car up and before entering the facility I felt in the trunk because it had rained the night before and it was wet! At this point the owner got involved and told me to leave the car again and he would personally make sure that it was fixed. Once again I was told it was fixed and the owner admitted that they found a small leak. In the first 20 days of ownership, I only had the car in my possession for 5 days. On a positive note, I was given a rental car while they had my vehicle. The car was dropped off at my house and sure enough the next rainstorm I'm still getting water in the trunk. At this point it's not very much water but it 100% is still getting wet. There is ZERO amount of water that is acceptable. I spoke to the owner and admittedly lost my cool, but after three times being told that the trunk was fixed and it not being fixed, I was pissed! For all intents and purposes, he told me that the trunk was not leaking and he didn't believe me. I told him that I'm not a liar and I believe that he fixed the leak that he saw, but that it is clearly coming in from somewhere else. At this point, I told him that I don't want the car and I just want to return it and get my money back which did not meet with his approval. I was clearly fighting a losing battle and just decided to "suck it up" and deal with a little bit of water each rainstorm. When the warm weather hit recently, I determined that the air conditioning did not work. More recently, the airbag system warning light came on and stays on. After that, the door open warning light comes on every 15 seconds and then shuts off before coming on again over and over and over again. I'm absolutely disgusted with this experience and just to be done with this entire miserable experience I traded the car in yesterday and took more than a $7000 loss just to have peace of mind and to be able to sleep at night. I purchased a new vehicle from Herb Chambers Honda and I highly recommend them, I would avoid Dorman's at all cost. Ironically, I purchased the vehicle on April Fools' Day. Go figure... read more

We just bought a used mini van at Dorman's and were extremely happy with how flexible and honest the company was throughout the process. At first, I was a little concerned, because I thought the price of the minivan was slightly more expensive than other minivans which I saw on Craigslist, but here's what you get when you shop at Dorman's: 1. Although we weren't in a particular hurry, we had no interest in listening to a long drawn out sales pitch. Jed, the salesman, got us in and out quickly, and he never mentioned the words "extended warranty" or "financing." He didn't try to upsell us or put any pressure on us to buy anything we didn't want. 2. We wanted to find out about the car's history. Jed pulled up the carfax on the spot and even offered to print us a copy to take home with us. 3. We wanted our family mechanic to check out the car before we purchased it. A runner from Dorman's drove the car to our mechanic and picked it up from our mechanic the next day. They did this at no additional cost. 4. Overall, our mechanic said the car looked "brand new," and only recommended one fix (replacing oil gasket). Dorman's fixed this without hesitation. 5. Upon test drive, we noticed another small issue with the power seat. Dorman's fixed this without hesitation. When there was a delay in getting the part, Dorman's offered us a loaner, without being asked! 6. After taking our new minivan home with us, we noticed one more small issue with a dead bulb on the console. Once again, Dorman's fixed this without hesitation, even though this is definitely not something that would typically be included in their warranty. My overall impression dealing with Dorman's is that they are a smallish business operating with honesty and quality as their primary values, and yet just enough of a margin to still run a profitable business. This dealership sold my 20 year-old nephew a 2011 Ram 1500. He problem after problem with the truck from the moment he drove it off the lot. They sold him a truck with a rusted transmission pan, a defective brake fluid sensor and a hole in the CV boot. The window in the back of the cab never closed properly and still doesn't even after it's been back to their repair shop several times. The most egregious of all however is that the body of the truck was rotting away and rusted out. Rather than repair it, they covered the rust with paint. The paint is beginning to wear off now and the rust and rotting is now evident but it is well beyond the point of this unethical dealership having to be responsible to repair it. Well, was originally happy but not so much anymore. Fiancee and I bought a vehicle in cash. I was told by the salesman that they basically we're doing us a favor because they only make money on the financing ? Thanks? The owner who is a smoker is hacking up a lung and NO ONE IS FOLLOWING COVID precautions like a slap in the face to those of us who work in healthcare. All the people coming to the dealership are masked? Mind you there on the RI/MA line. I put a down payment on another vehicle bc I'm expecting some money to buy another car. I have not received the funds as of yet, but I was called daily even after saying I'm all set. Then they hit me up with financing? I'm paying cash? Why would I do that? So you can sell a car? Then what? I have to undo all this paperwork and incur that mess? This should have been a red flag. So, I call about my refund of my deposit. I live an hour away and have to drive there that's the only choice I have?.. So I go, I get there no masks, etc. Ok, then the salesman tells us he's had surgeries etc. Great quarantining are we? Bc, we just were there 4 weeks ago? So the fact that I have to go there is already obsurb..then the owner tells me that I owe him money for my fiancee. I'm No! I'm my own person? He wants to see him imxay No! He's sick. He was in the hospital for six weeks with MRSA. I said I'll pay, but it was not my responsibility . But you can bet your ass that's why he made me drive there! Then today a day later my money is still not in my account, but the $100.00 is out for him? Purchased a 2012 Volkswagen on 9/18, 2 weeks later the battery was dead and they replaced it with no questions asked. I had surgery in Dec and didn't drive the veh till Jan. Coming off the highway my veh begins to buck and stall out, luckily I made it a mile down the street to my house. The veh was no longer drivable so I searched my paperwork for my warranty. In doing so I noticed a few things on my sales contract. The price of the veh was wrong! Brad had told me on the phone that he got me the veh for 10,000.00 the contract said 12,000.00. I paid the sales tax, reg fees, gap coverage the temp paper plate and put down 2000.00 all out of pocket( have my receipts). The deposit amount was even off by 25.00. All said and done my veh was towed and repaired for a whopping $5,735.00. The timing had jumped and I had to replace the engine on a veh that had 98,000 miles and I had only driven for approximately 3 months. I realize I didn't buy a brand new vehicle but this was too much to swallow. Also, all of the errors or what the 2 salesman (Brad & Bob) told me about the purchase of my vehicle were NOT truthful! I realize I should have read the contract more closely but you trust a business and salesman who have been in the business for over 25 years to not screw you over...this establishment had many good reviews. Now, at this point I have dished out $ 5,735.00 in repairs, $3,834.00 in deposits...my bank account is drained for a vehicle that I have driven for basically 3 months! NEVER AGAIN will I have anything to do with this business! read more
