As my child finishes his last year at Shenker, I thought it was only appropriate to leave a review…read more Moving to Vegas has been challenging in so many areas. Whether it has to do with education or healthcare (both of which were significantly better in Orange County). I enrolled my child at Shenker after talking to all the parents I would meet at the park in my neighborhood who would sing the school's praises. I am happy to say, Shenker lived up to my expectations. My child does not speak English as his primary language, and I was worried about how that would affect him. Also if I might add, I would get unsolicited comments from other educators concerning my refusal to speak English to my child at home. I am an educator ( I have a Masters in education and another Masters in school counseling) and I knew he would pick up English just as I did. Upon meeting with Dr. Sharon, he agreed with my approach concerning my son learning two languages, and put me at ease. My son has greatly improved academically and socially at Shenker. He is so happy to go to school, and everyone in the front office knows his name, as they do with ALL the students that attend their school. Dr. Sharon has truly been a joy to work with, and I see how much he cares for his staff and for his students at school. He knows every student's name and he works with every family to accommodate their needs. I honestly believe this school's success comes from the top down. I want to thank Shenker and Dr. Sharon for giving me peace of mind in the most important aspect of my life; my child's safety and education. Yours truly, Samvel's mom.

The class was organized, communicative, and I felt so at ease knowing my baby was in their hands. Now he is in the Ducklings with Ms Alyssa and I can't say enough positive things about her and her teaching style. My son has learned so much going to this school even though he has only just turned two, he is counting past 10, reading letters, coming home with new learnings every day. We are excited to continue to watch him grow and develop at Shenker.

Early intervention is highly important for help with children with special needs so they can succeed later in life. This school is not up to the task to discovering those needs and assisting your child. Right now 1 out of 56 children are autistic. That's not counting any of the other children with additional needs. My daughter did not want to integrate with the preschool classroom. They thought it was purely a behavioral problem. We did everything they asked. She was "super smart" (their words) so they wanted to keep her, but she couldn't handle being with the group. Though she was still listening/learning from afar (again their words) They tried to physically force her resulting in major meltdowns. They ended up kicking her out. They made me feel like a failure of a parent and my child wasn't exactly excited to experience school again after that. With the assistance of CCSD and her doctor she was diagnosed with high functioning autism. She's doing great in a general education classroom and still super smart. My point is pick a school that will help your child no matter what the circumstances. This school isn't going to do that.

One year my daughter had 3 different teachers. Each year they seem to have all new teachers and staff is constantly coming and going- other than about half of the teachers who are all related to the owner. The school is family owned which can contribute to a family feel of the school overall. However, if you are not related to the family, personal friends with the family, or volunteer with the school, your child and your family will be outcasted and excluded. Only some kids are invited to play sports. Kids they do not want on their sports teams are not even invited to try out. The principal/owner Mr. Diller regularly yells and swears at the kids. He is demeaning and borderline abusive to the students. Candil Hall also allows bullying and in some cases promotes or praises students who bully. Children who are bullied are not protected by the school. They get no help even when they feel so unsafe they don't want to go to school. Student to student threats are not taken seriously. It's incredibly disappointing the lack of concern and support shown to children at this school. While my child did leave there more advanced academically, she also left there with psychological trauma, fear, distrust of schools and teachers, and overwhelming feelings of confusion because she felt so unsafe in the place that she should feel the safest. I regret ever sending my child to this school and wish I could undo all of the trauma Candil Hall has caused her. Additionally, if you ever have any issues with the teachers, the staff, the family, etc. you will be talked negatively about and they will spread rumors to other parents about you. This school is not worth it, please look elsewhere.

They have a Thanksgiving show, Christmas show, end of year party/celebration, and other fun stuff for kids and parents. My daughter is going into 4th grade now, and she still remembers this place and her teachers. Pretty incredible since she was here from ages 2-5. Very friendly, family oriented staff, that takes the time to get to know you and your kid(s). I think the bad reviews for this place are from "Karen's" that won't be happy anywhere. Great place overall! My daughter (Tonantzin) misses this place!

Overall, I came here for my daughter's Volleyball game and it is a beautiful school with a small gym but very clean. I like how there was also a food truck there as well. The only reason why I did not give it a 5 star is because the parking stalls are a bit compact (and being that I am originally from Hawaii, we have compact stalls there) and someone scratched my car when they opened their door.

Not the worst, but far from what it should be…read more I'll be honest--I wanted to love this place. At first glance, it checks some important boxes: clean buildings, a decent variety of after-school programs, and a lot of buzz about being "one of the better schools" in the area. But after spending real time here, that reputation doesn't hold up under closer inspection. The good stuff? Sure, it's there. The campus is well-kept and looks great, and my kids have genuinely enjoyed a few of the clubs they've tried. I'll also say that some of the teachers are passionate and communicative. You can tell they care. But unfortunately, the strong ones feel outnumbered by the ones who seem to have checked out. And that's where things start to unravel. Too often, we've seen teachers point fingers at students or parents instead of taking ownership when something clearly goes wrong in the classroom. That mindset makes it hard to trust the process. Meanwhile, the people running the show? It feels like their main goal is image control. Even when serious concerns are raised, the focus shifts to silencing criticism instead of solving problems. Don't even get me started on the pickup line. It's pure chaos. Traffic spills into the streets, everyone's blocking everyone else, and there's no system in place to fix it. You'll spend 30+ minutes in your car daily, just hoping no one gets into an accident. As for academics, it's hit or miss. In some cases, the material seems to come straight from pre-made internet templates--no adaptation, no passion, and sometimes, no clear understanding of the topic from the person teaching it. Honestly, I've found better explanations on YouTube. Other things worth noting: There have been situations involving extremely unprofessional conduct between staff members--yes, during the school day. I've also seen confidential student information passed around carelessly, which is incredibly upsetting for any parent. And the school's reaction to these concerns? Defensive. Instead of addressing the issue, they turned their attention to the parent who spoke up, even threatening to revoke their campus access. That says a lot about their priorities. Bottom line: There are bright spots here, but they're clouded by serious problems in leadership, culture, and accountability. If you're considering this school, go in with your eyes wide open. It might look good on paper, but reality paints a more complicated picture.
