My review is based on the cleanliness and beautification of this school and I do not know anyone who attends and/or works at this school. Overall, I came here for my daughter's Volleyball game and it is a beautiful school with a small gym but very clean. I like how there was also a food truck there as well. The only reason why I did not give it a 5 star is because the parking stalls are a bit compact (and being that I am originally from Hawaii, we have compact stalls there) and someone scratched my car when they opened their door. read more

At first glance, it checks some important boxes: clean buildings, a decent variety of after-school programs, and a lot of buzz about being "one of the better schools" in the area. Don't even get me started on the pickup line. It's pure chaos. Traffic spills into the streets, everyone's blocking everyone else, and there's no system in place to fix it. You'll spend 30+ minutes in your car daily, just hoping no one gets into an accident. As for academics, it's hit or miss. In some cases, the material seems to come straight from pre-made internet templates--no adaptation, no passion, and sometimes, no clear understanding of the topic from the person teaching it. Honestly, I've found better explanations on YouTube. Other things worth noting: There have been situations involving extremely unprofessional conduct between staff members--yes, during the school day. I've also seen confidential student information passed around carelessly, which is incredibly upsetting for any parent. And the school's reaction to these concerns? Defensive. Instead of addressing the issue, they turned their attention to the parent who spoke up, even threatening to revoke their campus access. That says a lot about their priorities. Bottom line: There are bright spots here, but they're clouded by serious problems in leadership, culture, and accountability. If you're considering this school, go in with your eyes wide open. First time here with some friends to watch their kids sing Christmas songs. The music teacher is amazing to have been able to teach over 200 first graders multiple songs and to have them all sing in key. Just amazing they even sang in Spanish for one song. This school is horrible. I get that rules are important to schools, but having most of these ridiculous rules need to go. WHO was in charge of putting yondrs in the school, let me tell you this, you are giving my child and me a responsibility to keep it safe over the summer bring it back clean and nice almost everyday, and when they don't bring it they get punished?!? Also who is the principle cause let me tell you something, so much stuff has been happening and I don't even see him anytime, like is he even alive. I've read most of these reviews and some are stupid but some I can tell were written by concerned parents. This school has multiple up and down, like how the elementary pickup is horrible, and how the elementary teachers yell aggressively at the kindergartens because they are giggling and having fun. I went to pick up my son and I saw a teacher in the kindergarten yelling at this poor kid because he wouldn't sit down, yes there is a lot of commotion and would like it to be easy, but do NOT yell at a kid in the EAR with a MEGAPHONE...That is straight up disrespectful and could harm the kids hearing, im sure other teachers have seen this and won't do anything about because that girl seems like she would kill them if they reported them. I'm sure parents would be concerned and nervous about there health. As a former student that just graduated, either take this advice or leave it: Do not go here if you want your kid in bad hands. The admin are controlling and it very much seems like at every "Staff Development" meeting they have, they want to make up new rules that they won't even enforce. Yondrs need to go. If your children have any mental or physical ailments I highly suggest finding a different school. If your child has any kind of IEP or special needs, I highly suggest you find a different school. The administration is impatient and unwilling to work with parents and students unless it ultimately benefits the school. They are very particular against their brown families, as most of the school is not brown. My children have been alienated and treated terribly by students and staff. After one of my kids had a medical episode and required hospitalization, because we didn't provide the 'proper' paperwork, which was signed by multiple physicians, they called the police on us. read more

Some of these negative reviews are hilarious. One even suggests to view the demographics of the school as if to suggest something nefarious is going on. I'm sure the demographics in the the area might have something to do with it. Sounds like a more logical reason. Complaints are all by parents who don't have kids attending the school. Literally the best school in Clark County.... I cannot say say enough... I have two boys who attend here my oldest a junior and my little guy is in kindergarten... and words really don't do it enough justice. It's safe, organized, great staff. Every dollar raised for this school through activities, festivals, and fundraisers is pumped back into the school. My kids went on multiple field trips this year and did many things other kids unfortunately did not have an opportunity to do. Front desk staff is so sweet on both sides hs/elem. I don't even think I can say one positive thing about this school. My student had gone here from 4th grade to 9th grade before we decided enough was enough. Her elementary years there were fine we never had any problems. Most of middle school was during Covid for her so most interactions with staff and students were limited. The problems started when the students were able to return to school for my student that was 8th grade, she was constantly getting bullied for many different reason mainly her size because for some reason unless your a skinny white blonde girl at this school you're irrelevant and don't deserve to be treated right. She had multiple problems with one student towards the second half of her 8th grade year, I called the school multiple times letting them know what was going on so we could stop the problem. Both student signed "no contact contracts" which stated that if either of them talked about eachother or to eachother could result in rpc or suspension, the other student broke the context within the first day and was not punished for it. A week went on of my child ignoring this girl and not engaging with her until the girl decided she wanted to get physical. School suspended her for 3 days and rpcd me kid. 9th grade I got a call almost every week about her nose piercing. She was pulled out of class and dress coded for it multiple times taking away from education time. Don't even get me started in the yondr pouch. As a parent that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever encountered in my life. Students constantly snuck their phones anyway and we're still distracted from learning. I'm her younger years I will say she talked a lot and disrupted causing teachers to not be very fond of her but in high school she was very quiet and a straight a student but still 1 specific teacher had an issue with her. Linda august she was her algebra teacher and when I say my child was basically being bullied by 50 year old woman I mean it, she was constantly picking on her for things that she wasn't doing multiple kids in the class saw what was happening. The final thing id like to bring up is the administration. The disrespect that they give to their students and even parents is just ridiculous to me. My daughter is usually very respectful to teachers and staff but she reached her limit and started giving the disrespect and attitude back and quite frankly I let her. I never once saw Esplin doing anything for the school and yet his whole thing is "let's be the best school" but hasn't done anything to obtain that for his students. If he really wanted to be the best school he'd be able to see just how many students leave even as soon as being accepted because students and staff are simply out of control and ghetto. read more

My daughter LOVES this campus. We're sitting on the beach on Memorial weekend and she tells me she can't wait to go to school Tuesday!? I think she wants to talk with her friends about this weekends activities but still, can't wait to go back to school?? Really? This is our first year at this campus as she transferred early from the Aliante campus. Her grades have been good but she's had to put in some work. Two of her teachers approved her for honors classes but she is struggling in math. I've heard of others having problems with math as well so I'm thinking maybe it's an administrative problem. I'm embarrassed to write this but knowing is half the battle right? I haven't put in any volunteer hours at all or paid any money. So I owe about $120 in service or money before school ends next week. Glad I have a good job so will be writing a check in my very near future. The one problem that my daughter complains about is "drama". She said the girls can get really catty. I don't know if she means her group of friends or the girls in general. She's 14 so I'm thinking that this is just normal behavior. I hope Somerset gets more sports as some kids decided to transfer out for a more traditional high school experience My kid is into equestrian activities. I would suggest even flag football as a team sport as I want her to experience a more traditional team sport to learn teamwork. I think they have soccer and know they have a lacrosse. She's also in orchestra and the music teacher Mr. Arnold is the shiznit. Listening to the different levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced performances; what he does with each group is notable. The advanced groups are recording worthy. They had a performance last week and they sounded (to me) just as good as some movie soundtracks. Now remember I'm critiquing middle school with some high school. All schools have problems so if you're looking for shangri-la, keep looking. My goal is to do better as a parent next year and get more involved. read more

I have been involved in education in Clark County for 25 years in a variety of capacities. This school is the most well run school that I have every experienced. They are organized, excellent in coordinating communications with students, teachers and parents, and have above all, recruited an OUTSTANDING team of teachers who know how to individualize & inspire learning, and offer students respect and most of all, are able to honor student individuality. My son came from five years of magnet school, two previous charter schools wherein he was bullied by student and teachers. He was checked out of academics and had low self esteem. After only one semester at this school, he is re-engaged in his education, oves learning again, is student body Treasurer and is excited about his future career. I can not say enough about this school and the professionalism, exceptional efficiency and effectiveness offered to students and families in our community. Some of the staff is disrespectful, rude, and dismissive. Nobody knows the principle, math teacher wasn't much help. But the curriculum is good. My daughter has been going there for almost six years so we would know. She will definitely not be attending for high school. My daughter has attended this school for.3 years now & has started her 4th year. The school's teachers are good and caring towards your student. The lower Administration is good, unfortunately the upper Administration is lacking in its professionalism & courtesy towards parents concerns or questions. This was not the case in my daughter's first 2 yrs Prior to the Original principle leaving to open another New Somerset Academy Campus. They don't let parents post negative comments, they have a straw company handeling their student enrollment lottery so that they can meet the CCSD requirements without actually giving everyone a fair and equal chance to enroll (view their demographics), and they have a parent requirement to volunteer or donate money. My daughter's and son have attended Somerset Academy for the past three school years. They went to the North Las Vegas campus and moved over to the Sky Pointe campus when it opened. I have to say, as a parent, it is one of the best decisions I have made. My daughter's have excelled in all of their classes and maintain a high gpa as freshman in High School. My son's teacher is amazing. He is in third grade and his teacher has a wealth of experience that is doing wonders for my son. She has taught him to read and write in cursive which belive it or not is now not required in the school district. All in all I am just very grateful my kids have had such a great opportunity to have a great education. All of the staff and faculty have one thing on mind. The best interest of all of the children. The people who have 1 star must have not been able to get in... that would be the only reason I could imagine that would cause them to write a negative review. read more

I very much appreciate the Somerset Sky Pointe Campus . The fact that they allow parent involvement is wonderful to me . The ccsd school my daughter attended previously did not allow parent participation . The atmosphere is very positive at Sky Pointe. There is a lottery system that is government mandated for Charter schools. The parents that are the most pro-active get their kids signed up early , or sign them up at another location so they can get transferred in . The parents are willing to make sacrifices to get their children in the school. If the parents work full time and cannot participate the school has options to earn volunteer hours . Yes its true the front desk person for elementary is not helpful or super friendly , however the teachers & principles are so wonderful ! The teachers are kind loving and very on top of the children's academic needs . For parents that want a positive caring environment that your children can accelerate in even for AP classes. I highly recommend the school. I am extremely thankful for this school I cannot say enough on its behalf . read more
