I like shopping at the Springboro location. There is a bakery, deli, seafood and meat department in all of their stores. You can also get a sandwich cooked on the grill, they sell pizzas and other convenient foods that can be warmed up at home. There is a nice wine section, you can sip a glass of wine and relax. The Springboro store has a second floor area where you can take a hot sandwich, pizza or any food item. Store items like the fresh bread can be pricey. Fancy Shmancy new grocery store in Mason. I've been to Springboro hundreds of times and I enjoy the items you can't get at places like Kroger. DLM stands for Dorothy Lane Markup, as prices are high, and the rewards program is laughable. They have $50 grapes, steaks "on sale" for $35 a pound. Some of the food is fantastic, and some is needlessly expensive. The Mason crowd will eat it up and I'm sure it will do well. If you want to pay too much and feel fancy, this is the place. Lots of various departments. Plenty of employees check out seems fairly quick and easy but their prices are absolute ridiculous. The salad bar is outrageously priced the meat department for steaks and everything is ridiculously priced. The fish department just looks so so and it's ridiculously priced granted I fished a lot and British Columbia and the West Coast Pacific Northwest so I'm not really into paying $30 for King salmon or sockeye salmon or nearly $40 for halibut. When I saw a rotisserie chicken being sold for $15 and it was probably only a 3 to 3 1/2 pound bird that's when I knew my days of shopping here were over I'll leave it for all the other Pretentious yuppie wanna be's and they can feel glamorous getting dressed up and walking around paying $200 to $300 for a basket of groceries. read more

In terms of upscale groceries, I love DLM because it is a switch up from your classic Whole Foods, Fresh Market etc. They have some unique things I haven't seen elsewhere. I also love that you can eat lunch or dinner here and the upper floor has seating and restrooms so you can even just come, grab a coffee and study if you wanted. For meals you can eat on site they have a bakery, sushi, soup and salad bar, delicatessen, and a veggie bar where you can also get some premade grain bowls. They have a wide selection of cheeses and meats and lots of cutesy gifts as well. They also have a large selection of gourmet chocolate bars. They are known for their killer brownies although I did not try one as they seem like sugar overload to me. I wish they had some vegan or dairy free options in the bakery as well. I was initially stoked they had so many options of cooked sushi as I'm currently pregnant and can't eat raw fish. However, I was pretty disappointed with the two I tried - sweet potato tempura and shrimp tempura. The shrimp was overly sweet and the sweet potato was very mushy with too much green onion. The salad bar however was yummy and the soups also looked delicious. read more

I love that they have a small cafe style place you can get sandwiches, pizzas, and burgers. The food quality is wonderful and they offer a lot of variety. Love this place but sadly cant afford to do the majority of our grocery shopping here. Krogers and Walmart are more our budget. But we do come here regularly because there are some things you just cant get elsewhere. Plus we have DLM picnics upstairs. We particularly love the lobster sandwiches (lobster rolls). You order it at the grill beside seafood counter ... first u make sure seafood has lobster salad. Personally i think their lobster salad was on par with what we had in Maine. Huge claw meat chunks and knock on wood no shell in it so far. Be sure they include lemons to squeeze on it. Anyway while hubby orders and waits i go grab chips or side items and cold pop. After we pay we go upstairs...they have plastic utilities, napkins, paper plates and salt and pepper. Lots of seating up there. Thry even have an elevator. Lobster is expensive, but this is great quality and convenient. Keep in mind some are allergic. So if you have never had shellfish act immediately if you start feeling off or throat closing up. the old saying ...its to die for shouldnt be taken literally. read more

Lots of people don't realize that besides the pre-made food items DLM has available in the main case, if you go back to the seafood and meat counters there is a grill where they will prepare pretty much anything from those areas. Tonight we had lobster rolls for about the 3rd time here and we are fans. Turnover time on food is reasonably quick and they will generally give you the tag so that you can finish shopping and cash out, then come back to pickup the food. Their mezzanine dining area is nice and clean and offers some fun people watching opportunities while you eat. Chi the Mazak one also has plasti-ware, napkins and condiments to boot. read more

Wow. I had been meaning to come here for so very long, but at the end of my work days in Dayton, I always just end up being too tired to stop by before the drive home. I FINALLY made it and life and my pocketbook will never be the same again! I had heard many rumors about what this locally owned business was, but they sure didnt do it justice! I entered and was instantly standing in the bakery. I am not sure if bakery is even the right name for this, as it seems too basic for the endless selection of goodies. I think half my cart was already full by the time I made it through here. There is every kind of bread you could ever think of. They had a Mardi gras display with paczki, king cake, and even a king cake beer... all went in the cart. There are fancy pastries, cakes, pies, cannoli, tarts, and my fave was the apricot breakfast bars. Moving on to the next delight I found myself smack between a full sushi bar with some of the best looking stuff ive seen outside a restaurant... and on the other side a salsa station. Be still my stomach. Oh and the pizza bar right next to it where they will customize and bake your own pie. There was a vast produce section with gorgeous product and next to that a full florist with amazing arrangements and plants available. Next up, the prepared food section... with a full service counter... this might have been the biggest of all the sections. Stuffed chickens and salads and things youd never find in a regular market. ALL MADE HERE. My explanation cant do it justice. After that there is a freezer case with some of the same items. Oh hello Cheese bar. Greetings refrigerated case of housemade dips, hummus, and more. There is a wine bar which also has several beers on tap. Surrounding that is walls of wine and craft beer. Then behold, the Poke bar. It is setup like a salad bar, only to make your own poke bowl! Across from that is the deli... where there is a grill that they will cook things on the spot for you. Can't wait til you get home? The second floor is all a dining area where you can omnomnom all your goodies. I wasn't super impressed with the middle aisles of the store. I didn't see anything there out of the ordinary. The customer service here is second to none. Employees go above and beyond. Everything is spotless, organized, and brightly displayed. Just a great atmosphere overall. I think where they really shine is all the specialty stuff and that is what will make me stop by every single time I go to Dayton from now on! I wanted my first yelp review for the new year to be a place I absolutely love. Dorothy Lane Market is my happy place. Since I don't live in Dayton anymore, coming here is even more special. From the deli to the meats to the bakery to the wine department you literally can't go wrong. Other grocery stores have tried to be like DLM but they just can't live up to the how special everything and everyone is there. I used to work for DLM for 2.5 years and one thing I can say is that they treat their workers great and you can really tell by how wonderful everyone is to the customers. Customers are always first and be served with a smile. Wow! This place is top notch. If you are looking for a legit grocery store that raises the bar, this is it! As soon as you walk into the store, you can tell that the standards are very high. Think of it almost like a non-chain Whole foods or the Fresh Market. Make sure to check out the deli! They have food that you can purchase that has already been made, and the food is top notch! You can tell that it is made well and is healthy. They also have a selection of pre-made salad and sushi. Healthy and quick! Their bakery is delicious!! They are well-known for their brownies, and they do not disappoint. My only regret is that I wish they were closer to Cincinnati. The Springboro location is the closest to Cincinnati.
