Super cute & cozy small restaurant! Once coming in, you have an option for outside or inside seating. Not being from the area, we wanted to sit outside to check everything out! It was super nice weather, and no bugs around us which was a plus! The waitress who served us was super friendly & gave great advice to try different things on the menu. Going down to their house salad to breadsticks was excellent, especially the Lobster Mac & Cheese! It does get packed pretty fast so I would recommend to come on the earlier side but it's super sweet for a date night or just coming out to check out the smaller town! read more

We come back to this spot every year and what good memories it holds! You have to try the Dorset Pockets (specifically the raspberry) they are a staple!!! The hash browns are pretty good if you ask for them crispy. Have never been disappointed! read more

Large restaurant with outdoor seating in the back and front. We came at 11ish and they were only serving breakfast according to the sign on the door. We waited at the front to try to find someone to serve us and it took walking back into the restaurant to find someone to help us. We ate our food on the back porch where children under age 10 are not allowed because it's a deck that they could roll off of, we guess. The service was friendly and fast. The breakfast was a bit greasy for our taste, but fixed our hunger problem. read more

Our group of seven enjoyed a delicious Italian meal at La Pasta this week. Our server was attentive, polite, and cheerful. The food was a taste of Italy in the Northwoods-delicious red sauce and creamy cheesy Alfredo, perfectly cooked pasta. The side salad was fresh, and the breadsticks were toasted to golden brown. The kids enjoyed Italian sodas. Please ignore all those ridiculous bad reviews and listen to our family. We know what's up! read more

I usually eat there for breakfast. Four solid stars. However, I went there for dinner. Not so much. The salad was all iceberg lettuce hearts. The Chicken on the Chicken Genovese was horribly over-cooked. We went in at five, right as they opened for dinner, and the chicken tasted like sand. It tasted like it had sat out in a hot window for an hour! Dry and flavorless. It's too bad, because if they cooked the chicken breast to order, it would have been delicious. If I wanted precooked dry chicken breast, I would have gone to Subway. Don't play the inflated dinner prices. Go there for breakfast. read more

What an amazing Italian restaurant. The menu is huge with so many selections. It has a good wine list as well. Very unique place as the dining room is set up nice and you would never know you were in Dorset MN. You pay in the grocery store which is really unique to say the least. I had the Sicilian shrimp over linguini which came with fresh hot bread sticks and a salad. My wife had the asparagus lasagna which was fantastic. All pasta is fresh and we were told made from scratch. We had a bottle of Pinot Noir to compliment the entrees. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would return again when is the area. read more

Dinner was a big disappointment because of our server. I asked for a common condiment with my food and she actually laughed at me and said "We don't have THAT!" That pretty much took the joy out of eating here. It was especially disappointing because we don't have a chance to come here often and had been looking forward to it for months. I was impressed with the depth of the menu in this small town Italian eatery (though Dorset is the so-called Restaurant Capital of the World). The menu is broken into olive oil based dishes, cream sauced dishes and specialties including an interesting variety of seafood dishes. We really like all the entrees that we ordered (mushroom ravioli and cannelloni), but when we got to dessert and ordered the chocolate lasagna, we were disappointed. It was a very tall slice of what tasted like Duncan Hines cake with super-sweet chocolate frosting. Way too large and way too generic. I give La Pasta 4-stars because the main meal and drinks were fine and the ambiance was quiet and comfy. Overall, an enjoyable experience. read more

Quaint little place kind of in the middle of no where. Prices were more than reasonable. We have spent more on burgers and fries. I had the cannelloni which was very good- the boys had Alfredo. It wasn't half as good as our homemade Alfredo sauce. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs- I didn't try it but she loves her spaghetti. The breadsticks were definitely the bomb! My son had like four. They were deep fried (reminded me of a fresh mini donut from the fair minus the sugar) But the secret is they weren't overdone. Just perfect. Other than that you pay in their attached store next door and their credit card machine wasn't working- I don't think the guy really knew what he was doing. Service was mediocre. read more

This is a great place and Kathy the owner is an amazing chef! I do not get a chance to eat here enough because I own the Chick'n Coop Restaurant and Bar next to La Pasta. I've had a great dinner here. The Italian food is authentic and well prepared! The breakfast I just ate was really amazing. Kathy has invented the 'Dorset Pocket.' You get to choose between fresh blueberries or Raspberries as your filling, which is put between two pieces of French toast. I've never had anything like it!! The Norwegian 'yum-lette' has hash browns, eggs and I chose ham, cheddar, onions and peppers. Wow, it was great. My wife had the perfectly prepared pancakes with thick cut mouth-watering bacon. This is a top-Notch experience, so make sure you give it a try! read more

Stopped for lunch on the way home. The restaurant seemed a bit empty, but local friends told us it was their favorite spot. It's a seat yourself kind of place. No one greeted us as we arrived. We walked through most of the small room eating spaces until we saw another table of people. Once we sat down, staff appeared and took care of us. My husband and I both got the toasted chicken spinach panini. He got the Parmesan tots and I got the fries. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. For a toasted panini, it wasn't what I expected; it was more of a warm ciabatta sandwich. It's not a small sandwich, there were two small juicy chicken breasts on the sandwich. Worst Italian in decades. Ordered fettuccine Alfredo. Fettuccine was limp, soggy with a sauce that was overpowered with a taste of raw garlic and no distinguishable cheese. Had questions before meal and had specifically requested the pasta "al dente". Waitress ignored us as I sat not eating. No attempt to ask about meal even when I chose not to box the entree to take home after trying two bites. Stay away. read more

I've eaten here a couple of times and really like the menu layout and food. I love Italian food and this place is really good at it. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is the ambiance. Window air conditioners are noisy and spoil the otherwise nice, cozy atmosphere. I'll go back though. As I said, love the food! read more

There is no place in Minnesota or anywhere as quaint as this small intimate location for an extraordinary touch of homemade pasta. The salad dressing it's your first hint ... drizzled our poured on a crisp salad that is accompanied by warm breadsticks. However; each entree is well crafted. My favorite is the asparagus lasagna.
