Stopped in for lunch. Very nice decor. They have several local beers on tap. I had a Bemidji German Blonde. The walleye sandwich was huge and very tasty and the prime rib sandwich was also amazing. The owner stopped by our table and gave us a great history of the place. We really enjoyed our lunch. read more

Met up with family for dinner. The food was very good. We ordered one of their burgers w/onion rings, BLT w/side salad, macaroni & cheese w/fries, and Cobb salad w/chicken. The chicken on the salad didn't have a lot of flavor, but the salad was well made. The mac and cheese was from the kids' menu. It was a large serving and had great flavor. I would definitely order it for myself next time. The onion rings were nice and crispy. It got quite busy while we were there. However, noise was not an issue. read more

The atmosphere and service were very good. Caution if you order the prime rib on Saturday. I asked for rare - the rarer the better. I was served a slice that was at least medium well. No pink at all. I did not send it back. I should not have to! read more

Had a wonderful meal this evening. The chicken bacon ranch lavash was a perfect summer meal. Others had the mac and cheese and California burger and sweet potato fries Everyone had great things to say about the meal, tasty, hot and flavorful. Service was superb. Took our family of 14 people for Father's Day and the staff was friendly, food was great and bathrooms were clean!

Love there food but recieved very horrible service tonight. We ordered a to go order at 5:45pm tonight and they told me my order would be ready at 6:05pm. I got there at 6pm and the lady behind the bar asked if I had a call in order. I said yes. She went to the kitchen and asked when my order would be ready and the cook responded "what to go order". Then the waitress asked me what I ordered. I told her a pizza and a cubano. She went and told the cook, then came back and told me that they were finishing it up and it would be ready in a couple minutes. Then it was 6:25pm before she checked back with me. So she went to the kitchen to check on it again. Came back and said they were just wrapping it up. Got our food at 6:30pm and the Cubano and twisters were freezing cold, while my pizza was perfectly cooked. Usual have a way better outcome from them. Tonight was just a horrible experience. read more

This place is amazing! We picked this place to celebrate my father in laws retirement with 22 ppl and the service was very fast and friendly. They made amazing Margarita pitchers!!! Tonight my family and I went to bullwinkles for dinner. There were 5 adults and 2 kids. When we arrived there were 5 tables with 2 to 3 people at them and there were 3 people at the bar. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes to get menus. Then it took another 10 to 15 minutes to get our drinks. Then another 10 to 15 minutes for the waitress to come over and take our order. My daughter needed more water and my grandson wanted more pop they both waited about 10 minutes to asked for more. Then my grand kids food came out 15 minutes before any other food was brought out. I order waffle fries crispy and got them cold couldn't eat them. How ever our waitress never came back to check on us so I didn't get my waffle fries (which was the only reason we went there cuzs my daughter and I both wanted them.) So then about a 1/2 hour later the waitress comes over asked if we need anything and I said yes you can take these waffle fries off my bill there were cold when you brought them to me. As the waitress took them and a few dishes she went to the back we could hear our waitress and others making jokes and rude comments which I find extremely RUDE DISRESPECTFUL and extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. there was an older gentlemen that came in after us the waitress brought him a menu and he sat there for about 10-15 minutes waiting for the waitress to come back. Then the gentlemen got up and walked out. The waitress stood behind the bar talking to people and watched the gentlemen walk out never said anything to him. After he had left the waitress thur her arms in the air and started making rude comments to the people at the bar. Once again I think that is extremely RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. We will not be going back the service was HORRIBLE. And the food wasn't the greatest either. read more

Hands down the worst burger I ever ate! Ordered the Moosy Loosy. No cheese in the center, as it melted out of the 2 patties that weren't even sealed. The parties weren't even seasoned. No salt or pepper either. Just tasteless plain burger patties. Thank god I got ketchup to give it some flavor. I would not recommend this place. I ate here 10 years ago and the food was excellent. A group of seven of us ate here on Saturday (8/14/21). The waitress did a fantastic job on waiting on us. Menus, drinks, refills, meals, condiments and tabs were all brought to us in a very timely matter. We were all very impressed with how good our food was. We showed up after 8pm on a Sunday night and worried maybe the kitchen would be closed, but they were very welcoming and gracious as we were seated. My husband and I both ordered burgers and we got the hodgepodge appetizer and all of it was very good. We both packed away more than we should have it was that good. The prices were about what you'd expect. The waitress we had was great and even gave the kids each a package of fruit snacks for a treat... And even gave my older boy a second package when she heard him asking me to see if he could have another. LOL gotta love that. Nice clean bathrooms and there was a good changing station for babies. Horrendous service and wait time. Was not informed that their daiquiris use tequila and not rum, my kid was never offered a drink that came with his meal, food took 45 minutes after ordering (we got a blt and a philly btw, no steaks, etc.) never heard from our server that entire time, never was checked on after food was delivered either. Our table was ignored the entire time we were there. We had to wave for help anytime we needed something which was ketchup for our fries and a to go box, that's it. We are far from needy. We also saw our server and her helper holding and petting a dog before our food arrived, that's extremely unsanitary and looks like there's nothing to do while we sit and wait. I get that this place is in the sticks but cmon, there should still be some standards read more

First, I am not an owner, employee or family. The place has been here for years, new owners the last two. The menu is good and varied, the food very good... the owners great people. We had an Easter meal from them today and it was WONDERFUL. Any new restaurant business has challenges the first few years, and Covid-19 is working hard against them. Do yourself (you can stretch your food supply and avoid store trips) and them a favor by doing takeout a couple times a week so they will be there to serve us when it is over. We'll do Sunday meals, Ribs and burgers during the week. read more

Great dry rub ribs on Wednesday. On Thursday it's time to have brisket also wonderful. Did you say prime rib, that is on Saturday night. Then Sunday noon they have a delicious prime rib beef dip sandwich. All are great! Good burgers, friendly crowd and staff and great Northwoods atmosphere. It is a good idea to call and reserve the daily specials or you might miss out. If your in the area do yourself a favor and check them out. read more

Service is terrible and the new owner is beyond rude. I didn't have ID and am 55 years old. Due to the fact I didn't have my ID on me, they wouldn't serve me alcohol. The only thing good about this place was that the food next to our table smelt great while we sat and waited for over 15 minutes to even get acknowledged that we were sitting there waiting. New owners again. Noticed that the customer base has reduced immensely so went to find out why. Although the service was excellent and wait staff was very friendly the food quality has definitely gone downhill. The 3 foot salad bar left a lot to be desired. Bins were almost empty and spillage everywhere. Not taken care of. We went on Saturday night for the prime rib special. Although we were served a generous cut and done to our liking it was bland with no seasoning. Mixed veggies were frozen from a bag. Wild rice soup was maybe canned? Not very tasty and it was served cold which is not good for a creamy soup! It will be quite awhile before we go back unless things improve read more

We've dined here 4-5 times and all but one visit was disappointing. Our last trip there for Father's Day was the last. Arrived around 10:40 for Father's Day brunch. Ordered drink as around 10:45, including the massive bloody. They said it would be a bit for the bloody. Food came out cold 45 minutes later and still no bloody. Bloody came out an hour and 10 minutes after we arrived, but looked impressive. We were already done with our food. I think they used ribs, wings etc from the night before because they were dry and cold. Just as she brings our check, she said the bloody comes with a chaser. We passed on the chaser because we were just waiting on our group to finish their bloody. We still got charged $18.50 for the bloody. The waitress was running her tail off so couldn't stop by much to check if we needed anything. Lots of other people just standing around. That was our last straw. Head to the iron horse and you won't be disappointed. read more

Visited on 9-30-2014 with great expectations. Arrived at 5:00 pm with friends for dinner. First words out of waitress mouth were--"Special (prime rib) is sold out via phone orders". There was no other prime meat available. We did not come special for the rib--steak would have been very acceptable--it was when visited there last spring. We were relegated to hot dogs and hamburgers---what a disappointment. The waitress needs a lesson in etiquette! She rolled her gum in her teeth annoyingly the whole time she waited on us---UGGHH! Absolutely horrendous. Went here for parents 51st anniversary. Was a disaster. They just plain forgot my mothers meal then took 20 minutes to fry shrimp and French fries. (Couldn't that be done in 5 minutes in a case like this? Wouldn't a missed meal be given top priority??) They didn't seem real remorseful about the mix up. They first offered half off mom's meal. That seemed awfully weak. So dad berated the waitress and manager. Then I berated dad for not treating people with respect. I'm not sure who was the most to blame here...Bullwinkle's...dad...me??? Bullwinkle's has always been our go-to place for ribs in the Nevis area. Hubby and I are picky about our ribs - we like a good dry-rub with separate sauce applied after cooking, and Bullwinkle's has always done that technique in a way that produces a tender, fall-off-the-bone rib that keeps us coming back for more. That said, we ordered some takeout ribs last week that were a real disappointment. The cooking method, rub and sauce were still the same (and very good), but the meat itself was a definite step down. The ribs were tough and had some cartilage and gristle not trimmed, and did not have that melt in your mouth taste we were expecting. Perhaps a new vendor had been used for the meat, or a less expensive grade of ribs chosen, but it showed. We're not giving up on Bullwinkle's - we'll try them again - but we hope they go back to their original style of meat very soon! Oh, and they only serve ribs on Wednesdays and they have to be pre-ordered on Tuesday, just so you know. Adding another day for ribs would be appreciated, especially in the summer! read more
