I've got to give a HUGE rave to Sunshine Cooling Solutions, LLC!…read more Of course, our AC decided that after 5 PM was the perfect time to quit on us, and we walked into a house sitting at 80 degrees. When you have a one (soon to be two) year old, sleep instantly becomes top priority, so waiting until morning was not an option if we wanted to be comfortable in our own home. I called around to several companies, including our usual go-to, but no one could make it out that night. Thats when I came across Sunshine Cooling Solutions, and I am glad I did. Sam was incredibly responsive, showed up within 30 minutes, quickly diagnosed the issue, and replaced the part on the spot. Thanks to him, we got cool air back fast and everyone in the house actually got a good night's sleep. Can't recommend Sam and Sunshine Cooling Solutions enough!

Unresolved permitting issue…read more I hired Sunshine Cooling Solutions to replace two HVAC systems at my Clermont home in June 2026. After the installation, I discovered that the required mechanical permit had not been obtained. I contacted the owner, Sam McClure. After I provided the applicable permitting requirements from the City of Clermont, he acknowledged in writing that an After-the-Fact Mechanical Permit should be obtained and said he would begin the process. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, no permit application has been submitted. The City of Clermont independently confirmed that no permit application had been filed. I have filed complaints with DBPR and the BBB and notified Daikin because I originally selected Sunshine through Daikin's dealer locator. Based on my experience, I recommend that homeowners ask about permitting requirements and verify that required permits have actually been obtained before hiring this contractor.

I really wanted to like this company. I really did. My A/C…read morewent out over the Fourth of July weekend (of course). Not only did they answer the phone on a Sunday, but scheduled a technician to come out the next day. Awesome! The technician arrived right on schedule, was very pleasant, and determined within seconds of hearing the A/C turn on that it must be the capacitor for the compressor. I've dealt with capacitors a lot in my life as an electrical engineer, so I knew that that should be a cheap fix. Chinese A/C capacitors sell for $25 on Amazon, so even with a small, local company mark-up I was expecting to get away with maybe a hundred bucks, plus the $95 service charge for coming out. To my surprise they charged me $420 for the capacitor, so with the service charge I paid $515 for a capacitor that Amazon sells for $65 (US made, not Chinese). I believe that at this point, the company is taking advantage of customers when they otherwise have to live in 95 degree heat, and I cannot recommend this company at all!

Excellent, reasonable quote and it was so smart to get the unit replaced before it died. Tony and his team arrived promptly and did a magnificent job. We had a full HVAC upgrade and replaced the condenser, cooling unit, vent plates, and duct work. The team started in the morning around 9am or so and finished at about 6pm - for all of the work they had to do and having to access the cooling unit in a tight space in the attic, they accomplished a lot in a day's work. My AC unit stopped working on Saturday. I'd used Frank Gay before and had their maintenance plan,…read moreso I called them. To Frank Gay's credit, they came out quickly and determined that the capacitor had blown. I was relieved because it was an older unit. However, the service tech insisted that my machine needed to be replaced. He said it was in critical condition and showed me the readout. He said it was over-amping and wouldn't last two months. Fortunately, they had a "special" going on for new units. Sounded like a sales pitch so I took a picture of the readout he showed me and uploaded it to ChatGPT. It said not to trust those numbers because they were way off and it looked like the probes were reversed. ChatGPT encouraged me to call someone else. So I did. Chilly Billy's came out today - two days later. The AC guy was named Nas - very easy to talk to and smart. He ran the same tests and determined that while my unit is pretty old - it's working fine. The numbers were well within manufacturer guidelines. They said they would not recommend replacing the unit. So, I learned I can't trust Frank Gay. I cancelled my maintenance membership and found a new HVAC company in Chilly Billy. I'm uploading the photos. One is Frank Gay. The other is Chilly Billy two days later. Trust is a big deal.

Had he not checked that there's still few days left in the evaporator warranty, it could have cost us more or even resort to replacing the whole system. He managed to get us a new evaporator for free from the manufacturer (Goodman), re-routed the new copper lines through the attic instead of going underground which is much better when it comes to troubleshooting any potential leak issue.
