I really wanted to like this company. I really did. My A/C went out over the Fourth of July weekend (of course). Not only did they answer the phone on a Sunday, but scheduled a technician to come out the next day. Awesome! The technician arrived right on schedule, was very pleasant, and determined within seconds of hearing the A/C turn on that it must be the capacitor for the compressor. I've dealt with capacitors a lot in my life as an electrical engineer, so I knew that that should be a cheap fix. Chinese A/C capacitors sell for $25 on Amazon, so even with a small, local company mark-up I was expecting to get away with maybe a hundred bucks, plus the $95 service charge for coming out. To my surprise they charged me $420 for the capacitor, so with the service charge I paid $515 for a capacitor that Amazon sells for $65 (US made, not Chinese). I believe that at this point, the company is taking advantage of customers when they otherwise have to live in 95 degree heat, and I cannot recommend this company at all! read more

Don't do business with these people. I paid for yearly service and all that happens is I need repairs after they show up. Switched to a new provider the same week of the "Cleaning" and there was oil everywhere in the unit? why, how?? and the filter was filthy not remotely cleaned. It did fail within a week of them showing up like usual. Stay away I know a lot of people like kalos however since not using them my ac actually shuts off now instead of running 24/7 because the proper parts have been installed, not the cheap chinese trash parts they charge 11x for. I have no doubt by not using them my electric bill will halve next month... it costs to much to use this company stay away. read more

I used Kalos Services for my Lanai AC install, and just last week signed up for their Service Membership Plan. Well this week my house AC stopped working. I called Kalos and they sent a Technician, Elijah. He found a frozen coil due to a blower motor failure. He replaced the motor, thawed the coil and tested for Freon leaks. He was so friendly and answered all my questions. You can tell he loves his job and the company he works for. Well it seems like an easy enough task for me to replace thermostat for the AC. However I managed to trip a fuse inside the AC and knowing it was bigger than I could handle I reached out to no less than six HVAC companies. Kalos was the only ones to respond positively and give me clear expectations of time, cost, and checked in every step of the way. Jacob, the technician, was beyond professional, humorous, and very good-natured. He solve the problem and manage to install (correctly) my failed attempt at the thermostat. We needed a new HVAC for our home, so we called 5 companies for estimates. Out of all of them, Kalos seemed to be the ones that had the least "pressure" to select a certain type of heat pump. Actually, we had Ronnie stop by, and he went above and beyond to make sure our originally diagnosed problem was what was actually wrong. He even made himself available on the New Years holiday to answer our questions over the phone after stopping by for the estimate. We were needing to get a system put in soon, as we were without a working one for around a week and a half due to the New Year and places being closed/inventory being short. They offered to put in a new blower motor for us to get us going until a new unit became available, but we decided to go with a larger, more efficient system that was available at the time. They were prompt with showing up today for our install, and the two installers couldn't have been friendlier. Overall, it was a great experience, minus the spending more than we initially planned, but I'm sure we'll recoup some or most of that with electricity savings and rebates from Duke and the government. If you're looking for an honest company that will go above and beyond to make your home comfortable while you wait for a system installation, (if you have that problem) I would give them a recommendation without hesitation. Plus, it's nice supporting a smaller, local company that does a thorough job installing, cleaning up afterwards and making sure everything is operational before leaving. This was a review about their competitor Del-air, but I thought I would also post it under Kalos so people can read the story and support honest business like Kalos. Our Carrier 5T unit was originally supplied and installed by Del-Air, so when we moved in to this house, we bought the annual service package from Del-Air. When we had problem with our A/C, here is what we experienced: 1) It took couple of days for Del-air to send somebody to check on the unit in the hot summer; 2) Del-air tech finally came and spent a long time checking the unit and told us the compressor is bad, it's 8 years old, we would be better off buying a new one, even we had paid $300 for the annual service, we still paid $100 for his "diagnosis", and made an appointment with their sales; 3) Luckily we then called 2 other companies to give us a quote so we make a more informed decision. The 2nd morning, a salesman from another local contractor Kalos took a look at our unit, in less than half an hour he fixed it, turned out it wasn't the compressor, it was just a loose connection. This salesman from Kalos didn't charge us $100 for diagnosis, he didn't charge anything, he fixed our unit and told us there is still life in our Carrier unit. 4) The Del-air sales finally arrived, we told him the whole story, and asked for $100 refund, instead he just kept on pitching us to buy a new unit from Del-air, and if we buy a new unit, he would write off the $100 "diagnosis". This is the whole experience we had with Del-air is so bad, made me appreciate Kalos' honesty and technical capability. I work for one of the large commercial A/C manufacturers, I know how important installation is to air conditioning. Kalos does not only operate with integrity and honesty, they also get very good technical people, even their sales manager can fix a misdiagnosed compressor failure problem in no time, that's amazing. Another quick update to my previous review. Due to a difficult 2018 health wise for me, we managed to wait too long to have Kalos clean our wall units, so the blower wheels needed to be removed and cleaned, an extra $174 each, to make a total of just under $450 for the service of our mini split converters. I am beginning to suspect that maintaining this Mistsubishi system might be more expensive over the long haul than a more conventional central a/c unit, but I really like the setup, with its ability to provide both cooling and heating, so while I may no longer recommend it as a system to others, I am satisfied with it for our situation. read more

They did work for me replacing a ten foot section of air duct. Now the duct is broken open and the condensation is leaking water on my ceiling. I called to see if they would back up their work and they refused. They said they would come out and look at it but there would be a "trip charge" just to come out. They seemed like such a good company but I won't recommend them anymore. read more

A Kalos salesman came to see me. Waste of time. The guy that showed up had no idea and was unprofessional in the field. Too many layers of sales and support and they got lost in between. Kalos is not efficient and expensive, much more expensive. There are better options out there. read more

Kalos installed a new Carrier AC heat pump in my house 2 years ago and the blower motor died this week. It has a 10 year warranty but you can't get replacement parts unless you use a licensed contractor. So, even though I easily replaced the blower motor with a part I bought, Carrier won't send me a replacement because I'm not a licensed contractor. And Kalos wanted to charge me a total of $450 to do the job, that took me less than an hour. First had to send a guy out to diagnose problem and then order the part from Carrier and then come out and install new part. What's that a week later? It's 93 degrees outside. So, I spend $5000 for new system and just 2 years later another $450 to fix piece of crap Carrier unit. You'd think I could bring them the defective part after I uninstalled it and they could get me a replacement, but then they wouldn't make any more money off me. I feel like I'm back in Massachusetts with this kind of service. Thanks for nothing Kalos. I'm SURE I can find a company that knows how to treat their customers right. read more

Kalos installed our HVAC unit 4 1/2 years ago. It is a Carrier unit. It has worked well and the service by Kalos has been good. Today the technician came to do a routine annual maintenance on the unit. Unfortunately, the unit needed a new capacitor. The tech said it would cost $210 to replace the part. The unit is under warranty by Carrier, however Kalos said the part they were replacing was made by another manufacturer but is ordered through Carrier (probably in China) - it is not a Carrier part. I asked why I had to pay $210 for a part that was under warranty. Kalos ' technician and a manager by the name of Buddy said that if they honored the warranty they would have to charge me more than $210 for them to re-order another capacitor from Carrier which would take apparently a lot of manpower to do so on the computer AND it would have to be charged off to me. I have never heard anything so ridiculous. What is the point of a warranty???? read more

I rarely post reviews but I decided to do this one as the service and price were outstanding. I have used Kalos Services for a couple years now after ditching my previous company for giving us a 5 day estimate for a repair to our A/C unit 2 summers ago even though I already had a maintenance contract with them. I called Kalos and they came in 2 days even though I had never used them before and they made the repair quickly. I switched to them for my maintenance contract and have been pleased with them ever since. I recently had to have my unit replaced and Tyler from Kalos gave me a great price that was quite a bit cheaper than I expected, that was on a Friday and he said they could complete the job on Monday. I was also thinking about replacing my hot water heater and Tyler said they could replace my hot water heater at the same time for almost $500 cheaper than if I had it done separately so I had that done also. They showed up Monday morning as promised and completed all the work that day. Brandon, Cisco, Nick and Bodi were all very friendly and professional and I am completely satisfied with Kalos Services and highly recommend them for your needs. They have replaced things that were not in the service agreement at no additional cost, they have crawled thur my attic to assure every vent is leak free and lived up to there promise of quality service. A very disgruntled and annoyed "ex-Kalos" and never to use agian customer. Think twice before using these people - what they say and waht they do are very different! Being new to the US way of things, we were advised to always be careful when selecting a trustworthy and reliable air conditioning "expert". Our air con failed in mid-Septemebr 2019. We immediately called Kalos (who we had used in the past) and they despatched an engineer (plus a trainee) the next day. After much deliberation and scratching of heads, the diagnosis was that we had a small but constant leak coming from the inside of the condo unit. The engineer offered to top up the refrigerant, at a cost of over $400, advising that would see us through until the $1,900 plus labor work was undertaken......yes the quote was that much! The very next morning, we awoke to no cool air and a fan that sounded like it would take off any moment. We immediately called Kalos. Anoher engineer was despatched.....same day! His diagnosis was completely different to the first visit and the $400 of refrigerant had all leaked away (yes, in 24 hours) as the leak was actually outside the property. The first engineer had failed to locate the major leak and seemed to be only concerend with the uplift in fee that he was asking me to pay. The second engineer advised that the part ordered the previous day by the first engineer would not do anything to rectify the problem and he cancelled the order...... We rightly tried to contact Kalos on several occassions to discuss this but amazingly, the famed customer servce they claim to offer had (like the refrigerant) all but evaporated. As a customer, I feel extremely let down and misled. The ultimate repair that was needed was undertaken at a much lower cost than the Kalos estimates - leading me to believe that I was the attempted victim of profiteering. Thank goodness my HOA stepped in to rectify the problem directly (with another air con provider). read more

I give a Halo to Kalo's! Best air conditioning service I've ever had! Showed up within 30 minutes when my air quit on a hot September day. Courteous, professional, expert, friendly service. Safety is practiced. Pay no attention to the one negative review about the sales plan - all other reviews of this company are a well-deserved five stars. They have all levels and explain it well. If you want, you can just call them once a year, schedule in advance for $95 once a year maintenance, which is very reasonable I think. They have a twice a year plan that offers more and costs more but I did not choose that plan. They have the best original "phone waiting music" if you have to hold that I have ever heard, so they think of everything to be considerate to their customers! read more

I am very, very pleased with the work Mr. Nathan, the Lead Electrician of Kalos Services did for me. The work was the replacement of two ceiling fans and two light fixtures in my house. Mr Nathan and his assistant (I think his name is Andrea) did an excellent work. The installations of the ceiling fans and light fixtures were done very professionally, quickly and neatly. My wife shouted with delight when she came back and saw the good work. Now, let me talk a little bit about Mr Nathan and Mr Andrea who did the job. They are very patient and smart gentlemen. I observed that when they were trying to take down the bad ceiling fan in the family room. It was really a challenge, but they came up with solutions that led to a successful dismantling of the bad fan without damaging the ceiling. I was really impressed with how they carefully installed the fans and light fixtures. Mr. Nathan loves his job and loves helping people. I can sense in my spirit that he is godly man. Mr Nathan and Mr Andrea are friendly and humble guys. May God bless them. Kalos officers keep to their promises. Mr Nathan came back a couple of days later, as he promised, to fix the cover of the light fixtures (they were broken in the cartons when I bought them). The work was neatly, professionally and quickly done. The cost was very reasonable. I do wholeheartedly recommend Kalos Services, Inc. to anybody who wants a very good job done for him or her. Our AC stopped cooling on a Sunday afternoon. Kalos was prompt, supportive and professional. And this was on a Sunday! Our system was more than 20 years old and beginning to fail. The Kalos service team quickly provided a full proposal with options to choose from. There was no sales pitch, no pressure, no up-selling . We are very pleased with the level of professionalism and communication both with the techs and home office. Kalos now has a long time customer with us.
