Ensaladilla de pulpo a la gallega (3,75€)
    Jonny M.

Our first meal in Seville was based on a local's recommendation to try Bar Dos de Mayo. We dropped in on a Friday evening (7:00pm). Service is rough around the edges but the food comes out incredibly quick. All the plates we ordered were tapas size. Menu is massive and available in several languages. - Pan y picos (0,90€) - they charged us for bread even though we gave the basket back. - Binomio Reserva tempranillo - graciano (2,90€) - Ensaladilla de pulpo a la gallega (3,75€) - potato salad with bits of octopus. Wouldn't get again. - Paleta ibérica de bellota jabugo (3,90€) - iberico ham was good. - Bacalao al estilo de la viuda (3,75€) - their house special. Cod was tender, rich sauce. - Rosada al romero (3,80€) - was supposed to be pink-cusk eel, but we were given a cod dish. Overcooked. - Flor de alcachofa (3,90€) - grilled artichoke. Okay. - Carrillada ibérica al jerez (3,65€) - stewed Iberian pork cheeks was homey. Decent fare but nothing that impressed.

EN: My boyfriend and I were hungry and walking around the city and decided to stop by this place on the corner. The menu was thorough and had lots of language options if you don't speak Spanish. The waiters were nice, responsive, and our food came so fast. It was delicious! ES: Mi novio y yo andábamos por la cuidad cuando vimos este sitio. La carta era muy buena con un montón de opciones. Los camareros eran muy simpáticos y rápidos. Fue delicioso!

This was our first tapa spot when we landed in Spain. I did some research on Pinterest and Yelp before and this was recommended by locals and tourists! Our airbnb was conveniently located up the block from this restaurant. Even our airbnb host recommended this spot. There is outdoor seating with many few other bars/tapa restaurant in the same area. The night we were there, there was someone playing "All of Me" by John Legend on the saxophone. This totally made our first night in Sevilla memorable. I would recommend the seafood salad, which comes with shrimp, octopus, onions, red and green peppers. We enjoyed it so much we ordered two of them! We ordered baby clams, which were fresh and came with this white wine sauce that was great for dipping with the baguette that they give you. We also ordered solomillo al whiskey topped with jamon, served on top of sliced potatoes and shishito peppers, grilled calamari and garlic prawns. The prawns were the small ones but they were soaked in garlic oil, what's there not to love?? I would recommend this tapa spot if you are looking for an authentic tapa spot and good outdoor vibes!

We came here based on all the good ratings. We ordered a few tapas, 5 to be exact Chorizo and shrimp and leek quiche, which we forgot to take pictures. The chorizo was good. Quiche was not. The anchovies, cod fritter, and pork medallions took over 45 minutes to come out even after checking three times. Services are lacking. There are more places to eat around here. I'm not sure why such a high rating. 1 1/2 hours for 5 tapas and 2 drinks is unacceptable Don't recommend and will not be back

This place was so good I came here twice within 2 days! I walked by this place and noticed how crowded it was, so I ended up coming here the next day at 12:30 PM when it opened. I wanted to make sure to get a seat ,and I was able to get one out on the terrace. Whatever you do, order the goat cheese with carmelized onion! This was the best thing on the menu, and I came here the second time just for that alone! I ordered that, a goat cheese tapa with foie gras pate, mariscos salad, jamon serrano tapa, stewed pork cheeks, the pincho corodero, and a sirloin tapa iberico and a couple of other dishes which were all good and reasonably priced. The only thing I didn't care for here was the solomillo al whiskey, which was waaaay too salty. I felt like I swallowed the ocean. And it came with soggy fries. Otherwise, all of the other tapas here were delicious. Most tapas dishes ranged from 3 euro to 5 euro. I had more than enough food for only 18 euro - and that was more than I needed! Credit cards are accepted here.

Decent tapas but even though I pointed to the menu which was in English for the items I wanted, I received the wrong items. The server would look at the items I pointed at in my English menu and then look for the same item in the Spanish menu. As a result I think he mixed up some items and we ended up receiving different items than what we ordered. duck bonbon croquetas= croquettes pescaito frito=fried fish filet

Don't leave without trying the berenjenas con miel (fried eggplant with honey) (top right). Divine.

Dos de Mayo is the place to go for solid tapas. We came back twice during our trip because it was that delicious. It is on a lively plaza and the restaurant was packed with locals. Score! For dinner, we tried the espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas), which was simple and delicious, along with a plate of jamón ibérico. The highlight of our meal, however, was a plato (larger portion) of berenjenas con miel, aka fried eggplant drizzled with honey, aka the meal that I want to eat on my deathbed. The batter on this eggplant was thicker than other tapas places making it taste almost like amazing fair food. The dark honey/molasses was just stunning. This dish was definitely meant for at least four people but the two of us inhaled this large helping so quickly that a cute Spanish family sitting next to us stared. We came back for lunch for their solomillo al whisky (steak cooked in whisky) and gambas con ajillo (shrimp with garlic). The shrimp stole the show. I had heard about this dish from my parents who ate it nearly every day when they were in Spain, and I am so happy we got to try it on our last day in Sevilla. It was remarkable. But honestly, when you bring out a sizzling clay pot out with shrimp cooked in a giant pool of garlicky-melted butter what is not to love? I dare you not to dip your bread into that vat of butter. TL;DR: try the berenjenas con miel and the gambas con ajillo. Die happy.

You'll hear this one piece of advise over and over when looking for a little gem allover Spain: ==Look for a place full of noise and packed with locals!== Dos De Mayo is that sweet corner spot that completes the checklist. We stopped in to cure my early afternoon hunger pain and managed to place an order with my broken Spanish speaking skills, so just smile and hold that smile, open your eyes really wide and point to things on the menu and see wait to see what you ordered, because that is what we did, it worked. Seriously, I only recognized the words Chorizo and Croquettes, so what was going to come out was going to be a happy mystery, learn to embrace it, our server sure did without hesitation! =Now take a moment to admire the beautiful wall of charcuterie -this is what I came to Spain for!= Set Up:] Sitting and standing tables inside, and seating outside. The outside seating is beautiful in the summer time, right in the open plaza and quite enough to hear birds and see locals walking for fresh morning bread. we placed our order inside and when our name was called we were happy to see what we got. Food:] a basket of crackers was placed before us as we enjoyed our cano early in the afternoon. When we picked up our order it was a huge plate covered in freshly sliced charcuterie; iberico ham, chorizo, and omgyum-ness! the croquettes that came out were delicious and fresh, dotted with pieces of ham and gooey inside. overall:] great experience, although we had our own language barrier we were happy with what we tried.

These were the dishes I ordered and was happy with all 5. A little much for two people but I managed to finish every last bit!

Amazing tapas at very afforable prices. Very busy so you'll need to have patience. It's a restaurant/bar but self-serve style so you go up to the bar and order and get your food from the bartender before finding a place to sit (it was so busy people just sat on the curb to eat). You pay when you're done eating so it's more or less on the honor system because you need to go back to the bar to get your bill. My favourite was the bird's nest with spinach and cod (nido de bacalao y espinaces).

Incredible tapas, especially the chicharones. Open all the time, right in the heart of Sevilla. Just an amazing, convenient and cheap place.

The best food I had in all of Seville.. stopped by this place for late dinner during my recent trip…read moreto Seville and this place did not disappoint. We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

Where do I begin? Let's talk about the ambience. To call this place rustic would probably capture…read moreit best, it's really probably more like a cafeteria or a school room at a very old school. Tables perhaps a bit close together, not terribly comfortable. Loud, busy. As far as the service, it was our impression that our waiter was the only person serving the 30 or so tables in their dining room. Suffice it to say the service was not fast and not good. Inexplicably, every time we ordered a Coke we were asked if we wanted a Coke Zero. If I wanted a Coke Zero I would have said the words Coke Zero. Even when I asked for another Coke, he again asked "Coke Zero?" It took next to forever to get the check, and forever to get a cappuccino. At one point I took it upon myself to point the waiter to a table behind us that had been desperately attempting to get his attention. This was all not good. As to the food. First, our fault for not knowing what tataki meant. We did not expect to receive salmon that was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. So that one is on us, although we also think the meal came tepid at best. The lamb on couscous was dry and tough. The pork cheek stew was actually pretty good if a bit gluey. The calamari was good. The sushi as they called it was average. What they called the tiramisu was more like a pudding with some liqueur and chocolate on the top, and a little bit of breadish stuff in the bottom. Not my idea of tiramisu, and probably not yours either. So we could not get too excited about these various dishes. But what was particularly frustrating and bizarre was that two people sitting across from us ordered food that looked absolutely delicious. So we got to sit there wondering why we didn't order what they ordered. They ordered a large beef dish with potatoes which is on the menu, and we think they ordered a large octopus meal although we are not sure. Everything they had looked better than anything we had. So it may be that we somehow just picked the wrong items. So it was a strangely frustrating meal. This place has good reviews and we expected good tasting food. Unfortunately it did not work out that way, and the ambience and service were negative contributing factors. I can't entirely write this place off, only because the food other diners received actually looked very good. But I don't think I would go there again.

The layout can be a bit confusing, as the restaurant seems to have three dining rooms with separate entrances but only one kitchen. Where we sat was charming, with stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings. We started with the foie appetizer, which was a delightful surprise for my palate. It was a unique combination of foie, cream cheese, and what I believe was pear. It was unusual, but I ended up really enjoying it. The zucchini noodles with pesto and burrata were also very enjoyable. However, the star of our dinner was the 40 day dry aged ribeye, cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender, and absolutely delicious. If we had discovered it sooner, I would have happily eaten here a second time.

Great texture and flavor. 9/10 The croquettes were good, I didn't like the mayo on top. 8/10 The dessert that was essentially a bread pudding was absolutely delicious.i barely tried the orange dessert but it tasted like a Pillsbury orange cinnamon roll. Dessert and service were 10/10
