I don't usually complain or give bad reviews but we showed up about 5 minutes early for our tee time and there are a bunch of people waiting for golf carts and we were told that they are getting the carts ready from this morning, so we have to wait another 30 minutes, and the worst part is they won't let you just check in and pay and then wait for the cart, what is the difference if I pay now rather then in another 30 minutes? This course is running a scam through under par website where they sell coupons for discounted rounds but do not tell you they only give tee times 7 days in advance over the phone, so there is never any tee times available on the weekends when the coupon says it is good for after 11pm. 3.5 but a generous round up to 4 stars for the price we found online: $35 with cart on a Friday morning in August 2011. This course isn't far away from the freeway's exit and you can actually see the course layout nestled along the mountain side from a distance. If you're looking to grab a bite or get some take out for the course, you're not going to really find anything within close proximity to the course. There is a strip outdoor mall right across the street but they only had sit down restaurants for the most part. So if you're looking to grab a McGriddle or some apple pies, you may want to get it in advanced. Right when you turn into the parking lot you will notice a little shack. Yes, that is where you check in. If you have attended any LAUSD school then you will know what I'm referring to. You can also purchase their infamous HUGE long dong hot dogs here. My buddy who has played here before told me about them and of course I didn't believe him until I saw it for myself. WTF? You can easily share the biggest dog between two guys. Checking in was a breeze. We were about 25 minutes early for our scheduled tee time but since there wasn't anyone teeing off, they let us head out immediately which is always great. Load up your cart and drive on over the little bridge to this guy behind this podium near tee box #1 and # 10. Behind him is a small practice putting green. Just fyi, there are no driving range or chipping areas at Dos Lagos. Here, the gentlemen checks you off the list and you proceed to hole #1. The front nine holes is like an ingrown toe nail that won't go away. This is where you should play it safest. Keep the long balls at bay; I suggest playing it shorter but straight. Any slight fades n draws will be like playing with fire while you might as well say bon voyage' to your ball if you hook or shank here. I forgot which hole it was in the front nine where you tee off up the hill. Your second shot should be down the hill where you may not be able to see the entire green, just the tip of the flag. Make sure everyone is off the green because I had over 200 yards left and I just wanted to lay it up. Instead I landed my ball on the green with a short iron while the group in front of us was still on it. Luckily, no injuries because that crew was all Jersey Shore Ronnie built and I wasn't about to f with that. The slope downhill decreases the actually yardage by a good amount. Also, make sure the guys behind you see you if your hitting your ball on the downside of the hill. They may not be able to see you so you may want to position a guy at the peak of the hill so they know it's not clear to tee off yet. On hole #9, your elevate tee box will state around 288 yards to the green. This is a very short par 4 and if you can drive the ball 275+, you may be able to reach the green in one. If you believe you are capable of reaching, then you possibly might so hold off on teeing off until that group moves on. Stay away from the left though because it's OB. Plenty of room on the right side though. The back nine to my surprise was a lot more forgiving. Here if you drive your ball too left or right, you still have room to work with from the other hole's fairway. However, once you reach hole #15-17, you're right back in the mountainside, you have to go back to playing it safe and straight in the middle. Also, there is no smoking within these holes because Smokey the Bear is watching you and your cigarette can easily spark a fire. Hole # 14, par 5, 614 yards from the blue tees. You read that correctly. Tee it higher than usual, spread the feet slightly wider, swing through, and kill that ball. You're going to want every extra yard. The third shot will be an uphill battle too. At the end of the day, it took us about 4.5 hours to complete the course. We had to call the pro shop to get our cart replace because we had a major flat but it didn't take them too long to come out and replace us with a new cart. The restroom facilities on the course are those blue portal potties with no sink. The roughs around the green are deceivingly thick. They may not look like much but if you land your ball in it, it's certain the ball isn't going to move much after that. Greens weren't in the greatest shape. Lots of areas that may need a cosmetic make over especially those patchy and dry parts of the green. Some holes will have cold, drinkable water in coolers for you. The drink girl came around about 4-5x too. Overall, minor upgrades needed but it was still a fun day on this course. Because of the hacker friendlier back nine, I would say this course is probably one of the easier places to play within this area. I would still recommend packing extra golf balls just in case. Don't forget a hat and sunblock as well, the IE is known for some extreme temperature! As for the "Dos Lagos" - two lakes? Not much of anything except two swamps like lakes. Pace of play is horrible. Waiting 20-25 minutes at every tee box. Took over two hours to play 5 holes and multiple foursomes at every tee box waiting. They need to do a better job with how they spread out their tee times. If you want to finish at a decent time go to another course. read more

I played in a golf tournament here last week and as I'm driving up to the course, the first thing I see is half the parking lot blocked off due to construction (I had to park in some makeshift spot), a double wide trailer used for the clubhouse, and 3 beat up hitting nets for warm ups (they don't have a driving range). The course looked like it was in decent shape but my first impression about the course wasn't pretty. However, the course was in good shape and challenging, and the entire staff was amazing. They really pulled out the red carpet for us and made sure we had a great experience. From what I gathered, they are redoing their clubhouse and in the meantime using the double wide. I wasn't expecting much but once you go inside, it looks and feels like a clubhouse (with a full bar and kitchen). There was about 30 of us playing that day and the entire staff did an outstanding job making sure we were all taken care of. And I highly recommend the $5 hotdog. Its worth every penny (1/2 pounds). Like I said, the course was in good shape and I found it challenging but fun. The layout between the front and back 9 is completely different, almost as if you are playing two different courses. The front nine is target golf, with a couple blind tee shots and some really tough greens, whereas the back nine is more open and plays a little easier but still requires precise shots to the green if you want to shoot a good score. And if its your first time, make sure you talk to the starter because most putts break towards a mountain in the distance so its useful to know which one. Fun for first timers. $49 for Saturday with cart. The cart girl came around 3 times. Tee boxes- avg at best. Brown spots and uneven in areas Fairways- yellow, not brown. Oddly, the front 9 was yellow. The back was green. A regular patron mentioned it was due to the back 9 being visible from the freeway. Bunkers- avg at best. Mud in some spots. I really enjoyed this course, First the cons! Does not have a driving range! Putting green is all the way down by the #1 Tee box! and Their club house is a trailer. What's the big deal about the putting green being by the #1 tee box you asked? You need to realize where the tee box is located! Now the pros! Course lay out is awesome, you might be intimidated by it at first. But after a few holes you will realize it's not as hard as it looks. You just need to be smart and manage your game. David was very rude to multiple people in line including us. We were very surprised at his attitude toward every situation. From checking in, to ordering beers. I was really skeptical about this place. It had some bad reviews and area is known for a few tight, hilly, target golf type courses that just isn't my idea of a good time. The front has some trouble but room to miss hit some shots. Course knowledge is a factor on the front. Back nine is wide open with the exception of a couple holes. 16 not a good hole but don't let that stop you from trying this place. Condition is the best I've seen anywhere. Seriously I'm pretty tough to please. Pro shop staff and bar/restaurant staff were also good. Greens keeper deserves an A. I worked in golf business for 15 years and i am low handicap golfer. No driving range No chipping greens Super slow pace weekend days The have tournaments twice a month weekends and it makes it even slower $62 weekend rate!!! $27 weekend rate after 3:30 on winter when you only have one hour of daylight. They told me the 9 hole rate doesn't apply on winter time. super disappointing!! I heard some decent things about the course so decided to drive an hour with my brother, friend and cousin to give it a shot. lets just start with the course its self. #1 over all not bad but not great, the greens were pretty well kept but the fairways were dry and dead and on a lot of parts just dirt so good luck trying to hit off that. #2 the pace of play is terrible, I've never played a round of golf that took 6 hours. people screwing around causing 4 groups to be waiting on one hole to tee off is insane. we spent 30 min on some holes waiting for so long. #3 which kind of goes in line with #2, the staff seemed like they didn't really care. We called the front office twice because it was just ridiculous waiting for that long and they sent out a marshal, which did not do anything because we still continued to wait forever just to tee off. when someone brings that to your attention don't respond with "it happens all the time" instead do something about it. I'm sure there could be stuff done over time to make this course better and more enjoyable to play but for now I wouldn't recommend it. read more

This course is horrible they have painted fairways and they still want you to pay $60 and on top of that they have a starter but no Marshall out on the course so with covid and everybody golfing the pace of play is horrendous it took 45 minutes to golf two holes on a Tuesday. The course is a great value on the weekends, but book an early tee time; it does get busy in the afternoons. While they've now built a clubhouse, there still is no driving range; just nets and a practice mat to warm up. They've made adjustments on the amount of time between tee times that definitely improved the pace of play. The front nine is tight, specifically the first hole. It does open up more on the back nine. At least there aren't too many blind shots. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were in great shape as well. Well, mixed reviews on this course. Location is convinenent, next to the Promenade, but the amenities are a bit strange. No range, putting green is wayyyyy over by the first hole, and the proshop/restaurant is a trailer. It's a nice trailer but a trailer none the less. Golf coure plays fairly long from the blue tees, and is interesting and challenging enough to be worth your while. The only thing that drives me a bit nuts is the course management in terms of having 5 par 3's and only two par 5's, meaning this is a par 70. I could think there's some more land out there in Corona that'd they could make this a full regulation par 72... its just a bit disappointing that some of the allure of this course was taken away by playing so many par 3's... It's like wearing a suit with tennis shoes; everything is pretty and professional for the most point, but something "small" really ruins the experience. Other than that, back nine was a beauty as there are some holes that have large water hazards that follow the hole, making for a scenic stroll, and there are some holes (#15, 16, 17) set up on the mountain that make for breath-taking shots and breath-taking views. We wanted to have a 5-some as another friend wanted to join last-minute. I called to let the pro shop know and they said they don't allow it. Okay, fine -- most courses don't allow 5-somes. no biggie. Until we go to the first tee and see a fucking 5-some in front of us. I ask the starter what's the deal with that and he said "oh no, that's two groups a 3 and a 2 some"...Which was understandable until they all tee off together and never separated. My god were they the slowest group ever... I don't feel bad at all for hitting into them. With a bit of luck, their lives were ruined forever. This one bitch was actually scavenging for lost balls on the side of the hill on 16...with the green wide open. fuck them!!! And WHERE THE FUCK IS THE MARSHALL?!?! /rant The course was in better shape than it usually is -- but this is perfect weather for golf courses so I don't attribute that to the management/greens keeper skill/ability. read more

I played this course for the first time this weekend. I got on their spam list before they even opened but I haven't had a chance to go. We had a 6:30am tee time so I showed up 30 min. early to hit some balls........no driving range. I walk up to the "clubhouse" to hang out while waiting for my group to show up........no clubhouse; only a trailer. I look around for a putting green to practice........putting green is all the way by the 1st tee box. I'll have to agree with the previous review. This place is not worth the amount they charge, but for a tee time special, this place is decent. I know they're doing what they can to get the course amenities squared away but it just seems like it's taking way too long. The course itself wasn't too bad. There are a lot of blind shots and most of your shots require good course management. My favorite hole has to be the 13th hole. It may not be anything to brag about, but I just love holes that water plays on every shot. It's a decent length par 4 with water lining pretty much the whole fairway. Overall, I had a good time. I would directly rate my rating with the price I paid for this course. The lower the price gets, the higher the rating would be. After all, that would be the only factor I can really base it on since they didn't have all the amenities other courses usually have. read more

I gotta be honest, I was pretty close to 5-stars on this one. Dos Lagos is another one of those courses where the reviews from my other golfing buddies were all over the map, so I decided to check it out for myself. The Course: If you've been on the 15 in Corona, you've driven right by Dos Lagos many times. It's a great course that winds though an old silica mine. More importantly, it was a very fun round. Some short par 5's and some very long par 3's made for an interesting round. There are not a lot of trees on this course but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of OB. Plus, I saw at least one rattlesnake here so think twice before running into the brush to look for your Noodle x-out. The elevation changes on the back 9 make for some very interesting shots and playing here a 2nd time will definitely help me avoid some of the mistakes I made. For example, the is a par 3 on the back 9 with a huuuuge drop but the green is still elevated so play it to the distance on the card. From what I understand, Dos Lagos has had condition problems in the past but when I played here everything was super green and very playable. Facilities: You mean trailer? Hey, at least it's a nice trailer and they make up for it with quality beers (like Sam Adams Seasonal) on tap. The footlong hot dog on the other hand was like something you would find in the garbage at the OC fair. Stay away. Pace of play: 8:00 tee time on Saturday morning and was done 12:30. Value: $59 on the weekends. Based on my experience, and this doesn't happen a lot, but that is the exact fair value price for a round at a course of this quality. Let's put it this way, you could do a lot worse. And if you haven't played Dos Lagos in awhile give it another chance. read more
