The food did take a while to be ready, but I didn't even mind because I was enjoying the sunshine on their back patio! This place is phenomenal, a hidden gem and probably the best cafe around that area. The horchata latte was perfect, not too sweet or too bitter. I got the turkey chipotle and my bf got the breakfast panini and added ham. Both were delicious and not skimpy at all, we could've shared one tbh. The employees were kind and the atmosphere is cute! Just happened to come here for for breakfast because another place we wanted had too long a wait. Service took really long here but maybe they were just busy on a Saturday morning. Our friend who usually came here said they are really good with the service so we were surprised when all breakfast sandwiches took almost 30 minutes to come out. Sandwiches were really delicious though! Perfectly crispy crusty bread. That was the right amount of grilled and will get a large amount of the fillings! Usually one would expect a thin sandwich with largely bread, but this had the perfect balance with a large amount of filling - something I actually love! I'm not a regular at Dos Palmas, but from time to time I find myself in the area, and I have yet to be disappointed. My go-to is their breakfast panini. I love an egg and cheese sandwich, but the one here has spinach, avocado, and tomato as well. Great to get some veggies in and make it a full breakfast. Prices aren't exactly cheap, but feel much more reasonable than most places these days. When I was here most recently I also got a chai, which was a great drink. Good milk choices too. The store is very small and they have some stools at a high counter inside. But on nice days you can sit in their pleasant outside area. And big plus: they're open early so you can get some nice food and drink before most other places are open. read more

Never noticed this little spot tucked away between normal heights and Kensington. It's a small coffee shop with smootiehes and paninis inside a Spanish style art deco building with an outside veranda and a pleasant courtyard. Little deck with deck chairs under a pomegranate tree, pleasant succulent garden, relaxing music while you have your morning coffee and catchup on emails. This place came highly recommended on Yelp so off I went. It had a nice local lived-in vibe, judging from the interaction between the barista and some regulars. I went with my customary Americano with cream (very good), and decided on the breakfast panini on sourdough, which is vegetarian by default. Tried: Mexican mocha, Turkey Pesto Panini, Turkey Chipotle Panini Lives up to the reviews! I'm a skeptic at heart but really wanted to give Dos Palmas a try after seeing the great rating (my friend who lives nearby also recommended it). I was interested in the Mexican Mocha but was persuaded into coming for the paninis - and I couldn't be happier. The Mexican mochas are definitely on the sweet side for me (I usually go for about 25% sugar in drinks) but it was absolutely delicious and tasted exactly how I imagined it would. I love Mexican hot chocolate, so would definitely recommend trying it if you do too! I tried both the Turkey Chipotle and the Turkey Pesto and they were both so good. I usually avoid chipotle as a flavor because a lot of the time it tends to taste artificial/not authentic, but this sauce was amazing, distinct, and had depth to it. It was smoky and had a real unctuous quality to it - it tasted like I was eating bacon without there actually being any bacon in the sandwich. I thought that the other ingredients really complimented it well. Both sandwiches were toasted the perfect amount and were warm and soft on the inside. We came in on a Wednesday for lunch to go and the owners/cashier were so friendly despite us being extremely indecisive about what to order. Glad to see the new owners have the same excellent food as the original owners. Hopefully they can do something with the flies in the garden/dining area out back. Suggestion: Clean out all excess foliage. Make sure all leftover food in the grass and umbrella area is eliminated. Put mulch down and rake it every few days or so. Make sure the mulch is flipped over and the wetness is exposed and dried. Put trash containers, with leftovers, behind the fence, next to the parking lot. Keep any and all necessary food containers covered and as far way from customers as possible. Spray any and everthing with any insectide recommended by the health department.
